Anything "good" about Turks...

wh00t

Recommended Posts

Present-day good-looking Turks are the result of the forced Islamification (marriage to a Turkish man) and rape of Armenian women during the Genocide.

The large, "mighty" Turkish republic is the result of a series of barbaric quests to conquer territory by the Seljuks and onwards. Turkey's prize for exterminating an entire race was Eastern Anatolia, a gift that they will never give back to the Armenians.

Products associated with the Turks are the result of stealing the accomplishments of others and claiming them as their own. Take the so-called Turkish Van cats, who were bred by Armenians for 2,000 years in Van, a historically Armenian city. There's the subject of Anatolia of course (Ani, Van, etc. which were historically Armenian territories) And the Greeks.. everything Greek is now more associated with the Turks (Greek coffee = Turkish coffee, Greek delight = Turkish delight, Greek yogourt = Turkish yogourt).

The fact of the matter is, if Turks lived civilized lives thoroughout history, instead of like savage beasts whose existence depended on conquering and stealing from other cultures, they would not be here today. The intellectuals in the Ottoman Empire were the Christian Armenians. The Armenians fight with their brains as opposed to their hands, which is why although we lost 1.5 million to the Ottomans, the Armenian people are still superior to the Turks.

One thing I see in some Armenians: they forget the Balkanites, the Circassians, the Arabs, Persians, Kurds, Greeks, and others in our blood. You were not the only ones present in Anatolia. Additionally, people of the Mongoloid race are not ugly, confronting your opinion with mine though I may be.

Barbarians are incapable of upholding empires for long - the Ottomans. Turkey's "might" is not due to properties confiscated from Armenians, either.

I myself was thinking that it is better if you call them just Van cats. Otherwise, you also have twerps calling the Kangal a "Kurdish dog"... How do you "steal" these, though? Where are the owners, then, if this is all such an issue? Don't the owners know how to look up for their rights? Call them Greco-Assyrico-Kurdo-Armenian cats, then. Oh wait - weren't Turks of Anatolia a result of the admixture of these?

Coffee came from the Yemen to what is now Istanbul (<--Ottoman Empire), where the art of coffee-making was refined and thence introduced to the world. In fact, retreating after the defeat of the siege from Vienna, the Turks left behind bags of coffee, which the Austrians had thought were black-powder. That's how it would DEFINITELY have ended up being called Turkish. Too bad.

Turkish delight has its origins in the Arabic countries, as Arabs are more into desserts and sweets than anyone else. Where did you get that from? Are we incapable of pronouncing the "i" at the end, lokumi, and have to say "lokum" (an Arabic word) instead?

No such thing called Greek yoghurt. Yoghurt was brought into Anatolia by the Turks.
Actually, I have to thank you for your neologisms... Learn a new thing everyday!

Again, more self-assigned value than is necessary. True, there were groups of Armenian, Greek, and others' intellectuals, yet I never heard of an Armenian "divan" poet. Now, would that give me the excuse to spew crap?

And in what way might you be my superior? I could never beat you in being a generalizing maniac, I'll give you that.

MJ, I am surprised... This person is not just letting something off his chest, he is finding an excuse to vomit crap to sate his hate because of the suffering of his family and the genocide against his people. It does not give him (or anyone else, for that matter) the excuse to say shit about my culture, history, ancestors, and people.

I know, Thorny. But he says that's what is in his chest. What can one do about it? I guess it is the problem of his chest. Let him get it out. And now that it is out, let's see what else is in his chest...

Make that "let's see what else is in his head"...
He has to tell me how it is that I am his inferior.

He will, wait a bit. But it is in his heart not the head.

Until the Turkish state and people acknowledge the Genocide that was perpetrated against my people, there can be no reconciliation between us, and I will continue to have plenty of reason to bash Turks and Turkey however I please. Not only is such revisionism revolting, it is reprehensible and laughable at the same time; to think, these people consider themselves to be living in a model, civilized Muslim country. PLEASE! Oppression, repression, and discrimination places Turkey below most of the newly-formed Soviet states on the UN's latest human development list (well below Armenia, as a side note).

If more Turks would be like Taner Akcam rather than Bulent Ecevit, Turkey could (one, distant day) become a civilized, democratized country rather than the corrupt, racist, destructionist, oppressive regime it is today.

Man, you sound like the King of Armenia with your “my people.” Do you think it is symptomatic of something?

You may continue bashing the Turks and Turkey the way you want, but it would be more indicative of who you are rather than who the Turks are.

