Saudi builds northern border fence against infiltrators.

Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) (AFP) - Saudi Arabia has inaugurated a multilayered fence along its northern borders, as part of efforts to secure the kingdom's vast desert frontiers against infiltrators and smugglers, state media said. King Abdullah announced late Friday the launch of the first stage of a border security programme, covering 900 kilometres (560 miles) of the northern frontier, SPA state news agency reported. SPA did not name Iraq, Saudi Arabia's neighbour to the north, referring only to the northern frontier, but the two countries' common border stretches over 800 kilometres (500 miles).The project includes five layers of fencing which will cut the "number of infiltrators, drug, arms and cattle smugglers to zero," SPA said. It said surveillance would be reinforced by watch towers, night-vision cameras and 50 radars. Control complexes have been built in areas stretching from Hafr al-Batin in the northeast to Turaif near the Jordanian border, SPA said. Relations between Iraq and Saudi Arabia have been deeply strained. Riyadh has accused outgoing Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki of creating the conditions for the jihadist insurgency in his country by marginalising its Sunni Arab minority. Maliki in turn has accused the oil-rich kingdom of supporting "terrorism" in Shiite-majority Iraq. In July 2009, Riyadh signed a deal with European aerospace and defence contractors EADS to build a high-tech security fence on 9,000 kilometres (5,600 miles) of the country's borders.

The original aim was to secure the Saudi border with Iraq with fencing and high-tech monitoring.

But with increased worries over infiltration by anti-government militants and Al-Qaeda, the Saudi interior ministry expanded the scope of the programme to fence and electronically monitor all the country's borders.

AZERBAIJANI ARMY RATION TO INCLUDE ARMENIAN DISH

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 17, ARMENPRESS: The Ministry of Defense of
Azerbaijan included Armenian dish in the ration of the soldiers
participating in the large-scale military drills. Armenpress reports,
citing the Azerbaijani information website haqqin.az, during the
drills taking place in Azerbaijan with the participation of the
Turkish army, the staff for the first time was provided with conserved
Armenian dolma.

The Azerbaijani and Turkish soldiers tasted the Armenian dish made
in eggplants, tomatoes, peppers and cabbage.

The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan believes that this Armenian
dish raises the energy value of the food supplied to the soldiers.

TURKISH HISTORIAN'S TV SHOW FINED FOR INSULTING KARDASHIAN, AUDIENCE

A Turkish TV show has been fined 600,000 Turkish Liras by the
country's media watchdog after a popular historian used insulting
words against the audience and Hollywood celebrity Kim Kardashian,
according to daily Milliyet.

Murat Bardakcı broadcast the French song "Sur Ma Vie" by Charles
Aznavur while appearing live on a TV program on the private Haberturk
station. However, when he read the audience's reactions via social
media, he noticed outrage at his playing "an Armenian song."

"They say, 'How dare you broadcast an Armenian song?' Whoa, come on,
that [song] is French. Okay, you don't listen to it really, the song
is in French, and the guy is Armenian," Bardakcı said during the show.

"You are stupid and an idiot. Why do you look at Kim Kardashian's
butt? She is Armenian, too," he added.

The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTUK) said Bardakcı used
an insulting manner while reacting to audience's criticism over the
broadcasting of Aznavur's song, and fined Haberturk 600,000 liras
for Bardakcı's statements.

The watchdog said Bardakcı's words "did not respect human honor and
were insulting," and also included slang.

Two Iranians wishing to travel from Kenya to Israel using forged Israeli passports made in Yerevan would have been arrested even if they had attempted to do so.

The problem is that Armenian forgers used Latin characters for the English data about the passport owner, causing no suspicion among the border guards who would do the checking. But the part with data in Hebrew contained the Armenian alphabet, making it pretty obvious that the documents were fakes.

So it is hardly likely that the forgers of the fake Israeli passports in Yerevan were in contact with the Iranian intelligence services, as it is hard to believe that professional agents of any country would make forgeries of such low

Winner to Be Announced on Dink Assassination Anniversary

ANKARA, Turkey (A.W.)--Ankara's public Gazi University, in
collaboration with the Embassy of Azerbaijan, has announced the launch
of a poster competition that encourages participants to design artworks
on the theme, "Everyone Sleeping: Armenian Persecutions from Anatolia
to the Caucasus, International Poster Competition." The winner(s)
will be announced on January 19, the anniversary of the assassination
of Hrant Dink, the Turkish-Armenian journalist and editor of Agos who
was murdered by an ultra-nationalist Turkish youth in Istanbul in 2007.

