Yeah, its the direct result of capitalism. The one who has money, can get away with anything. All they are intrested in is making money, not to show or try to learn people what good quality music, or culture is. People with bad taste gets into buissness, just to make money, they dont care how it sounds.
-
Of course people have different taste, but when there are no choices but mostly only rabiz kind of music, one has to start questioning the hole industry of music producement.

Very good point you made ANOUSHIK! It's like this concerning everything in armenia today, if you have money you can do whatever you like. And there is little anyone can do to stop it.Just like they are ruining the architecture of armenia by building very ugly apartments. The man in power can do what in the world he wants, and it seems like he doesn't have to listen to anyone.

Proud Expat, I couldn't agree with you more!

What if someone is a real scumbag i mean his real personality, he has deeply disturbed personaly issues. So of course he'd/ or she would want to lie to you so to get your attention, and first show you the best side of him/her as much as it is possible. So its up to all of us not to let us be fooled. To to be cautious.

Anka, It's none of my buissness you are absolutly right.

Maybe we should start a campaign concerning this matter, if it doesn't already exist?

I can't belive im reading this, you shoudn't be writing here at all, you don't seem to have a clue on what were discussing here. If you want to call yourself something else then armenian, go ahead, nothing is stopping you. Mjkankamits asa HNDIKES o gna. With people like you around who'd want to call themselves armenians? Not me!!!!! I am Pro-Your assimilation into the american sociaty!

Because it's in Yerevan where they mostly build those new and ugly buildings.Or they replace apartments as you see in the picture and replace with uglier,"western/american style" houses and buildings. I started a thread concernings this matter, I was just as concerned as proudEXPat. I couldn't belive my eyes when i was in yerevan, it was all a big mess.Anything is possible in Yerevan, thats all i have learned.

Yes, its quite simply isnt it?

There are different genres of music, folk music, pop, dance, classical. So we have an armenian composer who wrote a opera for us, spendarian, and as well as khachaturian etc. this is not folk music, but classical, though it is based on armenian folk music and history, like gayane and anosh opera. it doesnt nesssarly mean that you have to compose folk music so that it will be called armenian. for gods sake, Roben sings in armenian and is armenian, so his music is not swedish for all i know, but armenian. How to be able to distinguish armenian music from other, then you would have to hear and study the music and eventually will learn, and automatically hear resemblence in for example the rythms, the actual melody, the structure of the music, so on. For example armenian music has had very big influence in the balkans, since centuries ago. In Turkey most of the musicians and composers were actually armenians , and the people who played military music, the maker of cymbals used in Turkish miltary marschs, like the famous brand Zildjian, wich they mostly like to call turkish!

Armenians in Iran for example for hundreds of years, armenians were not allowed to marry non armenians because of obvious reasons, to perserve their identity, if they hadn't; i doubt there would have been any armenians left there today and all the things they achieved in iran, its truly something to be proud of.

Of course, the best solution is to listen to the old traditional armenian music,,, and thats what I do anyway:) but what about the rest of the music...I want to listen to good modern armenian music as well, like dance music... Im sure you can find it, the good stuff..but we need more, Like Nune has a great voice and the music is quite ok it has some quility to it anyway. Though some of it can be discussed, like she uses very" Arabic influenced tunes" in here music, and well the standard could be much higher..... Anyway I have old armenian music on tape wich i usually listen to. It sounds a bit rosty <_< tapes doesnt last forever as you all are aware off.. I play the piano myself, and i started on a composition with an armenian Beat to it Ill give you a sample clip soon

III. Lessons by Sara Teasdale Unless I learn to ask no help From any other soul but mine, To seek no strength in waving reeds Nor shade beneath a straggling pine; Unless I learn to look at Grief Unshrinking from her tear-blind eyes, And take from Pleasure fearlessly Whatever gifts will make me wise -- Unless I learn these things on earth, Why was I ever given birth?

Desert Pools by Sara Teasdale I love too much; I am a river Surging with spring that seeks the sea, I am too generous a giver, Love will not stoop to drink of me. His feet will turn to desert places Shadowless, reft of rain and dew, Where stars stare down with sharpened faces From heavens pitilessly blue. And there at midnight sick with faring, He will stoop down in his desire To slake the thirst grown past all bearing In stagnant water keen as fire.

I am sorry but my intention was not to attack any of you. There is another side of the story, armenians from armenia have a difficult time because the living conditions are not very well in armenia as we all are aware of. But imagine this if halv the population in other countries, who are in just as bad state as armenia , would leave , who will be left in that country and who will eventually run that country ? I know that many has left armenia. I only know that some of those people who leave, doesnt really have a good reason. To compare it, Not a better reason than a refugee from iraq anyway! My parents both work in the emigration organization here, they translate from armenian to swedish for armenians who seek from armenia. We are discussing here to percerve our armenianess. And these people come and fake suicides, and take medicins and put their own lives as well as their familiy in danger just because they want to stay here in sweden.
-
I would like to answear that with, Yes, our people will dissapear: If Hayastantsis continue to leave Armenia, soon we will have no country left that we call our homeland.
-
Lol... So what instruments can you play and at the same time?

How are you going to adress the problem when halv of the kurdish population in Western armenia( wich they call kurdistan) who have Armenian ancestors, and who now are writing books about the ANCIENT CULTURE OF KURDISTAN AND THE KURDS( for example), to aknowleadge their armenian ancestry. Millons of armenians, millons of turks, are rewriting history books about the armenian culture, and has turned it into something new, THE TURKS and the KURDS. Armenians assimiliate and dissapeare in Turkey, because we are to occkupied with discussing who an armenian girl should marry or not! I think we should concentrate more on this issue, and as well as educate and bring up the armenians of today who calls themselves ARMENIAN, and some of them who in my eyes doesn't at all have any resembles of the armenian wich we are discussing, and doesnt at all posess any of those good qualities.
