ExtraHye
Sip (& Domino) - OK - if it works for you fine...and Sip your right - being alone or what not - doesn't have to equate to loneliness...just hope that if & when it does you haven't lost the ability to do something about it...and in some ways thats what casual or shorter term etc relationships can be about - teaching one how to care about another and not just oneself...because if there would come a time where you would want/feel the need for companionship...you may not know how to find it and finding it you maynot know how to act (towards nother person) to keep it etc...not saying that this will be true - but its a possibility...and Domino - sorry if I couldn't convince - but I think what "bruin is saying is true - its not something that can easily be rationalized - you must feel it...and if you don't well - perhaps it isn't for you (yet?)....hope for your sake that you are able and get the oppurtunity to feel such though....its a feeling not to be missed in life I think... Love is something that just happens when you least expect it (so I've heard)... So I'm sure they'll fall in love when the time is right.. UKGIRL28
Love is a powerful feeling. It can hurt like hell and it can make you feel like your on cloud 9! Have you ever noticed that a majority of music around in the charts is about love! People longing to be in love, people falling in love and people being hurt by love... THOTH
Well said & so true UKGIRL...love can indeed hurt...but it must be worth (?) something to us - because we always come back for more....
UKGIRL28
Yeah, I know THOTH... I supose life's all about having balance, if love makes you feel good, then you have to be prepared to be hurt also..its that pleasure/pain thang isnt it? Good/bad, hot/cold, happy/sad etc..everything works in pairs and neither can survive without the other - Just like in The Matrix, Neo (Good guy) needs Agent Smith (Bad guy) to become more powerful! Im seeing Matrix Revolutions tomorrow, is it any good???
THOTH
UKGIRL - well I suppose you might be right...the bad sometimes does necissarily come with the good (though not always I think...) And the reviews of Revolutions have not been good (though I suppose it will be entertaining)...I ws afraid it might just devolve into the Zion war (and it apparently does)...and this is just a pattern that makes for a bad movie - we've seen it before. I was quite entertained by the last one - and absolutly love the first one...having doubts about this last installment...but hopefully it will have something of value... UKGIRL28
What is first love worth, except to prepare for a second? What does second love bring? Only regret for the first. Our relationships provide valuable education, for greater Self-awareness, knowledge garnered only through intimate interaction with significant others. We sometimes need to experience the fire of painful relationships in order to ignite our soul's evolution. But no relationship is amistake. Each "stumbling block" is actually a firm stepping stone guiding us toward enlightenment and ultimate happiness.

CheekY
someone i know married her high school boyfriend(probably 1st “love”) who she’d known since the first grade…after marriage he became violent…i think they got divorced in the end.i can’t understand how someone can change so much so quickly…is “love” completely blind or does marriage turn men ito beasts??why do people pretend they’re all sweet and perfect to make someone fall for them and after the wedding treat them like s**t?! what the hell are they thinking?? am i dumb or it really doesn’t make any sense? Nefertiti
I think love is an illusion.. its a sensitive and vulnerable state of soul that we crave to experience.. Its good to be in love.. give and get max affection, attention, care, dedication.. but it takes two to tango.. I do give credit to those who have a mature love, appreciate and idolize their significant other and have a balanced and healthy approach to life.. Everyone has a different deff for love, everyone defines it from their own experience.. and those who haven't experienced, it means you always had a healthy conscious... Even if you do experience, just enjoy the moment and don't worry what happens, where it leads to, are you going to be together forever... Its all in the mind and we think the way it suits us.. drama, that's all.. and no matter how cool you are, you still look for it sometimes in life... UKGIRL28
so a first love never really lasts? aren't there any exceptions? I think a first love can last, it normally doesnt, but its possible that it could.. if two pple really want to be together, then they will work at it to make it last for however long, which is not easy, but it can be done. The important thing to remember is that people change, and when they do, relationships change also, nothing is set in stone, so you have to keep working at it. THOTH
Are you telling that you'RE old enough to know everything? Did I ever say/claim that? But yeah - I (obviously) think that I knw a lot (applying what I know may be another story..)...and yeah - much has to do with age/experience...but not all - some is just well ...knowing/understanding things... and much is just from observation of course... So i think love not only lasts...it grows (or can often do so)....regardless of hormonal/chemical stuff (and why 7 years? don't inderstand how this works...[see i don't know everything! LOL] And UKGIRL - once again a very perceptive post. You are entirely corect - people do change - and this can certainly become a factor...causing changes in the relationship...but if there is a fundemental core to the love...there is no reason why the love can't evolve with these changes...will it always happen - no...and thats just life...but if you care enough you'll make it work etc (IMO)...and never know - new aspects to the love may even emerge...as I think often occurs and I certainly feel I have experienced this myself with my wife.... CheekY
THOTH you're giving me more hope hehe cuz most people are saying love doesn't last and i believe it does...if you really want it to...i'm more of a realist though but i do have my own 'lil world... "The important thing to remember is that people change, and when they do, relationships change also, nothing is set in stone, so you have to keep working at it." if that's the case then people shouldn't get married at all? ...when you live with someone for a long time you change...become more like them in a way...i think...or not? oh damn lol i should get married first then start talkin
THOTH
Yes Skittles - you should't go into a serious relationship thinking it isn't going to last - I mean what is the point then. But you certainly need to be realisitc - becuase people do change...you will change - your expectations and what you want in life and your interests etc all change/evolve - thus to maintain any relationship over time one muct be prepared to work at it - always. And as long as both parties are commited - and if for whatever reason they haven't grown apart - or grown aprt beyond salvageability - there is no reason that it can't work. But sometimes - if folks have eveolved into different directions - it might just be best to go seperate ways - I mean why live ones life being miserable or missing out regarding what you want out of it? (such as having children etc..where it might not be an issue intitialy - later well...it becomes important...and people change their minds about things) etc...make sense?