Ankara poster competition to portray Armenians as genocidal, traitors

In introducing the competition, a lengthy, fictionalized account of
Turkish history is provided--an account in which Armenians committed
genocide against Turks and Azerbaijanis. Under the rule of Seljuk
Turks, and later the Ottoman Empire, Armenians lived in peace, which
brought about the "Golden Age" of the Armenians. Armenians were offered
religious and other freedoms, human rights, and a general attitude of
benevolence. This all changed when Armenians, instigated by Western
powers, began to rebel and ceased to be the once "loyal nation."

Painting a treacherous portrayal of Armenians, the organizers go on
to describe how Armenians tried to "dismantle" the country, supported
by Russian, British, and French forces. In order to "prevent damage,"
an effort to relocate them came about. "The aim was not to destroy the
Armenians; the purpose was to protect them and to ensure the security
of the state," the competition organizers claim, though conceding that
some deaths did occur--around 50,000 (the 1.5 million number is a gross
exaggeration they claim). Muslims, on the other hand, were killed in
greater numbers--around two million. As to the matter of genocide,
the true victims of WWI were the Turks, they say. It was the Turks
who suffered genocide--around one million Turks were killed at the
hands of Armenian gangs--in Van, Mush, Bitlis and elsewhere.

The organizers "remind" potential participants of the "Unimaginable
tortures and rapes," the suicides of women hoping to preserve their
chastity, the slaughters of young and old alike at the hands of the
Armenians, as well as the mass graves, and the massacres at the hands
of "Dashnag gangs." Armenians are portrayed as conduits of "savagery,
cruelty, torture, rape..."

Despite "these painful events of the Turkish nation," Mustafa Kemal
Ataturk (who also happened to establish Gazi University) founded
modern Turkey, which managed to survive despite "Armenian terrorism."

But apparently Armenian crimes do not end here. The organizers evoke
the Karabagh war, where they claim yet another genocide took place
in 1992, that of Azerbaijanis in Khojaly.

"The Turkish world suffered genocide... silence continues... Everyone
is asleep... and while everyone was asleep, the Turks were massacred
again.

Everyone is asleep despite the historical facts that are attacked
by the narrative of Armenians and their supporters and the so-called
genocide allegations," write the organizers. Furthermore, the Armenian
allegations amount to "slander," "injustice," and "defamation."

The organizers invite international artists and designers who care
for human rights and want the world to wake up to the genocide and
massacres committed by Armenians, to participate in this poster
competition.

The winner(s) will be announced on Jan. 19, 2015.

Exhibition of submitted works will take place at the Gazi University
Museum of Painting and Sculpture beginning on Feb. 26, 2015. The
grand prize is an exhibition of the winning work in Baku.

Organizers include: Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ankara Faig Bagirov;
Flame Cakmakoglu (Gazi University); Fulya Bayraktar (Gazi University);
Å~^ansal Evans (Gazi University); Bulent Salderay (Gazi University);

Baku Housing Officer accuses Armenians of having planted trees incorrectly in Soviet era

A few days ago the strong wind in Baku felled numerous trees and caused serious material damage to population. Because of the indifference and inaction Baku Mayor's Office, elimination of the consequences of the damaged trees has become another problem, reports Qafqazinfo.az citing Milli.az.

Baku residents complained "Milli.az" news site on the working process of the maintenance services. In response, the chief engineer of the housing and communal associations of Khatai Sahib Babaev said that "trees, which are now falling on our heads, have been planted by the Armenians."

"By planting these trees, they created a problem for us: the pines have grown, while the trunks and roots of the trees do not grow," he tried to explain.

Cavusoglu addressed members of US non-governmental organizations at
Turkish Association in New York. NEW YORK (AA) - Turkey's Foreign
Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has said that the United States should not
blindly accept certain countries' version of events when it comes to
the 1915 incidents between Turkey and Armenia

The 1915 incidents took place during World War I when a portion of
the Armenian population living in the Ottoman Empire sided with the
invading Russians and rose up against the ruling Ottoman authorities.

