Agreed - can't wait for the Return of the King film. I loved the first moivie - and understood all the variation and ommision form the books (though I had a way to get Bombadil in their that would only have taken a number of seconds...Oh well)...but I was nto happy with some decsions made for the send movie - not at all. strill enjoyed it however - bette ron second viewing - as I was outraged when i first saw it in theater. Yeah I'd be happy top show you a pic of my boy...but you'll nedd to give me your email or such in a PM. And i'm not at all exaggerating either. Of course i noticed it first...but he really does get stopped and people say so all the time. Agree with you on the films - a bit bland and unemtional - much of the fun is not there...but gotta admit - they were at least accuratly done and can't really point to anything that was doen out right wrong - or poorly...its just that the way Rowling writes is just so evocative - and I think its hard to carry over into film...

Yeah UKGIRl - its really fun getting together with my friends who have children and seeing our kids play - while we get together and talk & such ourlseves. Unfourtunalty most of my old friends are childless - and many not even married or such (or worse - not even seeing anyone...and some have had pretty poor luck there...oph well)...but I/we do have some good friends with kids - and we getr togetrher fairly often - at each others homes and sometimes we do a camping trip, or go to an amusemtrnpark or other fun outing...yeah its very satisfying and rewarding and fun...

Yesterday Am - Howard Stern (radio guy for those who don't know0 was reading off MJ jokes that his folks had gotten off the net....I was laughing so hard at some of them..well..almost lost it. Of course most couldn't even be repeated here (they were way bad)....but one that I can recall - and is not as absolutly nasty/explicit as some of the others - Whats Michael Jacksons idea of a perfect 10? 2 five year oklds... Sop you get the idea... He''s a freak certaionly...but its not criminal to be a freak. But if he is guilty as charged well then he should pay the price. I mean yeah - he is a weird/twisted/immature guy...but he's not alone there - all kinds of wierdos out there (some are harmlress...but others...)...still I wouldn't let my kids with him alone etc....I mean what can these parents be thinking (future lawsuit settled out of court etc? Don't know...but not good IMO)

Accel - your horrible. I could never see myself doing that. So what if she didn't look great - you don't have to sleep with every gilr you meet - your just seeing a movie. And who knows - you might have really missed out - I'll be she was sweet and interesting. etc And really now - hurting someone like that...all I can hope for is that you get similar one day.

Hey Azat - don't fret...I mean what is really important anyway - friends, family, experiencing things etc etc - whats the big deal about accomplishing something anyway? Really - think about it. Of course if you can and do - and do things that make you proud etc - then more power to you. And its funny - while I certainly feel that i do have soem "accomplihments" in my life (nothing major really though...) - unroutnuatrly for me - they're not the kind of thing I can really talk to anyone about...LOL (do perhaps there is a dileam as well)...but oh well - life goes on... And found yourself another studmuffin yet? LOL - Now there would be an accomplishment for ya! LOL

Accelerated - Dune is one of my all time favorite books. And I love all of Herbert's works (and have read all) - and if you liked Dune I would suggest reading more of his novels - all entertaining and insightful and well written. I had the pleasure of meeting him in 1984 right before he died and it was very special for me. Another classic in a similar genre is Startide Rising by David Brin (and the entire series is worthwhile and entertaining). I also met him in 1984 right before the book won the Hugo and Nebula that year - and I didn't know of him or had not read his book. Well i have a history of dissing Sci Fi authors (who are full of themselves etc)...I go to conventions and such and this was at a WorldCon in LA. We were at the Atlanta bid party and had each been drinking many Peach Daquries! Well I was saksing his what he had written etc and he told me...and for whatever reason (drink) I started giving him a hard time. It was funny how he was really scincerely and desperatly trying to convince me that his book wasn't just ther same old garbage. So I did read it after (and its now one of my all time favorite novels!)...and it won both awards at the very convention I was attending! LOL. So I got to meet him again last year - at a technical (non-Sci-Fi) conference and related my sotry to him (which he didn't remember) - but he was highly amused...LOL (and got him to sign a bunch of my books as well!) And UKGIrRL - Lord of the Rings is of course and has been a favorite of mine as well. I've read it dozens of time - recently to my children. Also have read all the Harry Potters to them (excepting the most recent one - as my eldest has mangerd to read it to himslef - twice now)...they are alos very enhjoyable (and very British!) LOL)...and in fact - everyone coments how much my eldest looks like Harry Potter - and its ture. In fact I think he looks more like HArry Potter then the kid who plays him in the movies! (and he has been harry Potter for Halloween etc ...I made up a nice Nimbus 2000 for him aways back!)...and of course the kids are really into LoTRs as well. For his last two birthdays I've conducted a game with minatures re-enacting the trip through the Mines of Moria - 2 years ago , and the Battle of Helms Deep - this last year. I suppose we'll do The battle of Pelanor firlds or some such this year - I really will have to start paintin up those minatures and designing a game layout (lots of work...but great fun)...

What is confidence? hm ...just being assured with yourself an whatever you do. I've always had supreme confidence in myself and my abilities and my orientation (as a good person etc)....and I feel for those who don't - because it can be ovbvious sometimes that they have self-doubts & such and I think this prevents people from being themselves and having fun and doing things - and thats too bad.

I still have a good freind whom I've known since th first grade and we've been good friends since the forth. Additioanlly - I still keep in close touch and am friends with a group of about a dozen or more folks that I've know since before High School. We were friends through High School and have remained good friends. In fact a bunch of us are getting together this weekend for a sort of a camping excursion. Ocassion being that one of our "gang" is back in the area visiting from out of town (always a good reason). And even though many of our bunch have moved away to different places (soem different countries) we stay in touch and always get together and visit if possible. And its just as if no time has past between us - in many ways - we know each other so well. I'm actually a large part of keeping the group trogether - I usssually know how to get in touch with everyone and I keep up the contacts. I'm also almost always the organizer of get togethers - such as this one comming up tomorrow...Other often comment about how well we stay together and remain friends - and I have to agree - its a very special thing. It is very important and rewarding for me...(and its funny - even my kids like when we get together with my old friends - they mix in well - and everyone is really good with them - even when many don't have kids of theri own. And with some - our kids are playing together and such when we get together - its amlmost like they have another set of cousins)

I read alot of Sci-Fi...but other things as well...historical & military mostly.... I like the Harry Turtledove alternate histories, and the 3 Bs (Bear, Brin & benesford) (Sci-Fi...some of the best being writtren now I think)..and lots of other stuff...
