this is pointless...budhism, hinduism have nothing to do with us, we are armenians, and by consequent, christians (for the most part). i think we must also remember that this cross is to honour the people who fought and died to protect mussa ler, and were killed because they were christian, so it matters not what you think about the religion, or it's place in armenian culture. i think that building this cross will strengthen christian sentiment in the country (for those who were unaware, 70 years of repression of our faith has made some people, mostly the younger generations of soviet occupation distant from it,) and even though you may not seem to realise that armenia as beeing the first christian state in the world is not a guarentee that we will all automatically grow up as christians (i mean, albania was the 3rd country to be christian..and look at them..they are muslim turks today).. i think religous symbols still have a place in modern armenia..and even more so. i also think that you cannot start saying that we should build a clinic in it's place. certainly you all realise that erecting an aluminum structure is but a tiny fraction of teh cost of building a medical fascility. i mean imagine all the western cities in which most of you live in, had the municipalities not spent money on artistic architecture, or monuments and so on (usually with motives even more obscure than religion), imagine how dull, and practicality oriented our cities would be without the artistic oeuvres of our kindsmen, and a constant reminder of our national being.

Presidential Elections 2008 In Armenia March 1

lol, i know what it means as well. and as for the article, i can do nothing but laugh. i mean, what armenian would feel threatened by this? the azeris are just once again pretending to have a history...who is going to listen to them?

this is quite obviously upsetting, but as fore-mentionned, not a surprise. Armenia must understand that it's only chance at survival comes from the diaspora's money, and they cannot simply play around with the diasporan temper. likewise, the diaspora must come aware of it's enormous lever in the armenian game. one thing for sure is that people like this should not abandon, but continue to hold on. this sort of mentality cannot last forever.

once again, another fascinating documentary made by your's truly and his borat-like azeri reporter alterego, Murat Sultanov http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWMegHrOk8Y enjoy and share with your friends

personally, i think that if a war starts again, the artsakh civilians, per say, would not necessarily be directly affected because the fighting will go on in the uninhabitated buffer zone. armenian forces are too well equipped, and well dug in, thus it would be a static war, till azeri forces are depleated.. (and hopefully we will take that opportunity to take back shahumian..utik and naxichevan_

hmm,..i heard russian bases in georgia will be operational till 2009. also, i think that a second war would be the only way to definately solve the problem. once the azeris get beaten again, they will begin to understand that they have no reason to keep fighting for the territory.

keep in mind that they are migrant workers. this means that they do not stay..so it empties armenia, but not permanently, and i think large scale, it is good, for armenia, because it could not support jobs for an extra million people right now. these people usually tend to come back (i have met many who have)... and also, just remember that though we hear alot about armenians being killed in russia, that they are not all skinhead related, but most of them are armenians in shaky business operations, such as mafia and what not.. yes, but when we add in the buffer zone, the size difference is not as great.

The Shushi Massacres Of 1920 Still Fresh In Armenian Memory
hosank replied to HyeFedayis's topic in Artsakh
i don't think that was the intention of the british however. because the british forces also tried to stop the advancing azeri army, and helped the armenian sin the battle of baku -

having actually witnessed parts of the renovation of these mosques, and having seen them in there previous state some 4 years ago, (and desecrated them hahahah) i can say that though you are both right, i think the reason is far more simple than that (we at least from what i hear). some soldiers and locals told me that iran has personally donated money for the renovation of those 2 mosques, why? considering that there are absolutely no muslims in the city, or the surounding area, is quite unknown to me, but all in all, though the artsaxcis properly showed me their disgust (i assisted to a peculiar scene, when about a dozen children began to throw a hail of rocks at the larger mosque, imitating my brother lol) they cannot complain because either way, the money is injected into artsaxs economy. here is a pic of the renovations i took last summer, if you guys are interested. http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/7371/dsc0238zs8.jpg

especially since the only reason why they accepted the last cease fire of 1994, was because there was no standing azeri army between the artsax forces, and baku
-
lol, i totalyl agree

lol, the azeris actually beat turkey in that

the one about azerbaijan is pretty terrible, but the article about the georgians does not show that they are in an active campaign against us, but rather that they are just idiots, and have badly dug out the remains. also, if you guys remember, a story about relocation in order to build new luxury flats happened in armenia too, some 2 years ago, so it's not just the georgians trying to get rid of the armenians, but the armenians as well..my point in saying that the georgians are not purposely doing this to enrage the armenians, but simply because they are not careful.

Turkey Goods Flood Armenia Despite Tensions, Closed Border
hosank replied to HyeFedayis's topic in Republic of Armenia
yes, a many times before posted article -
i thought there was a bolsahye on the forum.. second, in my opinion, it would be an interesting idea if armenians in bolis with businesses gradually open up in yerevan, and progrssively move there. it seems to me that the first spurkahyes with motive to move to armenia would be the polsahyes
