Armat
CNN, BBC, etc... They are all the same news that says what the government wants it to say... and Al Jazeera, that is just a bunch of crap from the middle east. There is no more good news, Good News is gone. For someone who is just 15 years old, you got freakin opinions coming out of your ears. From politics to Armenian Genocide which is really astonishing. Armo77
Armo one question! Why not remove Sharon the rotten tooth as you eloquently put it. Not the same caliber? Apples and oranges? I think not! Israel has nukes and willing to use it; Israel makes thousands of Palestinians miserable; 9/11 was indirectly caused by Israeli-Palestinian issue, which most US media intentionally downplays under the guise of “international terrorism” and what do we do?give Israel more billions from American taxpayers.I hate giving taxes just for that reason alone! Question for you.. WHY ON EARTH are you people so upset about Saddam being removed?!?!?!?!?!?! Come clean, your a Baathist right? Because if not.. you must be joking with me. Armo77
and another thing... Why must I be nailed to the cross on my views regarding Saddam? I don't like that guy.. Cant you people accept that?
Armat
Armo nobody is nailing you to any cross. I am just failing to understand the logic behind the whole war, which increasingly becomes illogical. There are dozens of corrupt repressive countries, dictators around the world; should we also go remove them because we don’t like them? Sasun
Think of Saddam as a rotten tooth... It had to be pulled and we all knew it was going to hurt like hell.. Or.. We could have let the tooth stay and rot out the whole mouth. Removing a one rotten tooth shouldn't involve removing many other tooths (while the rotten one is nowhere to be found), crashing the whole mouth, bleeding the nose and leaving the patient with uncertain future. And I know some of you will come at me.. "Oh the USA supported Saddam" Blah Blah Blah... I can name hundreds of friends I had in the past that I can not stand now.. People change as well as government administrations. There is no blah blah blah, it is the factual truth. And there is no matter of friendship, your comparison is not correct. Saddam has never changed. From the first day when he executed his opposition and came to power, he was known as a ruthless dictator, yet the US ignored that fact and supported him against Iran. It seems to me that some of your assumptions about America are equally off base. Given that you characterize America as a country "based on slavery and intolerance", your extreme bias is duly noted. America is no more based on slavery and intolerance than your great country of England.Don't even get me started on England... The entire British empire was built on slavery and colonization. I am not making assumptions. What I'm saying is factual. I am talking about the past, and what the entire country was based upon... Did I even say I approved of the British government's policies? So don't get me started on Blair, cos then this thread will go off-topic. Furthermore, your basic assumption is that everyone here has to agree with your assessment of the American government's policies.lol, I'm not looking for agreement. I'm looking for knowledgeable debate... The fact is, in America we are free to believe what we want and voice our opinions if we so chose.Mhmm, is that why thousands of war protesters were rounded up and taken to jail? A cop once told me "yep, you're free to have an opinion and express it, but we will arrest you if you do." I find it ironic that an Armenian who wants the world to recognize the Genocide can also be against this war in Iraq. That is totally irrelevant. If the Iraqis wanted a change, they would've revolted. Are you telling me that 20+ million Iraqis were scared of Saddam and his minions? Moreover, what the U.S. did were war crimes, no better than Saddam's crimes. Are you proposing that intolerance should be crushed by intolerance? This kind of person should not be allowed to remain in power, and the world powers should make it their responsibility to ensure that such genocidal maniacs do not commit further genocides.I agree. BUT, I also think that "Mr." Bush is a genocidal maniac too, and he should not remain in power either. Are you telling me he got VOTED in? And where was your United States of Righteousness when thousands of Tutsis were being massacred in Rwanda? If the U.S. or Great Britain or France had stepped in to prevent the Turks from exterminating us, so many of our ancestors would not have died. That's why I support this war in IraqAnd where was U.S.A when our ancestors were being massacred? Are you telling me you stand by the policies of a country that saw the suffering, heard the cries, witnessed the plight of millions of Armenians, and did not interfere? And don't even tell me that that happened a long time ago under a different administration. The same thing happened in Rwanda, and your good ol' U.S.A stood there and watched. Are you telling me you support that? Believe it or not, every person in Iraq has a gun. If the people wanted a revolution, they would've had it a long time ago. Don't tell me they sheepishly followed because they were scared. They don't seem all that scared now...