The uprisings were followed by a decision by the Ottoman Empire to
relocate Armenians living in eastern Anatolia.

Addressing members of US non-governmental organizations at the Turkish
Association in New York on Saturday, Cavusoglu said that the peoples
of Armenia and Turkey have "enough common sense not to be fooled by
politicians and academics who have political motivations."

"The 1915 incidents are being misused for political gain and votes,"
the foreign minister continued. He explained that the US must take
into account Turkey's views about the incidents as well.

Cavusoglu also mentioned that the US and Turkey have a strong
alliance in matters pertaining to foreign policy and that the Turkish
community's voice in the United States was becoming stronger by
the day.

The Armenian diaspora and the state of Armenia have both described
the incidents as "genocide" and have asked for compensation.

Turkey states that even though Armenians died during the relocation,
many Turks were also killed in attacks carried out by Armenian gangs.

"We should oppose and prevent this great sorrow in our history being
used for malicious purposes and for influencing our friends in the US
We should also show them what really took place with real, empirical
evidence," he said.

In April, Turkey's then Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan who
was elected president with popular vote on August 10 offered his
condolences for those Armenians who died during the incidents of 1915.

Azerbaijani MP: Because of its poor military history Azerbaijan assumes heroic episodes of Turkey

In Azerbaijani secondary school textbooks the heroic episodes of Turkish history and other countries are presented as heroism committed by the Azerbaijanis in Azerbaijan, mainly as heroic deeds committed during the Karabakh war, Azerbaijani news website "Modern.az" reports.

As it is stated in the article, the Azerbaijani military expert, head of the "Military journalists" NGO Uzeyir Jawarov in the interview to Azerbaijani newspaper "Hurriyet" stated that he considers the current situation unacceptable, and warned that it could lead to resentment in Turkey.

"It turns out that the millions allocated from the state budget to improve the patriotic spirit of the youth, do not serve the purpose. The textbooks should present the true military history of Azerbaijan," he said.

MP Fazil Mustafayev admitted in its turn that Azerbaijan doesn’t have that rich military history, it begins since 1918, and the Soviet era history should not be attributed to Azerbaijan. "The textbooks must depict what exists in reality. Attribution of foreign history to Azerbaijan will one day come out and will create a shameful situation," he said.

AZERBAIJAN STARTS STEALING TURKEY'S HISTORY

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijan is infamous for appropriating the other
countries' history and cultural heritage and the neighboring states,
specifically Armenia and Iran, became the first 'victims' of this
policy.

Thus, Persian poet Nizami is represented as Azerbaijani, just like
Iranian and Armenian music, national cuisine and traditions.

One of the extracts from an Azeri textbook telling that America
"was discovered thanks to achievements of the Azerbaijani science"
has already became a laughing stock.

Yet, restlessly, Azerbaijan is moving forward to 'privatize' the
history of Turkey, representing the Turkish heroes and its own.

According to Modern.az, expert at Military Journalists NGO Uzeir
Jafarov has already warned against such a policy, saying that it
could cause Ankara's discontent.

"It turns out that the millions allocated for the patriotic upbringing
don't serve the purpose, as the textbooks should represent the true
history of Azerbaijan," he says, according to Panorama.am.

There are still some adequate people in Azerbaijan, who understand that
distorting history is not the right thing to do. MP Fazil Mustafayev
confessed, for example' that Azerbaijan can't boast a rich military
history, which started in 1918 only. "The textbooks should tell the
truth. Appropriation of others' history can one day come to light
and bring shame on us," he said.

However, it would be naïve to believe that Azerbaijan will listen to
reason and the historians will stop filling the vacuum of invented
'ancient Azerbaijan' with the cultural heritage of other nations.

Strasbourg orchestra played national anthem of Azerbaijan as funeral march

On November 17 a video was posted in the YouTube under the title "Strasbourg orchestra played the Azerbaijani anthem just like a funeral."

