Armen Posted September 22, 2004 Report Share Posted September 22, 2004 There is a story that when Frunzik would go to Tbilisi or Kikabidze come to Yerevan they coulden't depart for many days and just stayed there drinking and talking. One day Frunzik come for a visit to Tbilisi and when after a week or so he decides to leave Kikabidze, as always, does not want him to leave and finds numerous resons to make Frunzik stay. These does not help and they finally go to the railway station. They drink there for an hour or so, make ther last good wishes, decide when they are going to meet next time. Kikabidze says he will come to Yerevan in month etc etc. Frunzik gets to his coach, which incidentally happens to be the last one and all empty. He approaches the window and starts waiving his hand "bye" to Kikabidze who waives him back with a big smile. When the train starts moving, Frunzik's coach stays there because it was separated from the train... But it is disapointing how ignorant many in the youth have become. I had no problem disiphering who was who in those pictures (well a little trouble on the last row, the greek looked armenian to me ). In the streets of Moscow all those people would simply be labelled: "Litsa kavkazkih natsionalnostey" "Persons of "caucasian" nationalities" That's not a new phenomenon either, i rember this term being used in 89. After he passed away the family of this truly a wonderful actor had no money left to put the burial stone. It was Kikabidse(his co star from the Mimino) who sponsored that later when he cam to Armenia and wanted to go to his cemetery to see his friend. Song from Mimino style_images/master/snapback.png I am Armenian, who was born and raised in Tbilisi, with a lot of family still situated in Armenia. Now, most of my family relocated to USA. Mimino is still my favorite movie to watch. I know it by heart. The quotes from that movie became forever engraved in my mind. I had a chance to meet Froonzik Mkrtichyan, because my family was also involved in the arts. When I read what you said about his headstone, that really broke my heart. I can't imagine, a person that was so loved and respected had to be in that position.
