This reminds me of something happened, some long time ago me and my wife decided that we go and see western armenia and try to find my grandfathers home!!while we there we went to visit city of Anni, there were so many churchus most of them in ruins..one Turk was sitting there when my wife said that I ask him with whatever turkish I speak that if he was a turk,so I did, he replied yes I asked him if turks are christians he gave me a disgusting look and said of course not Hamdoulillah we are all Muslimans then my wife told me to ask him why they have built all these churches instead of mosques than!! he replied that there was once a people called Ermeni here and that they have built them, and in reply to my question of what happened to them he put the tumb of his right hand near his throught and with a hand movement said:SLAUGHTERED..!!not knowing that in the ussr next to him few kilometers there were over 3 million of Armenians living and as much ,and much more all over the globe, and that one day they will come back from the grave of their ancestors and demand the truth justice and what belongs to them.. jack
  2. Thank you for the feedback but cant see why the lebanese Christians are closest to us,they hate us to our guts, specialy when they see us talking our own language among us ,the mere mentioning the name Armenia to them they take it as an personal insult.Their only consolation lyes in seeing us dumping our heritage as they did. we descovered taht This womens husband introduced his wife .who is 100% armenian as a greek to his aquantances!!.on the other hand we pity the wife who seems to regret to the bones from the neglect she has been suffering from her husband and family over a dispute that he wants to have another baby, a son, but she insists that she doesnt want to.it seems that she has lost a four months baby when she was pregnant and they left the dead baby inside her for 5 more months obviously expacting a miracle,so she was afraid from this experiance.and now as she said to us the husband is threatening to have a child from another woman in case she rejected the idea!!.on the other hand she looks despatate to give her children to armenians...!!this is so horrible me and my wife we cant take her out of our minds and we are realy suffering for her situation . last moth upon our insistance the husband at last bought her a small japanese car so that at least she can go to the city for the nesesery things. She, his husband and 3 children they live in a house of 2 stories together with her father and mother in law,her sister and brother in law and their 3 children what is the chance of our kid surviving as armenian in such an arabic enviroment why should we take the unnesesery risk you think. jack
  3. Another info on the interracial marriages. Before BEFORE it didn't realy exist cause people were kind of stuck in the same place for all their life. Now because the world is a much smaller place than before, people just have chance to meet other kinds. It's like, the way chinese put it, walking alongside with time. It's not forgetting your kind or traditions. Just i told u before: TEACH THE LANGUAGE, HISTORY, THE ARMENIAN WAY OF LIVING and see if it will be easy to vanish. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- there is this armenian women we just met in the village where we have a summer house, she is married to an arab christian guy and have 3 daughters, they invited us and when me and my wife went to visit them at their home we descovered that it was sort of miserable underground shelter ,one of their daughters shouted to the other and said in Arabic in amazment:they are talking just like MOM!! they didnt even know that the language we and their mother were talking was called Armenian. They came to visit us few times, and they keep insisting that we visit them more frequently. After a briefe consultation with my wife,we are thinking to stop seeing this family for the following reasons: 1-the husband is very fanatic religous christian Arab not once during their marriage even considered to take his wife to an Armenian church even for curiosity or to an armenian event. 2-the Armenian wife is one of the most beautiful ever we have seen, and also are her 3 daughters 3-we have a very good looking and educated son who just became 17 years old. 4-the odds are very high that he will fall to one of them, their mother is even not hiding that kind of intentions. 5-we are afraid that in the above case we will almost for sure lose our son,and what the hack, there are so many Armenian girls around. please give me your oppinion on this, are we paranoial , are we doing the right thing. Jack
  4. very well said, never in critical period of our history we have ever depended on the collective will of our population ,most of the tiime most of us did is to put our personal love and urges above our country's demand or interest ,or else we would have been a country almost like France ,Germany or England. As I have noticed the existance of our nation culture and civilization has been always preserved by handfull of hard-core individuals and their ardent followers .And I deeply believe that this prosess will continue endless forever.there will always be enough faithful people to compansate for those who are beeing lost. When I was young I could fall in love at least once a day,I could have married an Arab girl here easily,by the way I lieve in Lebanon, which I never even considered.I married to an Armenian Lady whom I grew to love her more than life itself,we speak French English Arabic but we always use our own languge among ourselves. For me love is a purpose but not just an overnight lust,a purpose which deserves to be served ,in my case as an armenian it is used to preserve an old and noble culture, a civilisation .
  5. Yes the same was said by turks some 90 years ago, and many other civilizations who have precided them, and disepeared a long time ago, even yesterday was said by a Maronite TV here in Lebanon(Maronites Who are on the verge of disapearing!)they wanted from Armenian young generation to marry local maronites,it is in my oppinion like pumping Armenian fresh blood into a dying corps!!. and despite all of these guess what we are still here and will witness one day the nailes beeing hammered to the coffins of peples like Turks and many other babrbarians.