Turkish actress attacked for interpreting for Pope

A leading Turkish actress said she has been subjected to a welter of insults on social media since she acting as a translator for Pope Francis during his visit to Turkey in November, AFP reported.
Serra Yilmaz said she was "accused of being a Christian" by Islamist trolls, who were angry at the renowned actress agreeing to interpret for Francis.
"I was accused of being a Christian just because I acted as the translator of Pope Francis," Yilmaz told university students in the western port city of Izmir, Milliyet newspaper reported Thursday.
"It is ridiculous to judge people by their beliefs.
"But many people made groundless claims like 'the Vatican hired you,' or insulted me on social media," she said.
The 60-year-old stage and screen star, who is fluent in Italian, said she had been hired by Turkish foreign ministry to work as a translator during the pope's three-day visit to Ankara and Istanbul in late November.

The well-known volleyball team “Stod,” that had arrived in Baku for a match with the Azerbaijani team “Azerrail,” was held in hostage in the Baku hotel “Anatolia,” Azerbaijani information portal “Haqqin.az” reports, referring to radio “Liberty.”
According to the article, all Norwegian media outlets have covered the incident. When the Norwegian girls attempted to leave the hotel, the hotel management told the team managers that they were to pay an extra sum for their stay. When the Norwegian delegation refused to pay the money, the hotel management blocked the hotel rooms and refused to let the guests out, actually holding them in hostage. The worst part of the situation was that the incident took place only a few hours before their departure.
“When we tried to find out the reason of the incident, we were told that we hadn’t paid for the accommodation. I showed them the payment receipts, but they demanded an additional sum,” Swain Mir, the team manager, said.
According to the team manager, the hotel management blocked the door and called the Police, the portal reports. “When we learnt that they had called the Police, we called our Embassy. They recommended us not to deal with the local Police and pay the demanded sum,” Mir said.
The Norwegians explain the incident as the Azerbaijanis’ revenge for the victory of “Stod” over “Azerrail,” the article reads.
“I was told that similar incidents had happened before, too. The Azerbaijanis don’t love losing,” Swain Mir notes, stressing the fact the hotel “Anatolia” belongs to the chairman of the Volleyball federation of Azerbaijan. The portal points out the fact that the head of the Volleyball federation of Azerbaijan is Ziya Mammadov, the transport minister. And if Swain Mir, the Norway team manager, is right, the hotel “Anatolia” also belongs to the Azerbaijani minister.

Azerbaijan has launched campaign against Polish candies ‘‘Raffaello’’ as they had markings in Armenian language on pakages

Another wave of protest has risen in Azerbaijan due to the fact that on the packages of Polish candies “Raffaello” there were markings written in Armenian, Georgian and Azerbaijani, reads the website of Karabakh war veterans of Azerbaijan “Gaziler.az”.

The author of the article titled "One should expect anything from Polish producers who hate us and our language" comes to the conclusion that the inscription in Armenian and Georgian stand above the Azerbaijani one, because "they are Christians."

"This means that the leaders of Polish company, the manufacturers of Ferrero, that worship Christians and hate Turks, in this way have showed their hostility to Azerbaijan," the site writes, wondering: why they should spend money on enrichment of "pro-Christian Poles for whom the Armenians have more priority?"

"Why Azerbaijan should sell products with inscriptions in Armenian? This is outrageous. The import of these anti-Turkish, anti-Islamic chocolates to Azerbaijan has also other purposes. If the Polish producers of “Raffaello” show such hatred towards Azerbaijan, it may sound quite possible that one day they inject radioactive or any toxic substances in these candies, and send them to Azerbaijan to poison us. Anything can be expected from Polish producers who hate us and our language," the author writes.

The author also accused the businessmen importing these candies to Azerbaijan. "The whole world knows about the ignorance of some Azerbaijani businessmen who, do not have a national identity, and for their stomachs sake are even ready to crawl to Armenians and our other enemies," concludes the site.

Investigation launched as Turkish Foreign Ministry mistakenly publishes Tsitsernakaberd picture on official calendar

The Turkish Foreign Ministry has “mistakenly” published a picture of the Armenian Genocide Monument - Tsitsernakaberd on an official day planner, prepared to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Canakkale in World War I, Hurriyet Daily News reported.
A picture of the monument in Yerevan is included on the April page of the planner.
A Foreign Ministry official told the Hurriyet Daily News that the picture had been “accidentally included with other photographs.”
An investigation has been launched into the mistake and the individual responsible will be punished, the official said, adding that most of the day planners have yet to be distributed.
The official strongly refuted claims that the picture is part of a new “Armenian opening” on the part of Ankara, stressing that elements of any opening on dialogue with Armenians are delivered either by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan or Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu.