Stormig
Armo, I thought you were cool, but by and by I am beginning to feel you are sounding too much like the brat Piggy Wiggy. Instead of giving straight answers to straight questions, you start off on "Don't you love me anymore?"What is it with this "You are Baathist, right?"? Is the mainstream approach of "If you criticise America, you are anti-American" getting at you, too? Back to the original topic. Recently I have been thinking of what would happen if Turkey were allowed to get as delusional about Armenia as the U.S. has been with Iraq. Now that would suck big time, wouldn't it?I think, if I were to come up with something about that, I'd post it in the Meet the U.S. thread http://armenians.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=4865 or here or maybe give it a thread of its own, possibly in the humour section. I find it ironic that an Armenian who wants the world to recognize the Genocide can also be against this war in Iraq. Stormig
As for the rotten tooth analogy, what the U.S. has done has been to smash the whole mouth and make the throat swallow all the crushed teeth down! Moreover, the government hasn't "changed." It didn't "change" overnight when one day U.S. ambassador April Glaspie was leading Saddam on to enter Kuwait and the next day you had the Gulf War. It was a whole continuum of GAMES, as it has always been and you have seen going on all over the world. Surely liberals can be blamed for that but Amerikanski policy cannot. You can refer to the Meet the U.S. topic in the forum "International."

Dan
No no no with America-Hye you dont have to say anythinglmao.. He decides who is fit to stay in Americadon't they all? everyone who has been in USA long enough thinks he/she owns the country and can order newcomers to go in any direction they want. oh well.. such is human nature, i suppose.. i may be guilty of the same thing.. and immigration is an issue i have mixed feelings about, especially with the immigration laws here in Canada, that bring chinese folks by the thousands, and don't bring one Armenian or British or anyone else from Europe for stupid reasons, even though they might have Masters or PhD degrees, whereas the majority of Chinese immigrants come to the country and immediately collapse on the government and become a burden... O well, I will never understand Citizenship & Immigration Canada. and they deport Brazilians who had come here 10 years ago as immigrants, established a business and were productive... go figure. makes me angry. not to mention the thousands of illegal Chinese and Indians here in Toronto (and elsewhere in Canada). Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Chinese and Indian people. I just dislike imbalance and think that the government is being hypocritical in claiming it's an equal opportunity and equality country... well, equal opportunity my ass. I'm done with my rant. MJ
Iraqi Colonel: WMD Could've Been Launched in 45 MinutesSunday, December 07, 2003 Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and his army was capable of firing them off in less than 45 minutes, according to statements from an Iraqi colonel.Lt. Col. al-Dabbagh told the London Telegraph that cases of WMD warheads were shipped under cover of darkness to front-line units, including his own, near the end of 2002, in a report published in Sunday editions. In September of 2002 the British government published a controversial intelligence report on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, claiming WMD could be launched within 45 minutes. Al-Dabbagh said he believed he was the source of the claim, which was widely criticized as being a ploy by British Prime Minister Tony Blair to gain support for military action in Iraq."I am the one responsible for providing this information," al-Dabbagh, 40, told the Telegraph when shown the dossier. "It is 100 percent accurate." "Forget 45 minutes, we could have fired these within half-an-hour," he was quoted as saying.Al-Dabbagh told the paper that the weapons were Iraqi-manufactured and were designed to be launched from hand-held rocket-propelled grenades. Whether the weapons contained biological or chemical agents was not made clear by al-Dabbagh, the report said.Iraqi military commanders could use the weapons only on the personal orders of Saddam, al-Dabbagh told the paper, adding: "We were told that when the war came we would only have a short time to use everything we had to defend ourselves, including the secret weapon."So why weren't the weapons launched against the allied forces encroaching on Iraq? Al-Dabbagh said the majority of the Iraqi army did not want to fight for Saddam."The West should thank God that the Iraqi army decided not to fight," he told the paper. "If the army had fought for Saddam Hussein and used these weapons there would have been terrible consequences." http://www.foxnews.com/printer_friendly_st...,105086,00.html