  6. Exactly, with a very bad reputatoin, actually is a sort of facist/nazi party. but very undicsiplined..!!
  7. Karim pakradouny is a complete model of failure in politics.to start with he is a moderate politician, within the standards of Lebanese politics,he could have been a very famous politician had he has been born in europe or USA,but definitely not here where the public specially the Christian Arabs preffer and seek exterim speechs and not moderate ones like Pakradouny . I am realy surprised that he is calling the armenian youth to indulge in Lebanese politics,as he himself has suffered a lot and still suffering from it. the latest critisism came few weeks ago from the local Maronite TV LBC where he was rediculed loughed at and dubbed a chamillion changing sides many times, which is absolutely groundless as he stayed on the same side and beliefs, unlike many other of his coleagues. In Lebanon if you want to be a successfull politician in Christian areas you have to do two things:one, attack Sirya.Second' pretend that you are deffending the interests of your own sect against the alleged aggrassion of the other sects, in Musliman areas substitute the Sirya by Israel and you will get the same equation!!. And if neither is available they will creat an enemy within their own comunity, the public demands an enemy,always...!! In Lebanon there is no politician that equally serves the entier other sects as well ,each serves his own constituancies for religous or secterian reasons. So to say Pakradouny is not accepted as a legitimate politician in his Maronite Inviroment as their representetive, in addition to the above mentioned reasons he is also regarded as an Intruder, his father being Armenian and his mother Maronite Christian Arab,so during the Lebanese war he was largely not trusted by the Maronite public because of his moderate views toward Sirya.and even sometimes dubbed "AL-GHARIB"which was largely used during the war,in the christian areas, meaning stranger. As a consequance he neither served his comunity as an Armenian nor was accepted by his adopted one!! He never served the Armenians as a politician ,which is regratable,I think he chose the wrong quarter,if he have had chosen an Armenian party we could have profited a lot from his inteligence and I think that he could have been much more appraciated than he is now. Lebanon is a corrupt place for politicians. No room for straight political avtivist,if you want to be rich and quick, it is a good arena but it is guarded by very tightly kneet families who are counted on the fingers of one hand, without their consent,or without beeing their slaves or servents it is not possible to go into politics, besides it is better to become a clergyman here than a politician !! with their nicely tailored beards they have more influance on the politics here, proof?follow the American or French ambasadors' activities in the monasteries!!!. In his book written sometimes at the end of the civil war in Lebanon Pakradouny says bluntely that Lebanon (more percisely Maronites)cannot govern themselves and never did anytime during their "history"and they should be governed by an outside country always. Im sure he knows this all, and yet much more so he is unlikely serious in his call for armenian youths to enter into non Armenian parties, not that this is wrong but because it will harm the armenian comunity by stripping the bright guys by taking them where they have no future and unappriciated and worthless, and are also useless to their comunity,Please keep in mind that Lebanon is such an insignificant country on the international scene, that can help the Armenian nation or comunity or Lebanon itself with almost nothing. Lebanon is a country that has no unified Identity, has no culture, their beloved passtime is to speak or "analyze"worthless politics on TV streets or at home to a sickening degree.the place where an Armenian can be more of a help is by sticking to his/her comunity to his or her party to their own armenian school club...etc. Jack
  8. Here are some pics to the incident you are reffering at: I expect that the next assault to be mortal!!,why? because to bring"democracy" to Russia stir a revolution and get rid of Putin they need a victim a sacrifice, and who is better known internationally than Kasparov!! I think Kasparov's unintantional role in this game is secrificing the king by Check Mating himself !!!. Check out what happened to Hariri in Beirut 3 months ago....
  9. Calling for the establisment of an Investigative commission is like a Criminal calling policmen for help!. if this is the only thing that Turkey can do to encounter the forthcoming "Tsunami",he knows that will do more harm to himself then to us,or else he would have undertaken such step long time ago...he know exactly that sooner or later he has to recognize and give back the lands that doesnt belong to him,he knows this is inevitable... jack
  10. Read this from German website chessbase: http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=2083
  11. For chess fans in general and Armenians in particular: http://www.petrosian2004.com/chess2004 http://www.petrosian2004.com/chess2004/index.jsp?id=31 substantial prise money..hmmm

    Chess

14 days and 14 rounds of breathholding susspens for me as I was watching round after round the Armenian team making great effort for the silver medal,it wasnt until afetr the last game that russia snatched the silver with equall points with us,congractulations,to you all,the spanish web site broadcasting the games live was ful of Armenians all over the world and most of the catting was going on in Armenian language,we never felt so proud..
