Is It True That Guys Don't Like Nice Gals....

Most want somebody with an edge and who is a challenge. Few want someone extremely "nice" from the very beginning who throws themselves at them.  This occurs on both sides.

True, but I meant "nice" as in sense of someone (guys or gals) being considerat, punctual, willing to give a helping hand when needed. <_<

In that case I guess "nice" is a good thing. It is for me. But not for everyone, especially those who are younger and get caught up in that "I'm a player, I want a player, etc." mentality. Sometimes that bad boy/bad girl image prevails. Many like getting played. But this happens with those who are younger I think. By the time people are ready to settle down or grow more mature, they get tired of all that and look for those qualities you mentioned more.

imo- i myself as a girl love it when a guy is "nice"- opens doors for you...polite...respectful and punctual-very important....but in a guys point of view- in terms of guys liking "nice" girls- definition of nice being- a good girl, respectful, not a whore-bitchy-lol i think guys when they are young dont really care who they go out w/ as long as they get a lil something from the girl- but as guys get older and at the age where they have decided that they want to have a family- they tend to look for a girl- or in this case a woman who is capable of raising a family and growing old together--almost like the saying- something like-date the wild and rebelious and "dirty" girl, but bring home the nice and proper/honorable girl... but imo there should be double standards for such things as- some guys screw around but expect to get with a good grl and have too many "expectations" from them.... ;)

LOL - well many make the mistake of thinking that nice/polite & such on the surface/in public means the same behind closed doors...well I can attest that this is not always true. I had one very (sexually etc) wild/adventurous/aggressive g/f that none of my friends could believe was such at all - as she was such a sweety and so mild and shy (seemingly) :angel_not:...so its the old - you can't always judge the book...etc And on the other hand - its always fun bringing out the wickedness in the prim & proper types...just need the right motivation! LOL :pimp:

I think it's opposite. I feel many girls enjoy a challenge, a "tough guy" or a "thug" when guys usually don't want to put up with the stress. :P How many times to you see or know of a guy who's girlfriend is just punking him around? And he stays with her? Girls are famous for taking various levels of disrespect or abuse from loser guys. I'd venture to say that guys want it to be as smooth as possible with a girl, they don't like too much drama.

Probably because we're all too lazy... :sleep1:

Gawd, today I was reading something just about this but it didn't occur to me to post it here. I would've looked so smart. :P

and?

And Sev-Mard - I totally agree. You don't know how many of my (gal) friends over the years have gone with/for such guys...and end up comming crying on my shoulder...even had to rough up one guy a bit...just to keep in in line some...LOL...but sometimes it seems that they never learn...and keep going back to the same..

What does it mean "too nice"? In my book, if a person is "too nice", that person would respect the reasonable wishes of the other person. I think here, "too nice" is meant to say too suffocating ... paying too much attention ... being too involved and too attached (I am guessing). That is probably an inaccurate use of the word nice.

But the way I view "too nice" is being able to detect what the other person wants and doing one's best to satisfy those wishes ... if mischievousness is desired, that too ;)

So I personally can't see what possibley can be wrong with "too nice".

Sorry to tell you this ape, but you can be 'too nice'. Girls like an edge, many will tell you(if you ask them nice) that they don't want a guy who is too nice, because he seems soft. Not really in a bad way, they just don't want the perfect gentlemen. Because the demeanor of a 'guy with problems' or a 'guy with attitude' is more attractive to them. I'm telling you, if you're super nice to most girls(not all) you'll blow it.

Me, I've studied at the feet of women to hone my persona into that of they "Nice guy with an Edge." Works like a charm.. :notworthy:

I'm not saying it's right, i'm not saying it makes sense, i'm just saying that's the way that it is...

Yeah Sev-Mard - I believe your right...for whatever reason. In many ways I'm glad I don't have to deal with all that anymore...but in a lot of ways I miss it terribly...LOL (some of it is that - knowing what i know now sort of thing...etc)...heh enjoy it while you can...

I think girls can tell apart "desparate nice" and "genuine nice". I would argue those two are very different. Some guys are nice because they are desparately seeking something. That seems to me is a big turn off to girls. Some guys are "genuinely nice" but don't come off as needy, desparate, clingy, insecure, etc. Girls have a real soft spot for that type of nice (someone with a true character of his own). My personal opinion of course ... I may or may not be right.

True, you could tell when someone is trying too hard "desparate" .... or an all around nice guy.... Most girls that I know would love to go out with a nice guy (not desparate that is)...
