Takoush
Poor guy needs more customers to sing to. Come to think of it, his voice is really nice and rich. And you're right Yervant, they should've tried to take him on video when the restaurant was full of people.
Arpa
Poor guy needs more customers to sing to. This kind of endeavor should not be ridiculed but rather encouraged. Aramazd knows there are enough here and otherwise to ridicule our culture. Some time ago we went to a so called dinner theater (in the general Boston area) and we got a treat, if more delicious than the food. After we were seated and served the obligatory glass of water by beautiful young men and women, all of a sudden the house lights were turned up and all of our servers appeared in strategic locations. It turned out all the servers were students of music at the local conservatory. They put on such a wonderful show, mixing classical to folk to broadway. Then they consequently served our orders, to once again put on another wonderful show while we ate. I don’t remember what I ate, or even if did eat at all, yet I will never forget that beautiful spectacle, I can, after so many years even remember some of the beautiful faces, be they girls or boys. Let us not knock him down. He does sing beau fully, even if unaccompanied, and sometimes slightly off key or with the best of his vocal potential, some of our so called professional singers should be so culturally trained. Just as above, the dinner theater. During my subsequent visits Yerevan I have noticed that restaurant servers have become younger and younger, as opposed to the sour pussed and highy offensive, I mean offensive, as when they did not like the tip they would tell you in no uncertain terms, fifty-sixty year old men leftover from Soviet favoristic (member of the ComKous) era. They have been imitating all the wrong cultures of the west. It is time they also copy some of the better, like staffing public places with “starving” students, specially in the entertainment business, be it restaurants, night clubs or touristic sites. Yes, I did, during my last visit notice that many of them were in fact beautiful students of either gender, be it of the arts, history or culture in general. Ps. Anahid, I have already expressed my sentiments in a PM, about those who, in less than half a dozen words constantly ridicule our culture. Arpa jan; OK I forgot about that and I took him seriously and have answered him; but I have stressed it in my first post, before his post that I appreciated the man's rich voice, because I truly did. I didn't even think of the half empty seats then. I have only appreciated his nice Armenian singing coming from the heart. By the way, in N.J. in an Italian restaurant in a mall that the set up is like a cafe; I have twice encountered beautiful young girls singing classical songs; their voices were like nightingales. I do relate to your above experience; Arpa. I have also appreciated it very much, as I happen to sing classical songs myself.

Yes, we have those Italian restaurants here as well, and I make it a point to reward those "starving artists" generously. Is it because I may be a frrustrated artist myself. No I don't make a living singing even if I at times have sang for monetary compensation. Yes, I did receive your PM. Anahid, I have begged you on bended knee, be it in private or public to please, please and please again read the posts time and again, a million times if need be, read between the lines as well, understand the spirit to see who is saying what and why. I just sent a sympathy card to a dear friend, sympathizing with them on the demise of their father. How about some applause and encouragement instead. After all they are our children trying to make a living against all odds. Sarcasm has a limit too. Save it to the likes of "zur-deve"! But let aside I was certainly not making fun of it; the contrary I thought it was very nice and I have appreciated him and his song. I have always appreciated and showed my appreciation and gave my sincere encouragement towards Gamavor or others who have posted here about our culture a great many times, even much more than others. By now you know enough about me already. I don't have to talk about myself any more than I must. But many here including yourself at times jumped at a given post or didn't read or didn't make time to read the whole thread. That certainly does not qualify a person to be empty headed thank you. Takoush
And furthermore, how is it that even in the humor section when your cronies laugh, make jokes and have fun it is not bombarded by you and bullied and with the same person too; yet you do it to me several times now. Stop bullying me, and start concentrating on your own posts. Enough is enough already. Edited January 17, 2007 by Anahid Takouhi

Yervant1
oh how cool...someone should do that in English or Armenian for me Ingredients 4 eggs 1 egg yolk 250gr. of sugar 1 cup of milk 250gr. of butter 90gr. of active yeast 1kg. of flour 20gr. of Malheb for flavouring if desired Add little bit of milk to active yeast along with 2 tea spoons of sugar and mix them all together, leave it for 15 minutes to rest. Pour 1 cup of milk and sugar to butter. Place it on the burner on slow heat to melt. Beat 4 eggs with pinch of salt, add flour, add butter mixture and knead by hand. Add malheb, add yeast continue kneading and turn it into one big ball. Cover the dough with wet cloth and let it rest for few hours. Separate the dough to 9 equall balls and group them into 3 balls, roll them out and braid them, lastly brush them up with egg yolk for finishing. Bake for 10 minutes at 160 degrees. Bari Akhorjak.
