"Often people attempt to live their lives backwards: they try to have more

things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want so that they

will be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first be

who you really are, then, do what you need to do, in order to have what

you want."

Kavorkin jan, this is your best post on this forum :) If you don't mind, I suggest you post more like this one and less like the others (I mean those one line posts in serious threads) :P ;)

I believe it's a "relative" state of mind. Your current state can be happier than another state (at another time) but I think happyness/sadness refer to relative states of mind.

It's like saying "define" more or less ... except in this case, happy and sad have good/bad conotations to them with happy being the more preferred state. Not sure if I was clear.

Sip,

I agree with the relative part. If I have a deadly disease just survivivng would make me happy, if I'm just surviving in a one room apartment a two room apartment would make me happy, if I'm in a two room apartment a house would make me happy.

And then if I was to go backwards from a house to a two room apartment I would be sad. But a two room apartment once made me happy.

It's all relative.
