vava
So I make a quick stop at KFC and get the 8 piece meal that comes in the bucket of chicken and two sides ... mashed potatos and cole slaw. Of course after I get done ordering, what does the cashier lady ask me? Yup ... "For here or to go?" C'mon Sip - you could easily polish off the 8 pieces of gristle & fat that they call the Colonel's Chicken.... no?
Stormig
Uhm, question for the elders here - well, anyone, basically, but... Well, you see, my advisor last Friday mentioned this conference next year on the phone and something about the possibility of us co-authoring a paper - except today he didn't mention it when we were face to face. Should I remind him??? I'm feeling insecurity creeping up - "What if he has changed his mind??" sort of thing. What would be the best way to approach him about it? Likely he has forgotten about it for the time being, since it is hardly priority.

Stormig
Sasun, I didn't mean geriatrics. I merely didn't want juveniles with loose stools horsing around.

I ment to ask you, totally sliped my mind" You know that kind of stuff, you women know how to that sort of things if you know what I mean I,m sure he forgot
nairi
Maybe he's testing your ability to cope with silence I think it depends on your relationship with him. Then again, I'm not old
Sasun
I just got news. The company I work for (a very major company) is undergoing a huge cut in the division where I work, something like 80-90% cut of workforce. I was part of a tech team of 10 people. Now out of those ten 9 have been fired, I am the only one left. Am I lucky or what? One more reason to thank God

Anoushik
Wow, Armat, I'm sorry to have read that. If the car got totaled then it means that it was a very serious accident. I'm just glad that your wife and your kids are OK.
Sip
When you say "truck", do you mean an 18 wheeler? Armat jan I am VERY happy to hear they are ok. Hope insurance (hopefully not yours) will cover the car.
Armat
This Truck's driver, (a big moving truck not 18 wheeler)according to my wife( I was not there) had been chasing her for two miles since she got in the front of him-I never do that- since you don't want to upset this dope heads who are too bored and slight provication sets them on distractive path... Anyway she said he wanted perhaps to punish her for getting in front perhaps too close.Hard thing to proove to police but still upset about it.That mf could of killed my family. You guys be easy on the roads they are too many whackos out there. Accelerated
yes Armat, glad to hear no one was hurt. You should always keep away from the trucks, some of the drivers are on drugs (speed/'goey') to keep awake in order to make their destinations on schedule making them even more dangerous. Azat
A concept to managers(it is new for them but the common folk know this) Having additional meetings with software developers and interrogating them on project status does not shorten the project length. DominO123
A concept to managers(it is new for them but the common folk know this) Having additional meetings with software developers and interrogating them on project status does not shorten the project length. Your answer can be interpretated both ways. Supposes that a project is 30 days long, and that there is an accumulative of 2 days of meetings and discussions. That is a total of 32 days. Now the additionl meetings not changing the project length means that it took 32 days... if the accumulative days of meetings have increased... this means that the project works has shortned. OK! OK! I admit I had nothing to say, I just decided today that I was going to answer in this thread and did not knew what to answer so I just answered something. Sip
A wise friend of mine long time ago once said, business meetings with managers are where minutes are taken but hours lost.