Turkish citizen to sue Armenia

Turkish citizen, resident of Erzurum Coskun Isik is going to file a lawsuit against Armenia. He will be the first Turk to personally sue Armenia, Ermenihaber.am reports, citing ensonhaber.com.
According to the source, Isik decided to sue Armenia as a response to the lawsuit filed by the Armenian community against Turkey seeking the return of the Presidential Palace in Ankara, until recently occupied by Erdogan and previous Turkish presidents, and Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport.
The Turkish website says that Coskun Isik will demand that Armenia return Almavir village, which was formerly populated by Muslims.
Isik said that he is taking that move since the Turkish government does not oppose the claims of the Armenians.
“As a citizen of Turkey, as a resident of Erzurum, I will file a lawsuit against Armenians, based on the documents at my disposal,” he said.

Azerbaijans Academy of Sciences Plans to Rewrite Azeri History

BAKUAzerbaijans Academy of Sciences is planning to rewrite the history of Azerbaijan, laying new territorial claims on Armenia and Georgia.

Director of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences and Member of Parliament Yagub Mahmudov told APA news agency that Azeri history has been falsified by Soviet historians and need to be rewritten to reflect Azerbaijans real history.

Mahmudov says that Nakhijevan, Artsakh, and Yerevan are parts of ancient Azerbaijan. Mahmudov says that these claims are unknown because Azerbaijans history has been forged since the Gulistan and Turkmenchay agreements.

In his interview Yagub Mahmudov has also touched upon the history of Dagestan. No one can deny that Derbent is an Azerbaijani city as Dagestan has been founded on Azerbaijani lands. How can you forget it? It is possible that some will get offended, however we will rewrite the history of Azerbaijan during the Soviet period, the historian said.

Mahmudov also expressed his opinion about the native peoples that exist in Azerbaijani controlled territories such as the Lezgins and Talysh. The Azeri academic said he had no praises for Lezgins because, according to him, during the Second World War many of them took the side of the Nazis.

The historian did not neglect to also speak about the Georgian monastery complex of David Gareji (called Keshik Dag by Azeris). He claims that the monastery is an ancient Albanian chapel and that claims of ownership by Georgians is misguided.

Georgia claims that the territory up to Shamakhi is Georgian. If Georgians continue to impose such requirements, Azerbaijan, in its turn, will claim that Tbilisi has been a Muslim emirate, Mahmudov said. It is necessary to ask Georgians: where have the residencies of the Emir of Tbilisi gone? Or, how can we see today the Mosque built by Shah Abbas on the river Kur? All these buildings have been razed to the ground, and we currently are studying this issue.

The Georgian monastic complex of David Gareji is situated some 60 kilometers from Tbilisi, on the half-desert slopes of Mount Gareja at the Georgian-Azerbaijani border. A part of the complex lies on the Azeri side of the border, and the site has become subject to a border dispute between the two countries.

Angry Indian bride marries wedding guest

An Indian bride has married a guest at her wedding after her groom-to-be had a seizure and collapsed, the BBC reported.
Reports said the groom, Jugal Kishore, was epileptic and he had kept the information from the bride, Indira, and her family.
While Mr Kishore was taken to the hospital, the angry bride decided to switch husbands.
She asked a member of her brother-in-law's family, who was a guest, to step in and marry her instead. He agreed.
The incident took place in Rampur town in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
According to a report in The Times of India, Mr Kishore, 25, fell to the ground in front of the wedding guests just as he was reaching out to garland Indira.
On his return from the hospital, Mr Kishore pleaded with Indira to change her mind, telling her that he would be ridiculed by friends and relatives if he went home without a bride, but she refused.
Local police official Ram Khiladi Solanki told the BBC that Mr Kishore and his family were initially upset and lodged a complaint with the police.
"But since the bride is already married now, what can anyone do? So the families have resolved the matter and the complaint has been withdrawn," he added.
