Please MosJan, can you impress on Garo that this new fagled HTML is a total fiasco?

No wonder our best writers in Armenian, including myself are notx writing anymore?

In the above post of yours we cannot distinguish where a word, a phrase, a sentence, a paragraph begins and where it ends.

I will repeat what I had said before. I swear to not write in Armenian until and forever unless the system is cleaned.

PS. Some of our mods and ads are so protective of this fiasco. I would like to see them write a word, a phrase, a sentence, not to mention an article in Armenian.

Yess we all know how to copy and paste from furko-asszeri media.

SYRIAN OPPOSITION'S IMPORTANT FOOTHOLD IN ALEPPO IS DESTROYED

July 08, 2013 | 11:00

In Syria's economic capital city Aleppo, the government troops

destroyed one of the opposition rebels' important footholds from

where the Sulaymaniyah District was under constant shooting.

To note, the Armenian community members of Aleppo primarily live in

the aforesaid district.

According to the latest official data, there were clashes between

the military and the opposition rebels in numerous districts and,

as a result, the rebels suffered great losses.

http://shabab.ayyam.org/en/story/famine-feared-western-aleppo-food-embargo-persists

As the much disputed food embargo on entering food supplies into western Aleppo enters its 3rd day, it has sparked fears of a famine occuring in the areas that have largely remained under Assad's control throughout the past year, according to activists. It remains unclear why food supplies were banned from entering the western part of Syria's largest city as both sides traded blame for the unfolding tragedy, as observers warn that time is running out for a deal to be reached before a widespread famine occurs. Some cite the recent fighting along the southwestern Damascus - Aleppo highway where several regime checkpoints have barred civilians from entering food through that entrance. Fierce clashes have broken out last week near that entrance following rebels' attempts to take control over the neighborhood of Ar-Rashideen, part of a large military offensive to liberate the entire city of AleppoThe situation continues to dramatically escalate since food supplies are already scarce and prices have skyrocketed, as some basic goods have seen their prices double or even tripple in some areas, with many products have already vanished from store shelves. All sorts of crops are also nowhere to be found in western Aleppo since farmers from the adjacent fields and orchards were barred from entering their goods to the western neighborhoods. To make matters worse, water supplies are also running dry, ever since water was cut off the city almost simultaneously, prompting many to wonder whether the regime is behind the contrived crisis.

Update #5

Flour Shortage Forces Bakeries to Close Down in Western Aleppo

As the humanitarian situation in western Aleppo continue to worsen due to the food embargo imposed on that part of the city, bakeries in several neighborhoods like Furqan and Shaba'a had no option but to close down, citing the shortage of flour, as their stocks begin to run out. On Tuesday night, the food embargo enters its 5th day as activists warn of a looming humanitarian crisis and reiterate calls to open both the border crossing in Bustan Al-Qasser that is manned by rebel factions and have barred food from entering western Aleppo, and the southwestern Damascus- Aleppo Highway that was closed due to it being targeted by sniper fire.

Update #4

Western Aleppo Suffers as Food Embargo Enters 4th Day

The food embargo that was imposed on western Aleppo on Thursday night has entered its 4th day today amid calls to re-open a border crossing that connects the eastern and western parts of the war-torn city, according to opposition sources.

Meanwhile, food prices continue to soar as the remaining food stock in western Aleppo has almost run out. Activists have reiterated their calls for the rebel factions barring food from enterign through the sole pedestrian border crossing in Bustan Al-Qasser to allow people to let people carrying food supplies to pass through to the western neighborhoods. Moreover, the only other entrance which is the Damascus- Aleppo Highway in southwestern Aleppo remained closed for the 4th consecutive day, it is still unclear who is behind the blockage as both sides denied responsibility for it, leaving some to wonder whether it's a contrived crisis to begin with.

