vava
Funny - i went to admission yesterday and they had nothing... maybe I didn't spell aznavour correctly in the search... I guess the show at the Colisée is in Quebec City. If it's the place I'm thinking of, it's where the Quebec Nordiques (now the Colorado Avalanche) used to play way back when there was hockey. La Salle Wilfred Pelletier is quite big, but the acoustics are much better than what you'd get at a hockey arena. Plus you'll be in Montreal! Siamanto
Heck he signs a whole song to a deaf lady that he fell in love with that will bring tears to any one eyes.(Mon emouvant amour) style_images/master/snapback.png Just like a blind can appreciate sculpture and touches to see, a deaf can appreciate a serenade and watches to hear! Some of my favorites; based on the Lyrics, the Music, the story they tell and, of course, who I am and my sensitivities! Click on title for lyrics. I don't like when he sings in English! English is strictly forbidden! (...) La Boheme Hier encore La Mamma Emmenez-moi Comme ils disent (...) Qui? Mourir d'aimer L'amour c'est comme un jour Parce que Donne tes seize ans (Music arrangements a bit cheesy!) (...) Bon anniversaire Dors Tu exageres Il te suffisait que je t'aime Tu t'laisses aller Edited December 24, 2004 by Siamanto

Other than those 2 I have to agree with you even though I do not understand French, However I know all the songs by heart and I know all the English meanings of them. Other than those 2 I have to agree with you even though I do not understand French, However I know all the songs by heart and I know all the English meanings of them. style_images/master/snapback.png Azat, I owe an explanation! I prefer his performances in French for two main reasons: 1- The poetry and emotional intensity of the French lyrics are far more "superior!!!" For instance, how can "Qui?" be translated? That would be blasphemy! It should be illegal!!! 2- Aznavour's performance, it's sensibly inferior when he sings in English - including "She!" (I've never hear "Yesterday..." in English.) Compare - in in the following songs - the 2.1- Flow of words and rhyme 2.2- How articulate is the diction- a bit different form the "flow?" 2.3- Rhythmicity of the diction/singing 2.4- Dynamics of the voice 2.5- Timbre of his voice 2.6- Playfulness of the voice/singing 2.7- Assurance of the voice/singing 2.8-... (Click on the title. Of course, it's preferable to compare the original recordings, unless your computer is somehow connected to your Stereo System.) She La boheme When he sings in English, he sounds as "amateurish" as those rappers who can't rap!

Azat
You had to go ahead and throw the comment about the rappers in there didn't you. Please don't think that I prefer the English performance over the French. No true... However She is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. And we cant compare it to La Boheme his most amazing song. Probably one of the top 10 French songs ever. I cut yesterday for you, you can get it from my site. He even won and grammy for it.(the English version) Yesterday when I was young Merry Christmas kids. See you all in Montreal on the 10th of June. I'll be the guy crying when the curtain comes down. Aznavour first sang the song in public on a cold night in Moscow in 1965 or 6. It was also sung by Roy Clark a country western star and made popular in the US and because of this Aznavour won a Grammy for the song. It is an incredible song. MosJan
YESTERDAY WHEN I WAS YOUNG (Hier Encore) Music and original French lyrics written by Charles Aznavour. English lyrics by Herbert Kretzme Charles Aznavour (France) Dusty Springfield Roy Clark - 1969 Yesterday when I was young, The taste of life was sweet as rain upon my tongue, I teased at life as if it were a foolish game, The way the evening breeze may tease a candle flame; The thousand dreams I dreamed, The splendid things I planned I always built, alas, on weak and shifting sand; I lived by night and shunned the naked light of day And only now I see how the years ran away. Yesterday When I was young, So many drinking songs were waiting to be sung, So many wayward pleasures lay in store for me And so much pain my dazzled eyes refused to see, I ran so fast that time and youth at last ran out, I never stopped to think what life was all about And every conversation I can now recall concerned itself with me, and nothing else at all. Yesterday the moon was blue, and every crazy day brought something new to do, I used my magic age as if it were a wand, and never saw the waste and emptiness beyond; The game of love I played with arrogance and pride and every flame I lit too quickly, quickly died; The friends I made all seemed somehow to drift away And only I am left on stage to end the play. There are so many songs in me that won't be sung, I feel the bitter taste of tears upon my tongue, The time has come for me to pay for Yesterday When I was Young. ED
Azat, besides purching concert tickets, i would wait, due to high Canadian dollar, untill early spring then look for flight and hotel, CAN$ hasent been this high historicly and I dought it will go any higher, one hotel I would recomend highly is Saint Sulpice in old Montreal, right behind of Notre Dame, another my fayvorit is Ritz on Sherbrook, Delta and St-Paul, but dont forget those are very busy and popular times in Montreal.
