There's much to be said about the leadership of the Armenian Patriarch of Iraq. Simply put, he's amazing. Amidst a war, he still ordained a priest. Very recently, in fact. Surpazan Avak Asadourian is truly an admirable leader.

Yes and on that same token I brought it up in a a half joking manner. I could be wrong, but I don't think the Vanetsi dialect had any Kurdish mixed in it. And I was talking about their accent and inflections, not so much their vernacular-- I know the two are very much correlated though. Its the Vanetsi warping of Armenian words and phrases that makes their brand of Armenian their vernacular.

Let's get something very clear, Arpa: no one understands Vanetsi. Even Vanetsis have a hard time understanding Vanetsi. Thank you.

So are you including that number in your tally of Eastern of Western Armenian? A lot of Western Armenians-- meaning Armenians that lived in Ottoman-conquered territories, since that's what I would consider encompasses most, if not all, of Western Armenia-- fled to Iran. So then as what would they be considered? But I think that's what you meant anyway.

This is true amongst the diaspora, but go to Hayastan and tell me if it's true there...
