THOTH
Sip - what kind of an Armenian are you? LOL There is a great contrast between the way my Armenian side (family/relatives...etc) has always show their affection as opposed to my other (Northern European/mixed) side. My Armenian relatives were/are much more physically (and emotionally) affectionate...including - with some - that cheek thing...where your cheek can hurt the whole rest of the day...LOL (I find myself doing that now even sometimes [to my nephews & nieces and kids & such...]...LOL) But its ashame that that doesn't do anything for you - as I find touch - even holding hands or a little hug etc to be such a positve thing that makes me feel good. Even some of my (male) friends and I hug when we see each other (no kissing...OK with some...[Europeean friends] we kliss cheeks & such...the French way...LOL]- and I think this is part of our closeness...our bond...and makes us closer - stronger friends and such. I think it is very important. And I think this is indicative of a problem for you - unable to be intimate. While you may deal OK with that now (it probably doesn't at all bother you I would guess)...I think at some point down the road you may crave/need this etc - and you may be unable to experience it...and this may really hurt you... THOTH
wow, thoth you still think/lust about her??? but isn't that like cheating in your heart? i'm just wondering!! i'd die if my husband (someday!) thought of his girlfriends in that way!!! ~~~thoth, that made me sad just reading it~~~ Well - its not like I think about her all of the time...or even often..but yeah I do (at times...yes...)...and its (to a large part) indicative of the great love I had for her...and probably to some extent still do have....and I have some of these feelings about other gals I have known in my life too - to varying degrees (some more lust - some more love etc ...LOL...somewhat joking there...but perhaps some truth to it as well)...and I don't think that this lessens at all the love I have for my wife...not in the least (she is even very well aware of some of my feelings..towards certain ex's, others [very good long time friends...] and such - some of whom I even keep in contact with a bit...others who are my good friends even now...)....but thats just me - I have a very big heart...with room in it...for many - I think (I know)...LOL. And my wife is very cool - and understands me well - very well - and gives me a pretty good (amazing really) leash in a lot of ways...(a few years ago I even went up to another city to visit an ex [who is still a good friend - and was before we ever dated and such....though haven't seen her in a few years...] for the weekend and we went out clubbing and having fun together...all with my wifes blessing as it were...and we have both visited her together as well...she is a fun gal! LOL) . And I have no qualms whatsoever about my wife feeling and expressing these type of cares etc for others (we trust each other and are very open towards/with each other...maybe a recepie for martital success eh?)...and in fact we have remained friends with one of her (long time) ex's - and occasionally (as they are on the West coast) see and do things with him and his family (wife & [like aged] children). I don't have or see any problem with this at all....(so don't be sad!) ...and on the lust side...well guys lust about all kind of gals (all the time)...so nothing unusual there...LOL...and I know gals do to (regarding guys they see/know or what not...and movie stars and that sort of thing...etc)...perhaps it is different then how guys are/do (understood)...but not entirely and in many ways somewhat/very much the same...(and its all natural and in good fun)...so I see nothing at all wrong with it...(and particualry since I had such incredible experiences with her in particular [and we did some very crazy/fun things...!]...just thinking of things we did sometime can get me very worked up...LOL)
Sip
[...where your cheek can hurt the whole rest of the day...LOL (I find myself doing that now even sometimes [to my nephews & nieces and kids & such...]...LOL)Look on the bright side ... you may be doing them a huge favor by helping them turn into little "me"s But its ashame that that doesn't do anything for you - as I find touch - even holding hands or a little hug etc to be such a positve thing that makes me feel good. For me, it's usually the opposite. The only "touch" I have never minded at all and actually crave at times is the occasional punch in the stomach or shoulder (or if they miss in the face) by one of the brothers But that usually involved very strong retaliations which feel just as good, if not better. I think at some point down the road you may crave/need this etc - and you may be unable to experience it...and this may really hurt you... Yah lots of unknowns and maybes in life... I just can't justify changing things now based on how I "may feel" a long time later down the road. I'll deal with that hurt much like I've dealt with other "hurt" that I have had so far when the time comes. That's what life is after all I think. Although I will admit that including foresight in current decisions can be VERY good thing to be able to do (or also disasterous at times). Sip
Thoth, one thing to always keep in mind when you consider your regrets ... if you had done any of those things that you say you wish had done, it would probably have resulted in you developing in a very different person than you are today. So now the question is, what exactly would have been the differences ... and I simply don't believe EVERYTHING would have been better. Often there is some good that comes out of even the biggest mistakes one can make.
