vava Posted January 28, 2006 Report Share Posted January 28, 2006 Squeaky Shocks!! Already?! The car has only 6000 kms on it.... Ok - it's cold outside. Could that be the reason that my fairly new AWD wagon is squeaking? The squeak is coming from the right rear suspension assembly - could be the springs/shocks *(I'm not too technical). It sounds like I'm sitting on a squeaky bed, and it happens when I drive over even the smallest of bumps, sometimes on larger bumps I hear the same noise from the right front as well. I have just noticed it, so I haven't seen the dealer yet - any advice on what I could say that may motivate them to fix the problem? I have a suspicion that they'll claim it's normal..... One of the reasons I bought a new car, was to get rid of my previous squeak-machine (but my old car had 120 000 kms) - I certainly hope that these squeaks are not something I have to learn to live with . Sip Posted January 30, 2006 Report Share Posted January 30, 2006 Vava, it is very hard to diagnose something like that but it almost sounds like a normal squeek. Has it been very dry lately? I'd say give the car a good wash ... the kind that sprays the bottom. Then get yourself a can of WD40 and spray down any moving part of the shock and spring that you might see coming in contact with other things. That is the easiest solution I can give you when it's really cold and you can't roll around the car too long  That should take care of your squeeks at least temporarily. I figure some of the joints are 'looser' as everything shrinks as it gets so cold. Tried the wash & lube thing, and haven't had many squeaks since but it hasn't bee quite as cold. You guys remember a few years ago we had an ice storm so bad, that more than half a million homes were without power for weeks. Downtown was an apocolyptical emptiness - towering skyscrapers, no lights, no vehicles, just ice and a frozen emptiness. Pretty trippy. It was run into a couple of times during the years and re-done. I need new tires for the first time, and new shock absorbers on all 4's. The abuse its taken is crazy, especially for a midsize pickup. Everything is working perfectly fine except the stereo system that somehow I managed to blow up (aftermarket system)... ehh.. haven't used anythign but an ipod for a year anyways. Â However, i was offroading a couple of months ago and though this certain trail i had been on many times before, I had forgotten there were so many joshua trees around. I came down a curvey hill way to fast, as i was deseprately steering away from the trees and to stay on the trail goin down a very sandy hill.. I managed to get my right rear mudflap shear the the las joshua tree before the end of the trail.. and it ripped half of the wheel well moulding right off. No other damage to the body though. I was thankful, and.. do not regret it at all, it was too much fun. Â Also, to be able to better afford my commuting costs to college, i am soon getting a civic or a corolla or something..
