THOTH jan, let me get home and I shall reveal all of my purchases, since typing about my overwhelming feelings of joy will take 10,000 words and a good 30 minutes with a cigarette to read! I went all out and depleted my savings, but I am a happy camper. I like my gadgets more than I like shoes! (and that is a lot for a woman!)

Wow Ani jan - that is saying something! But shoes can be cool too (I mean those sexy ones on a lady that is)..and yeah were all ears! And its nice to see gals who can appreciate techno stuff - I mena most of it is pretty cool IMO...LOl - but I am a guy eh? Another thing..and I hope you don't mind my occasional flirt and such and comment of a sexual nature - but I really think that we have a mission to disprove the assertion that feminism somehow diminishes sexiness and play between the sexes - nothing could be further from the truth IMO - as it liberates the female to speak her mind and be more open (and what could be sexier then that IMO)..and also guys who is comfortable with women - I mean that - as women - not just as wives or servants or what have you - well - thats liberating too and to me allows for more freeplay interaction and basically opens everythign up - to more fun, for more serious - open and equal talk - all of it....so kudos to ya sexy elfkin!

Great minds think alike! :P I think it's the same crap.

Compact Flash is more expensive I think and memory transfer rate is slower but sopports high storage.

Secure Digital is less expensive supports less storage but I think lower quality. I might be wrong though.

anileve, LMAO about the broklyn company ... they did the same thing to me! I was very confused when the guy asked me if I had a boyfriend :D

I was trying to tell him that the rating on their "exteded" batteries for $30 were half that of the $10 one I could buy off of ebay. Well, half hour later I found out through email that the thing I wanted to buy was out of stock

About secure digital vs compact flash ... to the average user it's just a different standard. CompactFlash is more widely accepted and used but SD is gaining popularity and is much more streamlined and sexy from what I have seen. I like compactflash since all the circuitry is built into the CF package. You can just plug it into any PCMCIA port (laptop) using a very cheap adapter and read it straight off ... i.e. you don't need special readers and what not.

I don't know exact technical differences but at least traditionally (i.e. as of few months ago), compact flash has been cheaper than SD. If I were to buy something, I'd probably lean more towards compactflash since I am so used to them and already have a few cards. But in buying a new camera, it's probably not that big an issue although you may want to consider memory costs if you plan to get additional chips.

I've said it before in this thread but the Sandisk ULTRA II CF cards are simply amazing right now. I am very impressed with the speed and the price is very reasonable.

HAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!! :lol2: Vay tsava tanem that was a good one! I tried to cancel the battery when I found out I was swindled, however he refused to listen according to him, he lowered the price of the battery "especially" for me from $129 to $69.99 " a very special deal!" When I checked out a website I realized that $69 was the price, BASTARD! And then when I called to complain to his manager he told me that he was the supervisor, the manager and the Boss... Anyhoo, I just cancelled the order and got myself a better deal with a much better service! And yes those companies do that, they promise something that is out of stock, that's why it takes them 2 weeks to deliver although I live like 10 miles away... :D BASTARDS!!!

Vava jan kenatset!

Hey guys, the prices in Oz are too much, if I can get something from US shipped I will be able to get the S400 - can you suggest a reliable merchant with reasonable prices for shipping: I wanna get the camera and the flash card. :)

Cheers.

F2.1/8

The detail is incradable I had to reduce the quality to post it here but in its raw format it is just superb.

Armat jan, the lighting in those photos is amazing! They look nearly 3D. How did you manage to capture it so exceptionally well with a regular camera?

Accelerator check this site out:

www.bizrate.com

They pretty much pull out all of the stores and compare the prices for you.

This place ships for about $75 to Australia and the price is $329.99. Check out the best deals for the lowest shipping price before you buy. Also newegg.com has the best service, yet! (I just thought that I would throw it in there).

Fak it, too much hassle/uncertainty - thanks anyway guys, Im just gonna pick up the A80 from here. Its the best deal I have found works out to be about 500USD. The best price for the S400 I found here was AUS750 which works out to be about 600USD, almost double US prices, in the shops its AUS900 :o . If I had time I wuold have considered having it shipped to you, Azat - but as it is I need it pretty urgently.

Close one eye, and look at the picture again. See if you'll see it more "3D". My brain apparently turns on a different mechanism to synthesize a "3D" vision from other depth cues when I close one eye. I don't know how common this is.

Try it with a clear TV picture as well (which may work even better since the depth cues are more abundant due to motion). Let's see what percentage of people here can see what I mean.

Hence the reason we have two eyes... triangulation. The three points of the triangle being our two eyes, and the object. The intersecting point of the lines of site from each eye determines the depth/distance of the object. Of course this works in combination with other perceptions, relative sizes of objects etc... When we remove one eye, the brain is left without true depth perception, but only relies on the other information available - ie. the information you already know: for instance, a house is bigger than a car, so if they appear to be the same size, than the car must be much closer in proximity than the house. This effect is probably emphasized by TV, as it actually is a 2D medium, whereas the images within contain quite accurate depth information. So the brain, left with only one eye, and looking only at the TV screen, will re-contruct the scene in 3D. :) I think that's clear, no?

Yes Vava, but what I mean is a "true" 3D vision despite using one eye, and only when looking at a 2D picture with one eye closed. If you look at the picture with both eyes, the "backup" mechanism is not triggered. It's amazing how the brain can synthesize a pretty good "true" 3D perception by using cues such as focusing, perspective, and motion. I mean it looks 3D. Have you observed the enhancement I am talking about?