Besides, the way you sound it doesn’t occur to me that even after the Turkish state and people acknowledge the Genocide, you would change your attitude.

My people, the Armenians. What should I call them, then? Thorny Rose used the term "my people" in his post?

I can only speak what I feel is true, my friend. If by speaking my mind I am degraded in your eyes, I can only shrug and carry on.

The Genocide denial is at the core of the problem. Once we overcome this barrier, doors will open and things will change. Count on it.

Our people would do it, I think.

She does? I am sure she would get a kick out of knowing that you take an example from her.

The problem is that you are not speaking the truth. You are overly simplifying and generalizing, which is always bad, and yes, maybe degrading. The truth and the common sense are always more acceptable.

The Genocide denial is at the core of the problem.

Maybe. But you are not trying to open the doors. You are just building walls on both sides of the doors.

As long as you carry on like this, you will not have worked hand in hand with the Turkish people but rather revolted them. Not all Turks are happy with the way things are, but they are also, to put it softly, misinformed and (to not put it softly) brainwashed about Armenians in general. Although this does not give them an excuse for any repugnant rhetoric as far as Armenians are concerned, I think they also deserve to be understood, just as much as I can somewhat understand why you have so much hate and what-not in you - although I do not tolerate it - and I try to do my best to tell you to correct yourself. This "I will do as I please" attitude of yours is pure conceit and nothing else. While you are after your pleasure, "we the others" would like to work in other dimensions.
Had I not been informed enough about Armenians, you would have lost me as an individual... I might not necessarily have been to tell it was in your individual traits to be like this and hence turned off against Armenians - also understandable given the conditions - which, I assume, we are all pretty much aware of.
Do I make myself understood?

There is one little issue preceding the issue of the Armenian Genocide, though, in chronological stance, it is younger. It is misinformation of both sides. Just look at your post that got me pissed.

Whoot,

In my entire life I have never met an Armenian who hadn’t have "special" feelings towards the turks (excuse my French). The best approach is to ignore them until the time (probably after several centuries when their evolution hopefully would be completed) when they will realize that defending defenseless cause is waist of time and emotions. As you correctly said, they are "Barbarians.” How can you expect from a barbarian to recognize his own wrongful doing?

But, Gamavor, my sweetie, how can you even know it if Turks recognize the Armenian Genocide if you ignore them and heed your mommy's "Don't talk to them!" so much that you can't even read the "Rose" of my name and you therefore happened to address me as "Thorny whatever"...? Does your mommy wipe your arse after s'hit-break and baby-powder it up, too?

Well said, Thorny. Reminds me of an on-line "discussion" I once had with an Armenian after he had read, and believed, some nonsence about the Turkish army having a policy of killing Van cats because they were "Kurdish" cats. He insisted on calling them "Armenian cats".

Why? Do they have Armenian passports, or meeoow in Armenian! But it is hardly fair to blame Turkey for calling them "Turkish Van cats". Blame the Americans (as usual - MJ ). It is a name invented by American cat breeders to make something special out of the descendants of a pair of cats bought in Van in (I think) the 1970s. And they were not even REAL Van cats - as each eye was not a different colour.

Gamavor! I could kiss you if you were standing here.. you are absolutely right! The absolute best policy the Armenians can take up at this point is to IGNORE, IGNORE, IGNORE the denial. While the Turks are whining and droning on in the background about it, the Armenians are taking initiative and getting the Genocide recognized in France, Italy, and so on (and soon Canada.. come on O beautiful nation of mine, you can do it!) The Armenians didn't even consider what the Turks were up to. As the world acknowledges what happened, one nation at a time, Turkey is going to feel even more isolated than it does now, and THEN will they look into the mirror and reflect upon how lost their cause really is. No joke "reconciliation groups" will do.. the ball is in the Armenians' court. Turkey does not want to admit to the crimes of their ancestors? Fine. We'll keep our initiative anyway.

People like Taner Akcam give me hope, but I know that he is simply "sick" in a world of brainwashed Turks (a la "This Perfect Day" by Ira Einhorn). You are right.

Thorny, for someone trying to lecture me on being politically correct, was that really necessary? (/me smells hypocrisy in the air.)

I was checking to see if Gamavor is even aware of my presence... By the looks of it, he wouldn't even know it if I or any other Turk swore to wage war until the Turkish government recognized the Armenian Genocide - not that I would... So, really, this "ignore them until, wee wee wee" is just arrogance and nothing else.
