Sip
I would like to dedicate this thread to the Culinary genius in each of us that has ever struck gold with that 5 minute recepie that not only made the stomach growls at 2AM go away, but has also managed to spark those indescribable joyful tingly feelings that start at the tip of the tongue and roll all the way into the pit of the stomach. I also wanted to share some of my own personal creations which hopefully I will one day turn into a 2-page cook book for the single guy who happens to enjoy food a lot. I'll start with 3 of my favorites: Sip's Special Dressing: (~2 minutes) --------------------------------- Rating: Somewhat healthy. Ingredients: Heintz ketchup, virgin olive oil, rice vinegar, lemon juice, salt and pepper, Sriracha hot sauce (not to be mistaken with this guy). Directions: Take a glass, mix ketchup, olive oil, vinegar, and lemon juice at desired ratios (I perfer 6:3:1:1) and salt and pepper to taste and a couple of drops of the Sriracha just for a bit of spice. You may want to add one or two tea spoons of water to achieve the desired consistency. Mix well before using. Vospov Matsun: (~15 minutes) ------------------ Rating: VERY healthy: It's basically all protein and fiber. Ingredients: Vosp (aka Lentil), Matsun (aka Yogurt) - can be non-fat, salt. Directions: Rinse the vosp in a pot of water. Dump the rinse water and add new water such that all vosp is submerged and you have some left over. Bring to a boil. Hint: By heating the water in separate containers on the stove, as well as in glasses in the microwave you can minimize the time required to bring the water to boil. In my personal experience, I can usually bring 8 cups of water to a rolling boil within 3 minutes. Cook the vosp until it's nice and soft .. for me, it takes anywhere from 10-20 minutes depending on the vosp and depending on the desired softness. After cooking, drain the water, mix with the cold yogurt, salt to taste and enjoy. Turkey Burger ala Sip: (~5 minutes) ----------------------------------- Rating: Pretty healthy but tastes heavenly Ingredients: Frozen turkey burger patties, frozen potato pancakes, salad stuff in a bag, tortilla bread, crunchy sour krout that comes in a jar, grated cheese, sliced cheese of your choice, Sriracha hot sauce, ketchup, mustard of your choice ... I prefer dijon but not spicy stuff. Required equipment: George Forman Grill (any size) Directions: Turn on the gril and put the frozen turkey burger patty and the potato pancake on the gril. If they don't fit side by side, microwave the potato pancake until the turkey burger starts getting smaller (oh it will, trust me). Then put side by side. While that's cooking, fire up the stove and throw the round tortila bread on a pan (no oil no nothing) and toast it a bit. Sprinkle the grated cheese on the bread until it starts to melt. You don't want the bread to over toast at this point. Take off the fire and put on paper plate. Turkey burger should be about ready now (~5 mins passed). Put on bread and slap on the slice of cheese (preferably monterey jack). Put some of that crunchy sour krout on the gril where the burger patty was. Pour ketchup and mustard on the cheese slice and a few drops of the Sriracha. Place potato pancake on top and give it more ketchup. Now it's time to sprinke your salad stuff on there and if you want pickles or what not. Top off with the grilled sour krout. Fold everything together. Fire up the pan once again and place burger on there ... give it another 30 seconds or so until the tortilla is nice and redish brown and crunchy on all sides. Don't forget to unplug the grill

Anileve
Tuna in a can Extra jan, sounds simply divine! But I must mention that in case of an upset stomach tuna might in fact make your stomach go from “upset” to “raging mad”. However, tuna on the other hand can control weight, while potatoes tend to inflate stomach walls in several directions. In conclusion it’s a tie 1:1. Azatyush ..... It almost sounded like a Romance Novel.

Sip
Potatos ala Sip: ----------------------- Same as Evilina except step 2 goes after step 4. Much easier to peel that way. Tuna ala Sip: --------------------- Same as extra's method with the following addition: After draining, add a generous squirt of Ketchup and 1 tablespoon of relish. Tuna-Melt ------------ Ingredients: 1 can tuna drained, some oregano, lemon juice, ketchup, salt, pepper, grated cheese. Refer to above for preperation. Add a pinch of oregano instead of relish. Fire up a non-stick pan on the stove ... no oil no butter nothing. Just a couple of drops of olive oil to prime the pan. Throw tuna on pan in the form of a pancake and heat until firm and brown. Flip a couple of times. When the nuna is nicly krisp, sprinkle generous amount of cheese on it and flip a couple more times. Serving suggestion: Best served on toast while it's hot. nairi
Vay, you guys are so gross, esp. you Sip with your ketchup! Here's my salad dressing: Rating: healthy Ingredients: few drops of olive oil, lemon, salt and pepper to taste. As for the salad, you can put whatever you want in it. I usually go for lettuce, brocolli, raw mushrooms, yellow peppers, radish, tomatoes, cucumber and sometimes tuna. Another one is spinach yoghurt: Ingredients: chopped spinach (you can buy this frozen, just heat it until it's defrosted -- can be done in a few minutes in microwave), yoghurt, salt and pepper. Mix and eat as a side dish or dip with bread Oh I sometimes use it as a dip for chips A variant to this is cucumber yoghurt: chopped cucumbers (in little blocks), yoghurt, salt and pepper. And of course bean (lobi) salad: Ingredients: brown beans, chopped onion, a few drops of olive oil, lemon, salt and pepper. Variant is chick pea or vosp salad, with the standard dressing: olive oil, lemon, salt and pepper. Oh sometimes I used lime instead of lemon: same taste except the ingredients stay fresh longer. Anileve
May I remind you that tabuleh is the best thing for a single guy. What kind of a single guys is that? I'm sorry but around here, no single guy can make tabuleh. That takes time and effort. Fadyush that looks like Mylanta, what exactly does it ensure? Smooth bowel movements? Maral jan, those potatoes are amazing with some extra spices. Sip, I am so glad you can't invite me for dinner, otherwise I would be prepared to taste different quantities of ketchup. Harut, you are a perve and succeeded in spoiling my appetite. Nairi, bean salad is my favorite...yuuummm Azatyush, that seems like a very sturdy can opener, one that doesn't bend after opening a few cans.
