Of course everyone here would support you, with everything you have done to present Armenia and Armenians in the world, you have one of the best sites about the Armenians in the world, I remember when I first got interested to the Armenian issue more then 3 years ago, your site was my prime source.

Raffi jan, great site you got.Don't let the few Armenians take the spotlight no matter how absurd their ideas are.WE are little exagirating about their percieved damage to Armenian cause.AS Ara Beliozian often mentions even a broken clock shows the correct time once every twelve hours.I will take our radicals over none Armenians. We are just a family and as such few rotten apples are always present.God bless.

I assume by "real Armenians", he means the hardcore, quasi-xenophobic, only hang with Armenians and do Armenian-related activity Hyes. You know Domino, this could well be true. Take some of the most active members of this forum, for instance. I know that you aren't engaged in Armenian social life too much. Sip has recently said that Hye Forum is the only Armenian activity he regularly participates in. Hagarag doesn't even have an Armenian name, refuses to speak Armenian in public, and most people aren't even aware of his ethnicity. Lord knows I'm probably the least socially involved Armenian in Montreal (though I make it up in other ways). Are the member of Hye Forum really representative of the larger community?

I think I agree here with whOOt on the most part, although I would qualify this a little further: Most diasporan Armenians I have met on the web have little contact with their Armenian communities at home.

Perhaps that is because we are looking for 'like-minded' Armenians, and are unable/unwilling to find them in our community centers/churches etc. Or perhaps we've had the displeasure of meeting the AR's and Anoushes of our communities, and have no further desire to participate in our home communities. The end result is not really so bad: we create 'virtual' communities, where we can interact, share our knowledge and viewpoints, in an atmosphere that respects our 'Armenian-ness'.

The question is, Even if we are the minority, do we not represent at least a significant part of the Armenian community at large? I certainly hope so.

Hmmm. I think I could probably beat you for that dubious distinction.

My case is a bit strange since I don't have time (by my own choice) to participate in almost ANY sort of activity other than research and then ALT-TABBING once in a while to some of these forum-type places just to shoot-the-shit and take my mind off of 1's and 0's for a while during the day.

The reason I liked Hyeforum was that I eneded up learning (and continue to learn) quite a bit of stuff on topics which I had NO prior knowledge what so ever. I like the fact that there doesn't seem to be any political or commercial affiliations, plus of course the fact that it's strictly moderated and most "trash" is dumped in the recycle bin on a regular basis. Plus it's great making fun of Azat, Harut, Movses, and Jug sometimes

Easy there Domino ... before you jump to the hard question, first, let's talk about the easier ones:

What is "Life"?

What is "Social Life"?

What is "Armenian"?

THEN What is "Armenian Social Life"?

Good luck trying to answer ANY of those.

Sip, its not an easy question, you are like me part of the Armenian diaspora, can you say you are part of the Armenian social life, what it means being part of it ?

Armenian Social Life is when you go to a bar, you meet a nice lady, then you go out again with her and then you sleep with her (meaning having sex with her)and after some time you somehow figure out that acctually she is an Armenian.

That is what I call Armenian Social Life:-)

Take it easy so that no one can use you easy!

The majority of the first tiers of Armenians in America were Turka-Hyes. The few Russa-Hyes who could be found in America were mainly from the upper classes. Our parents and grandparents were a hard-working group who NEVER got into trouble with the law. Can you say the same about your kind of Armenian, Gamavor, Mr. Turka-Hye hater?
