Me messing around with the camera a few minutes ago outside my house. After looking at the pics on the PC, I realized I did not set the settings the way I should have but still the outcome was not too bad. Too bad it's a bit too cold for me to go out and play some more ... (9F right now)

... Mine come out half baked...

Half Naked? I wanna seee

If your cam has a manual mode (not automatic), go in options, set the exposure levels to max (+2 for me). Play around with ISO speeds. Mine has a night mode ... gotta use a tripod for these ...

Mine also has this delayed flash mode where it opens the shutter, then after a bit fires the flash. This way it can get the dark background and then pick up the foreground.

The other feature I use is the focus lock. I point the camera at the object I want to take a picture of. Then lock the focus (special button sequence), then I move the camera so that I get the scene I want. This way, you get the scene you want but the focus is on the object you are interested in.

As you can see in the pic above, I had the shutter open too much and the moon and the other lights got saturated.

I think that's called a slow-sync flash - and it can give very nice effects at night (The flash fires just before the shutter closes) you can also use this to get more realistic motion blur effects. Sip try using the spot metering function to expose for the main object (much like you use focus-lock) you can 'exposure' lock as well :)

Ok then, Here is one of them....

I know I have to play with the settings, I haven't done that yet. First I have to figure out how to hook up my front access usb ports. One thing at a time, but I tell you have a talent when it comes to photography, Mr. Swiss Cheese Head. :D

Well, dangit i dont have a digital camara, but i learned allot last semester in photo... For exposures like sips, it would be best if you have film of 400 speed.. and slow shutter, maybe like 10 or 15... but be warned, must have very sturdy tripod or pic will blur...set iso around 200, its not a major factor.. and also set your aperture at a lower number, (number depends on camara) and this way you can view everything in the backround in better focus.. theres lots more to it.. let me see if i can find a pic.. most mine were on slide film...

here is one, but looks like shrinking the file messed the quality

wow is that fog or a cloudy sky? See that is what I am talking about I simply cannot achieve this quality... Although its important to work with the cameras settings, the lighting plays a major role here. Depending on the external light a photo can have various completely different appearances with the same exact settings.

here my dog, in reality this is awsome photo, it captured the worry in his eyes, the strains of the muscles of his eyelids..and i aperture low and capturing close ups with blurred backrounds :)

Oh my God, I can't look at German Shepard's anymore. My coworkers 3 year old niece's bottom part of the face was completely bitten off by one. She is in morphine coma now, and her face is completely disfigured, she has no lips... And the craziest thing is that it was their own bitch.

I'm not a big fan of the Sony models. You're stuck using their proprietary memory, and the menu interface/usability isn't nearly as ergonomic as the Canons. I love the digital Rebel BTW, I've been using one from work and it works witha my EOS lenses.

I am thinking purchassing a new digital camera but don't want to spend much, I need the macro option of at minimum 4 cm(preferably 2 or 3 cm) because I plan to use it for the upcoming 'scope... but those cameras are expensive. The only I came accross that is reasonably priced is the Pentax Optio 450 that does 2 cm, which is excelent. Does anyone have better suggestions at the same prize level or has tried this camera?
