yes Yervant1, you're right...it's just that these few days have been very busy and i was going to mention that but with everything goin on i just forgot about it, my apologies.... indeed George Tutunjian is a legendary national and patriotic singer, whom many tried to imitate, without success....he was a pioneer in patriotic armenian music and has helped in the propaganda of such songs everywhere in the Diaspora and Armenia here is an excerpt from www.armenianmusiccenter.com about the issue George Tutunjian has Passed Away. 09.11.2006 George Tutunjian, the legendary singer of patriotic and revolutionary songs has died on November 7th, 2006 in Montreal, Canada at the age of 74. indeed, i forgot to mention in that post that after a while H1 mentionned his death and talked about it, my concern with the authorities in armenia is the discrepancy they put between Varduhi and Aram, discrepancy that wasn't justified...sry for the misunderstanding as for horizon and the first part mosjan, i'm sorry i didn't understand if u could re-explain i'd appreciate it
-
no unfortunately they didn't announce it even once...its sad, at least it couldve been mentioned in the news as an objective news, not part of their programming if they don't want to include it in their programming...after all news is news

1) i can't believe someone can be so dumb as not to understand when someone tells them to learn to say people's names or nicknames properly, it's just a matter of respect and knowing how to read, i was very polite with you all along, even though I have a few ideas to make fun of your name 2) i am not imposing my opinion on anyone, i am simply answering the questions that i was asked 3) i believe that even if someone doesn't like aram it's not a reason for hiding the news of his death and not mentionning it in the daily news (if castro died? would the US media not talk about it? or if Kocharian dies, God forbid, his opposing parties should not mention it in their media releases? i know the importance of the people involved may not be similar, but you get the idea of neutral news presentation) its just a matter of being neutral, I'm not saying everyone should talk about it and make programs, but it's still news, and it's not democratic to censor it, especially when probably 80% of your viewers like the guy 4) i repeat, i don't impose my opinions on anyone, everyone is free to think as they wish 5) this topic isn't to ruin someone's memory with pointless remarks such as yours that try to make fun of ppl 6) you will be ignored from now on, please stop responding to my replies

the government officially expressed condolences, and they opened the hall after A Khachaturyan for people to pay their alst tributes, which isn't something bad, she totally deserved it, but so did Aram I meant to say Aram kept Armenians in the Diaspora Armenian with his music which always brought kindness and happiness...I know many will start arguing here saying is his music armenian or turkish or i dono what, but let me tell you his music is as armenian as Harout's or Tata's...he invested alot in churches around the world, and was one of the most listened to singers in the diaspora...it's not right that the opinion of a few people outstand that of thousands of others'

i hope some of you got to watch Insurance for You on ARTN with Armen Parseghian i really congratulate the guy for dedicating his whole program to Aram Asatryan's memory, something that many other programs and even channels (thinking about Horizon TV) omitted to do i really found appropriate the remarks of many people who called in to express their anger at those people who never even mentionned that Aram died, and who pointed out how the government of Armenia didn't do 1/10 of what it did for Varduhi Vardanian's death on this occasion; with respect to Varduhi, I don't mean to degrade her memory either, I like her very much and still mourn her death, however I find that Aram deserved at least some recognition too on behalf of the government for his multiple investments in Armenia and all the cultural work he has done keeping many Armenian in the Diaspora

visit www.stver.com where you can download HayEli Project's newest song about Aram's passing away i find that it's a brilliant song and puts everything in context, since many of the deceased haters' do not understand the importance of the situation www.stver.com click on the first link

there's also the greek version of that with similar words, i think its one of those songs that every country in that area have a version of, and as for the adana song previously mentioned, no doubt its copied from armenian, even the turkish singer admits it in her album cover
-
it is important to nuance that and mention that Aida's first cd was the only album to my knowledge that contained turkish music, the later ones didn't and most of the songs were composed by Armenian composers with their names mentioned, as in Aida cannot be classified on the same page as mino, romik and the rest... as for harout's songs, i just know of two songs "hye kacher" and "hye aghchik im annman" that were translated, i think i might find a tape version of one of them (the original turkish), ill try...
-
hey there, interestingly many ppl might not know that harout pamboukjian has songs translated from turkish ( ) (surprise surprise...sry couldnt keep myself from disappointing u!) but he does, and i have heard hye kacher too but i cant remember where and who sings it, u might also want to look for Hye Aghchik Im Annman which is also a turkish song...

