wh00t Posted October 28, 2001 Author Report Share Posted October 28, 2001 Thorny, although I can't answer any specifics on the name Goorjian, there's a good chance that "Goor" or "Goorj" means something in either Armenian or Turkish. The -ian suffix was given to Armenians in the Empire with the meaning "son of". For instance, Bedrosian means son of Bedros. Or Topalian means son of lame man. (I had a best friend some seven years ago who was a lispy - "Filiiiith, you're naaath-ty!!" LOL...)Petek, on the other hand, means honeycomb.Gur or gurdj, I can't think of anything in Turkish, except for "guer/gür" which means dense (like a forest or someone's hair).
