bellthecat
Steve, Nasty used to spam on another thread with Turkish nationalist propaganda, denialaist crap and pictures of Ataturk and Turkish flag and such (he also gave insults)... while Domino could be entertained by rebuking Nasty I (personally, not as a moderator) feel like genocide deniers like Nasty should not be allowed on this board Don't know about the spam point (I was just refering to this thread and don't know what he's be up to elsewhere) but I don't think anyone should be contemplating banning people for "moral" reasons. If we start on that road then when would that sort of thing stop - ban those that think 1 million were killed rather than 2 million? And, apart from the possibility of that longterm damage, you are just going to give him the satisfaction of thinking he is important and correct, (which he isn't on both counts!). Steve
THOTH
That should be either count Steve...or neither in the case of the negative - as in: You are neither correct in your assertions nor are you important enough for anyone to care in either event....(being correct...which your not..or incorrect...which you are...) And, apart from the possibility of that longterm damage, you are just going to give him the satisfaction of thinking he is important and correct, (which he isn't on both counts!). Steve Yes Steve, banning people on moral grounds is wrong, I agree. Because it is a subjective ground. If we ever have to ban genocide deniers it would not be easy to write down a clear and objective rule for that. However, I have very little sympathy for Nasty who said (among other trash) "mongol but brave like in 1915" in this thread. It is apparent that this guy is not here to have a scholarly debate. And agreed on the point of giving him satsifaction and self-importance... well, before banning we could make an effort to explain him that he is one of the least important and most incorrect people in Turkey
vava
Steve - if we wanted to just ban him - we would have - it's really quite a simple operation. But we haven't - so i don't see the point of defending him. At least, not yet... When he crosses the line, (and he surely will) we'll act appropriately... bellthecat
That should be either count Steve...or neither in the case of the negative - as in: You are neither correct in your assertions nor are you important enough for anyone to care in either event....(being correct...which your not..or incorrect...which you are...) "Which he is not on both counts" means exactly the same as "which he is not on either count". And mine is clearer - when did you last hear a judge say "you are guilty on either count"? Are you going to teach your granny to suck eggs next?
bellthecat
well, before banning we could make an effort to explain him that he is one of the least important and most incorrect people in Turkey I've a feeling that that's going to take a lot of effort! Keep him here if only just to laugh at him.
Arpa
Why are we getting bent all out of shape? This has been the best propaganda for us that we could not afford to buy. Let them kick all they want, the more they kick the deeper they will sink. They are making themselves the laughing stock of the world. This is the most ridiculously hilarious thread ever. Let us laugh!! The Turks, by merely fighting so hard to ban this movie are virtually confessing to the sin. What a bunch of cowards them Turks!! Let' suppose that a Turk had made a movie about the imagined genocide perpetrated on the Turks by the Armenian, what a comedy would that be!! Would not we lobby to have it shown on worldwide TV on the Comedy Channel? Would not we be the first to play at the Comedy theater in Yerevan named after Hakob Baronian? What a bunch of cowards!! They know truth hurts. If the Genocide was a figment of somebody's imagination then why are they so afraid to show it? Could not they show it as a comedy and have thier polulation have a big laugh? Let them make a movie about how we massacred them and we will show it in the Comedy theater , we will all be dressed as clowns and have a great knee slapping time!!! He laughs best who laughs last!! Let's have a wonderful laughing time with all this comedy that only a Turk can (re)write.
gamavor
Not necessarily - depend's exactly what he thinks the word "stupid" means - since you can tell from his use of English he is not a native speaker. Steve, I disagree. Nasty's English is very similar to the way American natives speak. I guess he is Native. BTW, I don't think that turks coming to this forum should be banned. (They should be BAMED, but that is different story ). Simply moderators shouldn't allow ANY turk to come here. We have seen plenty of them - from ultra liberal to ultra conservative. Do we need them. NO. Lets keep this place ARmenian, International and Civil, - without turks of course. Edited January 17, 2004 by gamavor

