Sip
This thing got me curious ... I was just flipping through the channels when something on Iranian TV (here in LA) caught my eye... this guy was showing a picture of his parrents. His father was 38, his mom was 8 or 9 in that pic He said his mom gave birth to his bigger brother at around the age of 12. After a bit of http://zr2.cs.ucla.edu/Sip/zr2/barf.gif I started to think. Did such things happen in Christian Armenia as well or is pedophilia mainly an "islamic" thing?

nairi
One of my grandmothers was 15 when she had her first child, the other sixteen. Both their husbands were 10 to 15 years older than them. This used to be a common custom among Armenians for a long time. I wouldn't be surprised if there are still Armenians who do this. Then again, none of this can be as bad as the rape of a nine-month-old infant in South Africa. Nairi

Azat
Who is this Sipan guy? My best friends grandmother got married when she was 11(can you believ that) 11 freaking years old and she was married. She had her first child at 13 or 14. I just can't imagine anyone getting married so early. I do have a different question. IF you do not mind dear Sipan. What is the right age for a male to get married and have children(I know there is no such thing as right age). The reason why I ask is because when I tell friends and family that I do not want to get married till I am 37-40 years old and that I never want to have kids they all think that I am nuts. Am I nuts? Sip
quote:Originally posted by Azat:... Am I nuts?Well the jurry is still out on that one But about the Armenian male marriage age thing, I think you are definitely NOT ALONE !!!! My grandparents and old aunts and uncles would always tell me at weddings ... "when is your turn going to be?", "I hope you are next", and stuff like that. They stoped doing that crap when I started doing the same to them at funerals! Admittadly I must do the work or I will fail the subject This really sux . If anyone is interested the name of the subject is Circuit Analysis, and its a third year electronics subject. ouch! The other two eletronics subjects I did I got 57% (after applying for special consideration) and 47% (but I got a conceeded passed because I did well in my other subjects that semester). Pray for me! Sorry for getting off topic, but I couldnt exactly share this with my parents .
Sip
quote:Originally posted by Accelerated:... the name of the subject is Circuit Analysis...Don't worry! It only seems hard in the beginning because it's new. After a while, it'll become like second nature to you. Just make sure you DO the homeworks. It is really one of those subjects that you only learn by doing lots and lots of examples. The theories are really simple. ... but I know in UCLA they use that class as the "weed out" course. This means they rely on it to get rid of the students that don't really belong in Electrical Engineering. That's why those "core" classes are typically designed to be much harder than they actually are! So good luck [ August 28, 2002, 10:42 PM: Message edited by: Sip ]
Accelerated
Thanks for the encouragement Sip, I just hope that I done get a seazure when I open the book, because its a continuation of the previous two subjects, which I only scraped through. And lets hope I dont get 'weeded out', otherwise I might end up playing Warcraft and arguing with hagarag, THOTH and Co. for the rest of my miserable life. Sip
It was CRAZY today ... it was 114F in our backyard in the shade (that's 45.5 degrees C for you backwards people ) ... and I had to drive about 90 miles (that's 144.8km ) back and forth doing stuff (well, actually, got to school, realized I didn't have my key, drove back home, realized it was in the car the whole time, kicked myself a couple of times and drove back) ... I never turn on the AC in my car but today, I had to do it twice (for like 5 min each time) [ September 03, 2002, 12:51 AM: Message edited by: Sip ]
