Hey guys, however the most shocking Armenian mentioning was in the movie "A Day Without a Mexian". I won't give it away since it's an essential part of the film, it was more or less in a positive light, more like acknowledging the presence of Armenians in California.

Sasun, I'm sure it's a mix of things but I don't see how the lobby can falsify Armenia's economy condition (I mean if this was JUST a result of successful lobbying), certain things are based on hard core economic indicators.

Did anybody capture that SNL skit when Ben Afleck played an Armenian used car salesman in LA? The accent did not match, the looks somewhat did, it was kind of tacky. (Keshishian Motors was the place of his business ) Also, my friend in LA told me that there was an episode of "Queer Eye for the Straingt Guy" where the straight guy was in love with this Armenian girl, well she was the girlfriend, then they taught him to say "yes kez sirum em" in Armenian so he would impress the girl...has anybody seen this?

I thought the voice was dubbed by an Armenian but it turns out that the character itself is an Armenian, quite cute.

Bek - I am pretty sure more Caucasian than from the Western Armenian, I even think some of the Artsakh dynasties had their names begin or end in Bek, I have a feeling it has roots in native Caucasian languages as opposed to Turkish. ian - DOES NOT mean son of, it means belonging to, just like in English. Son in Armenian is VORDI or ZAVAK and Armenian names never were based on that concept, it's more like if you are Danielian - you descended from Daniel's family, one of your forefathers was named Daniel. I have a friend in Armenia who is Arakelova and they are Armenians from Tiflis, mostly Russian speaking. Arakel means Aposle like in Hay Arakelakan Egeghetsi is Armenian Apostolic Church.

ok, this might sound as a joke but those of you from Armenia please tell me how to say TARAKAN (cockroach) in Armenian. I mean my family never ever used the Armenian word, so I don't even know what it is. Why can't we just adopt this word into Armenian.

I clearly don't regard Atheism as a religion and the point of this thread was to discuss religion. I mean there is no "sacred book" in Atheism, any kind of preachings or institutions. Please also note that communism does not necessarily mean atheism, there are atheists in France or USA but they don't belong to the communist party. I hope this made sense.

50% WOW! If it is that high how come I don't understand a word of Farsi? Seems to be quite high. When asked, I normally reply that Armenian is UNIQUE, no close languages currently exist. Also on Vagharshapat and Sardarapat (note in Eastern Armenian pronounced "pat"), I always thought that PAT had to do with a concept of a walled city, protected etc. I mean meaning a fortress-city, certainly I think was the case with Sardarapat. Also note, my little discovery the other day while watching "Spiderman 2", if you translate to Armenian it will be "Sardamard". Now look at the 2 words and see how closely related they are.
