It's about the "Grikor, lucavoreech" story. I've always been told that the King became very sick and needed Grikor's help. Once I was told that the king became blind. But in the show, they explained that he had been turned into a boar. Are these all accepted variations of the story, or is one right and the others wrong? there is a legend that Armenian king (of some state, 1st century) Abgar becomes very ill and some Christian (non-Armenian) cures him. he becomes Christian (first Christian-Armenian, i guess) and tries to spread it over his state. but he doesn't succed. i guess you were reffered to this.
  2. i don't really like everything but would not refuse to listen to different types of music. my favorite music is Armenian folk (joghovrdakan and azgayin)!!! from current Armenian musicians/singers i like Ara Gevorgian. i also like classical and jazz. i regularlly listen to those types of music only. and for the rest, i listen to them so i could keep up with the life.

    College

  4. i was just wondering what kind of music you people preffer? jazz, rap, rock, classic, Armenian folk.....?????
  5. quote:Originally posted by MJ: To answer you [rhetoric]question, I don't know what I can do. I don't know if there is anything I would succeed in doing. But "I have seen what you have done, and I have experienced it. I don't want any more of it." Also, keep doing what you are doing. Some day you may need writing for the "odars" that MJ (allegoric "MJ")was Armenian. And it may make you feel good inside, especially that it will make them learn that you are Armenian, too. BRAVO!!! don't blame me. i have nothing to do but clap.
  6. quote:Originally posted by dragon: If your sarcasm is addressed to me, then feel happy to creat a new Armenian nation the way your ambition calculate and cut. Let me see what can you do. What can MJ do, after he throws away the ''stone'' of the past. For me, I'm happy with my language, which is my real Homeland for now. I can creat the life I want in my language. I'm not in need to become an odar in my language too. I have given only this much little, and I'm gonna protect the little, to be able make it grow, flourish, enlarge. This is my faith, I am one of the saviors of Western Armenian language. Americans, russians and all other races don't need me, they have lots of like me, even if one day I become bilangual writer. I have no intention to ignore my past, my diasporan birth, my Cause, my Language and my current Homeland. At the same time, I'm trying to learn every good thing odars have, created, practice. Feel free to call me nationalist, racism, or whatever. I don't mind, because I'm feeling good inside, for being armenian. BRAVO!!! and for the other one, i accept the kisses. no problem.

  8. oh, i missed it. are they going to show it again?
  9. i have a question for you, great minds. i agree that our nation needs a lot of changes. but are you saying that we should adopt a complete new lifestyle and forget everything we had/have in the past/present? if it is so then are we (oh man, i mantioned "we" again) as a nation ready for that? are we capable of that? can we handle it? and not get apart and vanish among others.
  10. hey, i can speak very informal Eastern Armenian, very formal Eastern Armenian, and i'm good at Western Armenian as well. both of my grandpas were from Yedesia (Urfa), and my grandmas are originally from Eastern Armenia. isn't fun. so, i don't have any problem with anything.
  11. why go far? try HyeForum. right here. we're all good here.

  23. quote:Originally posted by glasnost71: A 10-year system was puting students under the pressure, I can't see what they're gonna do now with 11-year system. If this is for easying the programme - then it is good. If that's for adding more stuff to learn. They're gonna loose this reform. Kids are already badly overloaded by various disciplines to study in Armenian schools. Besides school reforms are the most popular thing among all ex- and post-Soviet Armenian govs. i don't really think that students are being put under horrible pressure. in fact i like the system of Armenia more than the one here. here most of the youngster don't study because they are not directed toward education, but have the opportunitty to study. and because of that many talants die without being discovered. but in Armenia they are forced to study. so eventually they find the field they are good at. but after all i think that each country's system matches with the country. Armenians have to educate everybody because we're small in number and every single person is valuable ((if only government and people themselves understood this)). but in US even without forcing there are enough people how study and help the country.
