I saw it last night pretty funny. the woman who was playing the 'turkish' actress is Greek and she was in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" . If any of you saw the movie they portrayed the turks as bloodthirsty people. I'm guessing that the Turkish State television episode on SNL was done on purpose. I was laughing my a** off when the turkish actress started picking her nose in front of the camera After the 2 turkish men started to argue one of them turned to the other and said "You're threating me like I'm an Armenian"

I guess they came to realize that they can't and won't escape the past and sooner or later they will recognize it for their own good.

In respect to the methods we indertook for practically neutralizing the threat, I think, it is not time to make it public yet. I have no right. The Turkish factor, as such, played quite an essential role in the events taking place in 1993. I mean both the Artsax war and lots of political and diplomatic demarches undertaken by different states, as well as the negotiations on settling any possible contacts, including Turkey, and on the other hand, these are events that resulted in coldness oif the realtions etc. In this context, the immediate threat of Turkey's military interference in the events in the region, especially in Artsax, was high. Turkey actively prepared for the interference in the Artsax issue, the military way of solution - not excluded. Let alone Turkey's constant help to Azerbaijan with arms, instructors and so on; well it, in a way, goes without saying, and is background phenomenon. But the thing is that it was, in their opinion, not sufficient and they were getting ready for real intrusion. NT: To what degree is the threat of Turkey's intrusion into Armenia real nowadays? Is it today as strong as in 1993? E.S.: No. From the viewpoint of threat, the Turkish intrusion today is incomparably less real than it was in 1992-3. But, in fact, it is not excluded. The events may unfol in the most unxpected way, and such conditions may come up when the temptation for Turkey will sufficiently high, and the general event chain will highly contribute to making a decision of that kind. That's why, to say that the threat is 100% excluded, would be a lie, but today, the probability of their invasion is low enough. NT: What is it connected with that they came to evaluate the situation more really? E.S. Not only with this. The matter is that it is not at all useful for Turkey to indulge in any military conflicts, moreover, they are urged to by the US. This is both a participation in terroristic acts and the possible intrusion into Iraq and so on and so forth. So in this concern, it would be an extreme luxury for Turkey to commence another conflict. Armenians in southern Russia come under attack - Armenian news agency Arminfo, Yerevan 16 Sep 02 Krasnodar Anti-Armenian pogroms have begun again in Kuban southern Russia . In the evening of 14 September in the town of Slavyansk-na-Kubani riots took place directed against the local Armenian population, Arminfo news agency learnt from the newspaper Yerkramas, published in the south of Russia. According to the local inhabitants of the town, that evening a crowd of 15 to 16-year-old teenagers, 300 in all amongst whom adults were also seen, walked down the streets of the town where various establishments, shops, cafes, etc. belonging to Armenians, are located. The crowd threw stones at these establishments and beat Armenians whom they came across. The Armenian church, which opened recently in Slavyansk-na-Kubani, was not damaged, as the local Armenians immediately took up defence of the church. According to the same sources, the town police had been sent to the town of Anapa for unknown reasons. There is information that injured Armenians had to go to medical centres and their number is being clarified. The situation in the town stabilized on 15 September and is controlled by reinforced police units.