  15. That makes him even more dangerous than you think he is..! Please, try to contribute in a positive manner, Armen
  16. I dont know why but I find your argument about Armenians calling each other in many ways to be completely outdated and no reason at all to be justifyed. When we were there in Yerevan couple of months ago (me my wife and son)we never felt that we were threated any different than a local Armenian,we felt we were even threated with more respect, many people we met encouraged us to move and live there!!. and we from our part never felt strangers,so much so that my 15 years old son waiting impatiantly for our next visit (I suspect he liked the Armenian girls there!!) I dont know why some guys like to bring up things that might have happened or not decades ago...for many of us it is completely insignificant,we would like to focus on the future..and as I see it is very bright...!!
  17. and ask him that what was he doing here on this civilised podium while he and his country backed by Turkey are denying the Armenian Genoscide and preparing for a new one, though it was not possible to work now this time because of the western world cncience awakening.
  18. Make a point in an indirect way that they are a musliman country .and that Bassayev was living and fighting in his country Azerbaijan against the deffencless armenians in Karabagh.
  19. Nairi,For me the first impression was very important and sometimes ever lasting, you sure didnt have much chance with me..!!!
  20. may be this will thow some light: http://www.boston.com/sports/other_sports/...for_agassi?pg=2
  21. Finally, Armenians are well known in many places. We tend to be amicable, smart, dedicated, peaceful, non intrusive, resilient in the most part and especially for external consumption. Don´t take me wrong, if I could be born again, I would still choose Armenian. But that doesn´t mean that I should shut my eyes and reflect just about how lucky I am. style_images/master/snapback.png although Im in no way in a position to distribute sertficate or to judge ones Armenianness,Im realy glad to read above post Boghos. As for corruption matter,I think corruption itself cannot be removed or extradited completely because it is part of human nature, even in the noblest of demcracy tradition countries there are certain extent of corruption. When you say:Son eat your meal,he says no,ok then Ill buy you a choclate when you eat it,so he does..what you think are you doing if not bribing your own son..!!!! if corruption remains within certain circles ussualy it is not apparent but when comes down to the public level it starts to disturb those same circles itself..!! I havent heard of single country that is not suffering of corruption,or of corruption scandals in more advanced countries. Yet this is the real monster which is impeding the progress of many nations, and no reamedy found so far.. As`for external consumption,I dont care what each individual sells as long as it brightens our image,I myself never expected anything from another armenian whatsioever for my personal interest, all i do is preserve my language my history, culture,Identity, heritage, because i think that is what I should do as an Armenian, this I find it to be my duty, and I dont give much thought about the others what they think of me. dont get me wrong if I was born an Avghani I would have done the same!!
  22. We have been in diaspora for almost 90 years now,and as Armenians we have went a long way since than. Many of us shined in their careers in very difficult conditions,we have contributed to the culture ,economy, construction of the countries we were hosted, most of us are educated now more than the locals themselves,we even speak more languages than them,a substantial portion of our diaspora still calls himself Armenian despite evrything.(its unrealistic to say all of them). every and each Armenian was ussualy a good example of diligant and thrustworthy inteligent individuals,we were respected in every field that we contributed,so much so that we were envied from locals for many reasons. one of those reasons of envy was that we have clinched to our armenian heritage and went on SPEAKING ARMENIAN,this was one of the main reason of frustration. the other and not lesser was that most of Armenians went on to marry another Armenians, this was also a source of anger, while the requiered from us was a intermariage which would force owr assimilation. but still remained a big hole in all this we had no Country ,this was our own weakness, well as you know it is not so any more..!!all of the sudden we were transformed from a mere sect who lack confidance, yes this was the reason of our lack of confidance and still there are people like that among us,these are armenians who underestimate the indipendence of their own country and its merits and impect on Armenians all around the world.transformed into representatives of an indipendent country..!! when we came back from yerevan a month ago(me my wife and son)the mere mentioning opf our visit to a local Arab, gave the impression that he/she was heavily insulted..!!!! and always tried to avoid that subject with me. We are much more recognized in the world than you all think we are,may be there are some who are incofident, but there are lots of us who have great outlook into our future, there are people working for the armenians wherever they are those are people who will not come on this forum and tell what they do,because they dont care, their only concern is the well beeing of our people. And these are the people whou will shape the future of our nation and our people, not you not me..!!!
  23. Ive just tried it when I changed the the XP's language into Armenian the google site started in Armenian..
  24. To be dubbed good or bad famous or not ,couple of movies in Hollywood would be enough for you go either direction..!!
  25. Now if you consider what is written in this same forum about U.S funding fuell cell reaserch in yerevan, and Israelies are prepared at last to comamorate the Armenian genocide this year than what turks are trying to stear does make sence..!!
