Twilight Bark
Google now has the Armenian language option. If you are running Windows XP, it automatically recognizes the language setting and comes up with Armenian descriptions of options and commands. Maybe some day a Mashdots spelling option will become a reality as well.
alpha
I came acroos one of the funniest associations between google and Armenia. When you go to www.googlism.com and type Armenia one of the opinions of google about Armenia is - armenia is also known as "tamada country". This just cracked me up. Twilight Bark
Do you mean this? http://www.google.am/ Because I couldn't figure it out when this topic was posted. I just found out today... There's also this though: http://www.google.com/intl/hy/ style_images/master/snapback.png When the language option was selected to be Armenian [Edit: in Windows XP], the regular google site automatically switched to the armenian version. However, I later realized that it was an erratic or random thing that occurred with one computer and not another, even when they shared the same IP. It was probably still in development version when I stumbled on it. It appears now to be a standard option that doesn't need any incantations. Twilight Bark
Mashtots spelling? style_images/master/snapback.png "Western Armenian" spelling. But Persian Armenians also use it I think, so that wouldn't be an accurate statement (well, it wouldn't be accurate in any case). How about "classical" spelling? Edit note: Fixed spelling. Sip
Just wanted to bring back this thread in the hopes of sparking some discussions ... Has anyone been using the Armenian version of google (google.am)? How do you like it? Is there anything you don't like or any features you want to see added? Are there any language specific things in Armenian that might give google (or other english based search engines) some problems?

Are there any language specific things in Armenian that might give google (or other english based search engines) some problems? Are you asking these questions because you're the person who works for the Google Armenian department thingy? Well... for starters, the font is a bad choice because it's too small and narrow and hard to read and the spacing between the letters is a little off, so I would change it to a clearer font like Sylfaen (there may be other good ones). I second that with Elia, I suggest Arial AM, it's clear and you don't have to squint your eyes in order to read. I wish they made the Phonetic (Windows XP version) Armenian default in Arial AM, instead of Sylfaen
Դրօ
Ever since I discovered it, I've been using google.am all the time. However, I would much prefer it to be in the Mashtotsian orthography, so an option to switch between the two orthographies would be nice. vava
Guys, the font in your browser is user-defined. What appears miniscule in your browser may be the right size in someone else's. I believe you can change your browser's preferences to view sites in the font/size you wish - but you'll have to pay attention to unicode vs. ascii font encodings.
