I recently got my left nostril pierced and have been looking up - or been trying to look up - what they call that Indian ornament that consists of the ear stud and the nose stud joined by a chain. What is it called? I can't find anything about it online. Puh-leez!

Don't know what it's called, but I've called it a torture device. ;) A girl that used to hang out with us back in high school got one; hers was a kind of a thick silver chain - and she loved until it got caught in the branch of a bush near the bus stop. She was running at the time and the force tore open her nostril. Lots of blood, she needed surgery to fix it. :o

Recommedation, if you DO get one, get a cheap, thin, soft chain - so just in case it gets caight on anything, it'll break (and not rip your face).

Apart from putting holes in your nose, anything else new? :)

Oh yes, the safety is a concern, and I would wear it only now and then, when driven around and not when running for the bus or jogging. :) I, too, rather it be dainty and nothing hardcore.

I had been thinking of getting myself a tattoo, but this came before it. I still am considering it.

Oh boy, I have to see Stormig with that. You ought to send me a picture with that thing on you. :)

Hey, you'll thank me next you have to blow your nose. Just keep a finger on the extra hole :P

I usually make fun of my cousin who has a hole pierced below his lower lip ... I tell him to be careful while sneezing because if he tries to keep his mouth shut, he might shoot out the metal thing in there and blind someone.

Stormi!!! Why did you get your nose pierced?!!! I know at least 3 people who have done it, after a while you get quite tired of it and remove it, but the hole never really goes away. So it kind of looks like a constant giant blackhead. I am horrible, I know, I am sorry.... It looks really nice in some cases but overall it's a little difficult to maintain that look for a while.

But on the other hand... Congratulations! I know, this was really not much help, just pushing my views as usual.

I also like the ones done on the upper lip frenulum - but I'd have to check with my dentist first.

I had been thinking of the nose piercing for some time, and then I got my last inspiration from the following attached picture of my favourite beauty queen.

I also think that she is stunning.

That's a really well done ad. Great messaging. :)

I'll have to check it out elsewhere, not at the office. :P

Funny, Eve, I don't ever recall noticing anyone had a giant black spot where the hole is. :P And I'm pretty observant. Nothing a little foundation can't cover on those "special" occasions, I'm sure. ;) If it's so bad I can let it close up in the following months.

Well, from personal experience, I would never try to permanently alter any part of my body ever again, unless absolutely necessary.

As for blackheads, I don't know about the nose, but this is absolutely true for earlobes. I have not worn earrings in over ten years, and though the holes are as good as closed, you can still see the marks very clearly. I doubt they'll ever go away.

I'd say I used to be/have been quite militant about that view. But then again, only fools don't change their minds :D and I've been so bored over the last two years at this job that I don't know what to do with myself. :P

If it's sado-masochism you're into, then there are many other ways to generate pain without necessarily leaving permanent scars. B)

No, not S&M. :) Just do things for a change, etc. Funny, I got past my teens and university years without causing any racket about any of this stuff, so I am experimenting only now. :) In a way it's good, because now I feel I have a bit of perspective or whatever you'd call it. I chose to get my left nostril pierced because I hoped that the acupuncture know-how Indians claim - that that spot would ease menstrual pains and childbirth :P - would work. (Can't say it has helped - though it's not so bad with me anyhow.) For most people it's the right side because they part their hair from the right, so they look for "balance"...

And the permanent scar part is not really so bad. My recent flare of acne, which I am also getting treated, is worse. So... Rant.
