Plastic Surgery?

A nose job is pretty tame these days. If it's going to help your self confidence and reduce the stress off your neck, then I don't see a problem with it. What I do have a problem with is people cutting up every nook and cranny of their body to make themselves into something they are not. Plastic and cosmetic surgery can make wonders for people ... but just like anything, it can be used for the wrong purposes.

Yeah like Sip said, a nose is low key. To me the whole breast implant, liposuction is a bit much. That's drastically changing your body. I'm interested to see how that is all viewed in 20-30 years when ppl are older and that stuff is still in their system, should be interesting.

I don't know - I've never liked the idea of 'messing' with nature - not considering very-rare exceptions (a friend lost half of his face in an accident with power tools), or medical neccessity (replacing a woman's breast lost to cancer) I question the entire purpose/existance of plastic surgery.

Skittles, it’s interesting how you phrased it: “i think a lot of armenian girls need a nose job”. Need and want are two different things. Why would a woman need breast implants or a nose job? Is that extremely significant to their health?

If a woman wants one, I am all for it, whatever makes you happy. However needing one is a result of conditioned by the Society thinking. The problem is that women are always modifying their looks to be able to keep men interested, and then become insulted that men judge them based on a “face value”, but who is to blame if the women themselves becoming victims to the plastic surgery lab rat, are promoting the fact that it is their looks that matter.

Age catches up with everyone, there is always going to be a more beautiful, and younger woman around the corner. The only thing of substance that singles a woman out among the rest is her individuality, if she doesn’t contribute to nourishing that aspect of her, she will always be insecure of her looks.

Now an interesting fact. I noticed that more Armenian men have ascending noses, however they treat their schnozzle like it’s a prized possession. In fact they often compete on who has a bigger one (we are still talking about noses by the way). Thus they are hardly sensitive about their features. Because they are convinced, that women flock to power and money, while men flock to beauty.

Now that being said, a distant friend of mine is a prime example of this phenomenon. He is in his mid 20s, from Yerevan and has been blessed with a little extra skin on his breathing organ. However he’s very tall, has a triangular frame, muscles that make you want to run for chocolate (to relieve the visual stimulation), shoulders broad like the Nile, lips that you want to sink into, and eyes the color of ocean. Now…as you can imagine, girls are just clinging on to him like flies on the Watermelon on the hot summer night. All in all he has a distinguished nose, his friends teased him during friendly gathering, but they all laugh it off, and they only wish they can have as much attention as he receives. Now that is what I call confidence.

Women always have insecurity that is why they will always be judged by their looks, and will be primary clients of plastic surgeons. Wow, I am done with my Magnum Opus.

While we are on the topic...

Above eye or hair color, though, is a gnome’s nose. Even though gnomes don’t stand as tall as either dwarves or humans, their noses are often much bigger, a fact that they’re quite proud of. Many a discussion has ended in size comparisons, and both sexes consider a large nose to be a sign of beauty (though gnomish ladies are less likely to compare than gnomish men are). Adult (more than 100 years old) male gnomes often keep neatly trimmed beards, and, unlike dwarves, females do not grow facial hair.

2 very excellent and amusing posts Anileve (and I really agree with the points you made)...and just where do you get your vast knowledge of (the habits of) gnomes and dwarves?

I agree - rarely is a nose job a necessity (IMO) - though I have some (non Armenian) relatives who had nose jobs (one then others followed suit) to relieve some (genetic) breathing issue - worked wonders aparently...and they were very happy with their reduced beaks (I could hardly tell - but yeah I guess so..)

For any interested in this sort of issue - changing ones looks - drastically & such - I recommend 2 (Science Fiction) books in a series bt Greg Bear - Queen of Angels and Slant - both set in a near future where genetic manipulation and such is available after birth...and lots of other cool techological and otherwise future possibilities are introduced....well worth the read. One of the main characters drastically changes her appearence - from a smallish non-descript oriental gal to a striking tall black woman...and the whole pshychology of her experience..and what ensues is very interesting....

But I do agree Anileve - do such if you (or one) feels they must..but don't get so hung up on socities norms...be yourself and be proud of who you are...and Anileve - you might want to pass your friends number on to American-Hye/hagarag...sounds like just the sort he is after...LOL

No my dear, I can’t be a fly. I am a little elf with wings, just take a look at my avatar. He’s a friend of mine and I just can’t view him as such, so it’s improbable that sparks will fly. You are in LA, am I correct?

THOTH, stop complimenting me, my head is expanding with each sweet comment you make, if this continues soon I will have to be rolled into my home.

Interesting books, sci-fi I am assuming. What concerns passing the number, well for one, I think that he is in the phase of dating Russian Women….aren’t all young Armenian men? And as far as he’s concerned he prefers to the straight road.

Anileve, I agree with what you're saying - just one question:

What exactly is a gnome? Aren't they fictitious?

Well Vava I am glad you asked...

Gnomes are much like a mixture of elves and dwarves. While they share the dwarf’s love of work, it is tempered by an elf’s love of fun. They prefer areas of rocky, rolling hills, often in forests far from human habitation. They are physically small and slight, but nonetheless possess physical strength out of portion with their size. Their skin is typically appears either darkly tanned or brown, while their hair goes white at a very early age. Most have blue eyes that almost invariably dance with mirth, but those with green, brown, or yellow eyes are not unknown… some of the greatest gnomish heroes and villains have had these odd eye colors, so they are viewed as being particularly auspicious.