If you fail to recognize this I advise seeking help. Then I have some comments: 1. I believe Stormy is a she. Do your research before you blurt something out. 2. Yes, why should you care about his grandfather or about anyone? It's better for you to care for upholding Turkish propaganda. 3. Of course we won't forget. How could we forget? Why should we forget? You wonder when Turko-Armenian ties will improve? When Turkey starts recognizing it's crimes and APOLOGIZES. We're not the ones who have to make amends here. Ignorance is bliss nasty. Continue to live in it and you will be happy. Edited January 17, 2004 by gurgen

gurgen
I think he doesn't. It's a favourite of denialists of the genocide to paint the Holocaust as a horrendous crime and disban all similiarities with the Armenian genocide. Stormig
No, I was more wondering if he agrees with "how can you call something that took place before 'genocide' was defined to be a genocide?" His beloved Senol Kantarci did not correct that, and I personally think it was so much worse than Hrant Dink calling the Ottoman quelling of the uprising an "invasion" - therefore, Senol must agree with that and not only agree but actually endorse it. But do let us not expect to be [pleasantly] suprised, for this troll likely constantly monitors the forum and pops in only when it suits him - I know the likes of him. Face it, Nasty, you and your idols are LOOOOOOOOOOOSERS and as long as you keep it up like this, talking about Raffi when asked about Lemkin, you shall remain so! All you do is admire Kantarci's haughtiness, you understand NOT A WORD of what is being discussed! Even the "documentary" Sari Gelin had so many flaws in it, like interviewing descendents of Kars Armenians after mentioning how docile Turkish soldiers were to deportees, when Kars Armenians were not subjected to the marches (because Kars was part of Czarist Russia at the time) but in fact had to flee in the wake of the Turkish army. You kid only yourselves.
gurgen
No, I was more wondering if he agrees with "how can you call something that took place before 'genocide' was defined to be a genocide?" Maybe he's too stupid to understand that without a genocide happening there wouldn't be a convention on it and a definition of it.

America-Hye
We will carve the "Turkey" as Americans carve their Turkey at Thanksgving. Turkey is sidling up to Syria, from whom Turkey has STOLEN land in the Antioch region and Iran which has a potential Azeri seperatist minority around Tabriz. This alliance is directed toward the Kurds. If the Americans desert the Kurds, their Iraq policy will deteriorate very quickly. They are the only major solid allies they have in Iraq. The will soon be an independent Kurdistan. Armenian, Greece, Kurdistan drooling in anticipation to devour Turkey.

America-Hye
Nasty, So your nation has found common ground with Syria and Iran to deprive the Kurds of a land of thier own. For Turkey this is nothing new. Do not think that the Arabs can forget the treatment they recieved from Turks over the centuries. Do not think that the Syrian government forgets that your country stole part of their nation in 1939. As for Iran, an Islamic nation which maintains close ties with Armenia, a Christian nation, do not think that ever-present in thier minds are the Azeris who want to join with Azerbaijan into one nation. The Americans will not sell-out the Kurds, their strongest allies in Iraq. Your nation has proved to be an unrelaible ally to the US. Your influence is ebbing. The American public is well aware of your nation's duplicity toward the US.
Armen
The Americans will not sell-out the Kurds, their strongest allies in Iraq. This is true. As soon as Russia is out of Caucasus, Turkey will have hard time. And Kurds are not only US strongest allies in Iraq but I think in the Middle East (they're going to become even stronger ally than Israel). If the US gives Kurds a state, Kurds will have to pay back with long time loyalty and the US could use the Kurdish army (just immagine what an army could Kurds have with US assistance and training) against Iran, Iraq, Syria or any other country in the region. And we have to remember that Kurdistan was in Wilson's plan of world order, which is being implemented at present. bellthecat
The Americans will not sell-out the Kurds, their strongest allies in Iraq. Who needs enemies when you have Kurds as "allies". But it's appropriate since Americans are almost as unreliable as Kurds when it comes to keeping alliances and treaties.

Armen
The Americans will not sell-out the Kurds, their strongest allies in Iraq. Refering to undeniable logic of Lord Palmerstone, the coming US-Kurdish alliance is no going to take into account the historical behaviour of both sides. It's just that the US and Kurdish intersets perfectly complete each other in the region.