first of all, learn to read and say people's nicknames properly secondly, i'm glad u realised taht this topic is degenerating into a musical taste topic which is not its purpose thirdly, we didn't ask your opinion nor anyone's opinion on his music, so no one is asking you to repeat it either, since we didn't want it from the beginning, not because it is a negative one, but simply because the topic isn't about that fourthly, anyone with the slightest musical education wouldn't stamp turkish on rabiz, and we have had that discussion before and we could in the future if needed, but i am not going to elaborate so that this topic doesnt lose its purpose once again fifthly, stop bashing the dead, it's not a good thing, especially someone who has helped armenia in many ways (i don't want lame answers to this saying his music was this his music was that...) finally, stick to the topic, if you don't have anything to say about his death, don't speak in this topic, open another one where you can say whatever you want, since you cannot change people's opinion easily, there's no point continuing to bash someone anyways especially after his death, because you can't change anything and people know stuff that you don't and have their reasons that explain the opinions they have
-
it's just a matter of principle and fundamental manners which some people lack that you don't bash a dead man by respect, imagine someone dear to you has passed away, God forbid, would u like it that i come to u right after and start bashing him on a thread u open to receive condolences for that person? in fact, i would be more human than that, i wouldn't even think of bashing that person eventhough i don't dislike him since the situation is very touchy i'm just disgusted by this whole attitude and situation
-
if someone doesn't have anything to say or offer on the occasion of his death let them not speak IN THIS TOPIC...THE END
-
i am not saying don't criticize him, everyone is free to do so, but i find it disrespectful that we use every topic about this man to bash him, and especially i find it disrespectful that ppl use this topic which is a fresh and sensitive one to bash him, if they want to do so, (even though i don't find it right), they can open a seperate topic, because this one says Aram Asatryan Passed Away Today, and not Aram Asatryan sings this or that!
-
listen i didn't imply who he was respected by particularly, but most armenians respected him, just check out a concert video of his and u will see his fans...but ur post just came to prove what i said, that ppl here are bashing him in the back after his death, and that is NOT RIGHT!!! so please stop that and open another post where u and everyone else can do whatever they want, but please, if you're not interested in offering condolences or getting information about his death and life, then don't post in this topic, it's just disrespectful to use such a topic to put out negative publicity...i'm sure no one would like it when during an elogy someone is interrupted by some people who have bad things to say about that person...it's just a question of respect
-
I don't want to be mean, but I believe that it is very irrespectful to bash a respected singer who just passed away leaving many of his fans in awe and disbelief just a day after his death and in a topic that is supposed to present his death information. If anyone has anything to say about Aram and his music I respect their opinion but i believe it should be done in a seperate topic, not in this one. People who come here to see this topic expect to see information about his death and pay their condolences, not read other's opinions about whether his music was turkish, russian, arabic, azeri or I don't know what else. What makes a good singer? Before anything, his personality and his devotion. I have nothing else to say.
-
sorry but i find that comment was inappropriate to the topic and irrespectful to his soul
-
why is listening to an arabic sounding song bad, whereas listening to a russian song and liking it is good?
-
turkish press always raises such stupid questions in their articles i heard vartan oskanian speaking on tv saying that we weould NEVER return those lands, they're ours anyways its just a means of controlling the citizens and give them the impression that the government is up to something and active, and it often doesn't reflect the reality...honestly, the armenian government wouldn't even think about returning those lands, because they know the massive opposition they would face if they even start talks about taking such a decision; some political parties would never let that happen...

lol i can't figure out how we came to talk about these food names in turkish when we were talking about the anthem and soviet influence? i made sure i didn't miss anything but then again... besides, i never used those turkish words to describe these food items, so i don't see the context of those replies...??? no comment -
New Tune For New Times: Officials Sound Out On An Upgraded Anthem
hayemyes replied to Arpa's topic in Republic of Armenia
i agree that there was some sort of nationalistic feeling among these writers, but it was still not enough to build a proper armenian identity, and the soviet regime precisely tried to dissuade each of its soviet from developing such nationalistic feelings and building identities, they even banned some religious activites, and Christianity wasn't very welcomed...we cannot simply say that oh charents or sevak or i dono who else were able to write about armenians therefore it wasnt that bad, i mean charents fell victim of stalin's purges, and it's just that others were more moderate in their expression or totally pro-communist (kaputikian) and were able to get away with it as for AK, i recognize very well that his work has alot of armenian influence, especially since ive played many of his works myself, however, i am just saying that the soviet influence has been so entangled in armenian culture and history that foreigners often do not distinguish between what is armenian, sovietic or russian...that's where the problem is, because we have not adn are not developing a proper identity of our own whether it be cultural, social, etc. to enable foreigners to distinguish us from the rest... returning to the subject, even though i recognize and admire AK's majestic work, i simply cannot accept to impose a soviet anthem on independent armenia, especially when the point of changing the anthem (which i still don't find valid) was to be original and reflect today's armenia and everything
