I am very confident in my field of expertise and do well in work, but my confidence level falls outside of work. (could be compaired to faith), but I have confidence when it comes to my closest family or friends...(could be compaired to trust) Its not an emotion, but a feeling..and its all down to 'mind over matter' Arrogance could be confidence but more ruthless!! I've always had supreme confidence in myself and my abilities and my orientation (as a good person etc)....and I feel for those who don't - because it can be ovbvious sometimes that they have self-doubts & such and I think this prevents people from being themselves and having fun and doing things - and thats too bad. I wonder how many millions have died over the ages as a result of people with "confidence". What the world needs is for us all to have a lot less "confidence" and a lot more thoughtful self doubt. Confidence is just being sure not of one abilities, I believe, but just sure of oneself. I'm just sure in myself, my character, and my desire to be a good person. So overall these things breed overall confidence, which allows me to also perform well because I'm a person who is driven by upholding my word. If it turns out you were right, that means you were confident. If it turns out you were wrong, that means you were a fool. Note that you can be confident of imminent failure too. But you will never learn whether that was confidence or foolishness in most such cases since most likely you'll alter your actions accordingly. Some do take chances though to find out for sure. Sasun Posted November 21, 2003 Report Share Posted November 21, 2003 I think one way to define confidence is when you are sure that your life has a very good reason and there is a very special and unique mission wating for you to be fulfilled (whatever that be). Confidence is a good thing. One needs to be confident in his/her potential, and sometimes that potential can be hidden and not evident.
