shiner
A lot of times when that happens one of the two starts wanting to be more than just friends, if they are both single. But I think it is possible.

hyebruin
A lot of times when that happens one of the two starts wanting to be more than just friends, if they are both single. But I think it is possible. very true! however if there is no attraction to begin with, then no problem! however! (again) if they spend A LOT of time together...and if there is some sort of physical "potential" it is possible that their other good qualities will take over and "create" a physical attraction! [i'm just using a lot of imagination here! ] ...then you never know!! they might turn from friends to lovers in one sweet night!!---however after that the dynamics of the relationship has changed forever!! (and i'm not just talking about a little kiss!) but i don't believe in all the bull people give each other after a break up!!--- what is meant is that "i'll be civil to you" and not necessarily "call me up when you want to hang out, i'll be your 'friend' type of deal!!"...sad, really how they don't teach this stuff in school, college, ...etc. and we need find out the hard way!!----of course there are those (usually the dumped ones) who still pursue the "friendship" in hopes of one day getting the person back...such a waste of time...if the other person is not putting in the effort, then why the heck should you??? THOTH
Definatly. From myown experience I have several female friends who have been such for many many years. And I've certainly had and in soem cases certainly do "have feelings" for (some of) them and vice versa ...but that hasn't changed anything for us..even in cases where we have acted on such. (sure it changes some things - but it doesn't have to change the friendship...really it doesn't...unless it is to make the friendship stronger [certainly this takes certain types of people and a pretty special relationship to begin with). I actually just got a call about an hour ago from a long time (female) friend who invited us to an upcomming party. We have been frineds since High School and had strong feelings fo one another at a time (I had very strong feelings for her for a period)...but we have remained very very good friends - she is almost like a sister to me - and her folks consider me part of their family (they certainly wanted us to marryat one time! LOL)...so I fully know that this is possible.

angel4hope
okie Domino--whats ur point here? i understand that at some point when a guy and a girl get too close they can become more than friends--but it depends on the eprson--like i said before-i have many guy friends--theyre all cool-and i never thought of them as anything more than a friend--by the way i see tham as being like brothers 2 me--and they the same--but of course u have 2 take into consideration the other point- from the guys perspective--i have no idea if any of them see me differently--more than a friend--but i cant account for the male species--they always tend to think quite differently-hehe==j/k i dunno u may be right u know--but through my experiences-from my perspective--guys and gals can be just friends.....hopefully lets just sayy--now u sparked a bit of doubt in my mind---

ExtraHye
I think it's very easy for a guy and a girl to be platonic. It's actually better to have guy friends then female friends. This way you could help each other concerning relationships.
Vayri7X
I find that women who have a high sense of esteem and don't base their worth on things external of themselves have a better sesne of being able to act as friends with men- as equals- without stifling their thoughts and accepting second-class status. I find that men who are generally broad in thinking have the capability to act as friends with women. Especially men who have done some internal work on their sexism , et al , and can therefore view women as human beings and be able to interact with them as equals. Whereas other men may only see women as 1) existing for their own amusement and 2) baby factories . I have found these trends to be the case in at least three societies/ cultures I have been in . angel4hope
i agree vayri7x--can i call u wild-man--hehej/k- anyway--in typical armos--like rabiz ish pple- i doubt a girl can be friends w a guy--like at school- i used 2 hang w/some friends-mostly guys--non armo--the armos would look at me as if i was a "hoe"in their terms--they seem to think that if a girl is friends w a guy--or any man in general--then shes a "hoe" ist kinda shallow of them---i duno its weird-probably b/c they themselves cant get any and think of any girl they talk 2 is a piece of "a**"---instead of thinking of her as a friend --
angel4hope
they even seem 2 neglect the fact that women are human 2 ----

(good that someone can give some of us credit) And Bruin - LOL - perhaps true in some cases (but ok as well, if the feelings are there and it helps...as long as its beneficial etc and not just taking advantage of someone...)...though don't just discount friendship and the benefits of such either...I've been in plenty of situations with gals crying on my shoulder (& vice versa) where what was most important was to be a friend and to be there...