THOTH
OK Sip - perhaps you are right of course...who is to know...not that any of it makes any difference now...what we chose and what we acted on i the past - well its already happened and cannot change (and yeah though - regrets...I have a few...hmm heard that somewhere before...and i am the type to run over past scenarious over and over and think what could I have done different etc...not good perhaps...but I can't help it...). And it really does suck getting old (even if for the most part I really don't feel all that much differently then I did when I was in my 20s...for the most part...physically/mentally [so far..] etc...) And Sip - if we ever meet - well prepare youself...LOL...yeah I'm very touchy-feely (and I don't care if it makes you uncomfortable)...LOL...yeah - big (lobster claw like) pinch on the cheek comming up! BitterSweet
Sip that's interesting... so do you ever feel the need to "want somebody?" .. and what kinda need is that to you?
Sip
Sip that's interesting... so do you ever feel the need to "want somebody?" .. and what kinda need is that to you?Well, there was this one time around 3AM ... it was a pretty hot summer night ... I was walking along in one of the UCLA engineering cooridors going back to my office. I had a crumpled up napkin in my hand ... as I was walking along, I was passing by a trash can that was about, I don't know, maybe 10-12 feet away (that's ~4 meters for non US folk). So I said what the heck and did this AWESOME sideways hook shot with the right hand (trash can was to the left) as I was walking by quickly. It was NOTHING BUT CAN!!!! The sweetest shot I have ever made and that's when I looked around ... there was NO ONE to see that! I made the greatest single shot of my life and no one saw it. Not even the janitor (absolutely true story by the way). So now, joking aside, there are plenty of times during the day that a healthy 27 year old male "wants" somebody, and I'm sure the other guys would back me up on this. But at least in my case, it's rarely due to "emotional want" reasons. So I guess that may shed some light on the "need" part. On a related note, I find myself checking forums like this quite often at times. I find them to be a great way to get some of the "stuff" out of my system that only other humans would understand and/or appreciate. The other benefit of a forum like this is that you are not commited to anything. You are free to come and go as you please, when you please, and most often, you won't be missed if you don't come back ... in other words, NO PRESSURE what so ever. Furthermore, there is almost no "cost" associated to switching from whatever you are doing to a forum like this and then switching back to work. bellthecat
The title of this thread reminds me of that song that goes "Everybody wants somebody sometime"/"... some place" and farther on you had "your love is well worth waiting - - - for someone, like youuuuuuuu"...Uh!! - you started a single line of a song running through my head, but I couldn't remember anything else of it except "everybody wants somebody sometime". To get it out I had a look at www.lyricmania.com to try and find the song - but nothing is listed under that title. But, nearby, I did notice Leonard Cohen's "Everybody knows" Everybody knows that the dice are loaded Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed Everybody knows that the war is over Everybody knows the good guys lost Everybody knows the fight was fixed The poor stay poor, the rich get rich That's how it goes Everybody knows Everybody knows that the boat is leaking Everybody knows that the captain lied Everybody got this broken feeling Like their father or their dog just died Which lead me to the page for Leonard Cohen... And there are no letters in the mailbox and there are no grapes upon the vine, and there are no chocolates in the boxes anymore, and there are no diamonds in the mine. Now see what you have done, I hope you're happy! Coz I won't be if this prompts me to blow the dust off all my copies of LC's old albums and play them for the first time in about a decade! PS None of this helped find the song I was originally looking for. Then I realised that the line I was remembering wasn't "everybody wants somebody sometime" but "everybody's got to learn sometime". It's by a 1980s band named The Korgis EVERYBODY'S GOT TO LEARN SOMETIME Change your heartLook around youChange your heartIt will astound you I need your loving like the sunshineAnd everybody's got to learn sometimeEverybody's got to learn sometimeEverybody's got to learn sometime Change your heartLook around youChange your heartIt will astound you Edited September 26, 2003 by bellthecat

Sip
Ahhhhh memories Well, now look what YOU did M-M-M-M-Memories light the corners of my mindMisty water-colored mem'ries of the way we were Scattered pictures of the smiles we left behindSmiles we gave to one another for the way we were. Can it be that it was all so simple thenOr has time rewritten every lineIf we had the chance to do it all again, tell me, would we, could we Memories may be beautiful and yetWhat's too painful to remember we simply choose to forgetSo it's the laughter we will rememberWhenever we remember the way we were.