Update #3

Rebel Faction Denies Responsibility for Closing Vital Highway in Aleppo

A rebel faction operating in Khan Al-Assal, a flashpoint town southwest of Aleppo, has released a statement denying responsibility for closing down the vital Damascus- Aleppo highway after fierce clashes have broken out along southwest of Aleppo, following rebels' advancements in Ar-Rashideen neighborhood, in a bid to gain control over the remaining western parts of Syria's largest city. It remains unclear what party is behind the blockage as both sides trade blame for the incident that is sparking fears of a possible famine in the western neighborhoods after the food embargo imposed on the residents enters its 4th day on Monday.

Aleppo Now Publishes Names of Battalions Responsible for Barring Food Supplies through Border Crossing

Aleppo Now Network has published what it claims are the names of the Free Syrian Army Battalions responsible for barring food supplies from entering western Aleppo through Karaj Al-Hajez border crossing in Bustan Al-Qasser, dubbed "border crossing of death" by many Aleppines, which connects the eastern and western parts of Syria's largest city that is torn by civil war. The reason for the food embargo, according to the battalions, was to prevent food prices from rising in the rebel-held parts of the city, after food smuggling through the border crossing has flourished in the recent days. Activists have also launched a campaign in support of the food embargo, claiming that "they've paid for their liberation by the blood of the martyrs" and that residents of western Aleppo have to protest against the regime for closing the southwestern entrance on the Damascus - Aleppo Highway, which has contributed to what they call a "contrived crisis".

SYRIAN REBELS FIRE TO DISPERSE CIVILIAN PROTEST IN ALEPPO

July 10, 2013 - 17:03 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net - Syrian rebels fired into the air to disperse a

protest by civilians in a rebel-held district of Aleppo against a

blockade preventing food and medicine reaching government-held areas

of the northern city of Aleppo, residents said on Wednesday, July 10,

according to Reuters.

Rebel fighters have stopped supplies entering western Aleppo for

weeks. The tactic is aimed at weakening the supply routes of President

Bashar Assad's forces but thousands of civilians are now left hungry,

residents say.

Video footage posted on the Internet on Tuesday showed dozens of

civilians in the rebel-held neighborhood of Bustan al-Qasr protesting

at a rebel checkpoint which prevents supplies from entering the western

part of the city, home to 2 million people and held by the army.

Although insurgents and the army control different parts of the

country, civilians are normally allowed to cross freely to shop or

meet family members and friends.

The footage, posted by the opposition Bustan al-Qasr Information

Office, showed men at the protest chanting, "the people want an end

to the blockade." A rebel fighter brandishes a pistol and then a

gunshot is heard as the video ends.

An opposition activist group called the Aleppo Martyrs said rebels

fired at the protesters, killing one person and wounding several

others. But a resident at the protest said the man was killed prior

to the protest by army sniper fire as he tried the cross between

rebel and government-held territory.

Syrian Truth l FSA Terrorists behind Aleppo Sarin Gas Attack, not Syrian Army: Russian Inquiry to UN

It is very likely that terrorists the "Free Syrian Army" (FSA), not the Syrian Army, that were behind a chemical attack in Khan al-Asal in Aleppo that left two dozen dead earlier this year. That's according to a Russian team that conducted an on-site investigation and believes the chemical trail leads straight to the foreign-backed insurgents. Washington, though, maintains that it is more likely to be the regime in Damascus, without presenting any proof to substantiate its claim.

http://hetq.am/static/content/mardik/hakob_ev_emma/DSC07355.JPG

http://hetq.am/static/content/mardik/hakob_ev_emma/DSC07356.JPG

Al-Safir , Lebanon

Al-Safir Publishes Terms of an Agreement on Syria. Why Did the
Lebanese Not Read into the Change that Occurred in Qatar?

by Dawud Rammal

So far, the Lebanese have failed to read into the ramifications and
outcomes of the changes that were seen in the state of Qatar, perhaps
because the Egyptian events topped all the concerns; or because the
Lebanese are very cautious when it comes to approaching the new Qatari
situation because they have interests in this small princedom; or
because Qatar successfully established relations with many influential
political and popular parties in Lebanon; and also because the fears
raised by the flow of Qatari money to some armed Lebanese groups. But
the Lebanese failed to notice that ending the situation of Sheikh
Ahmad al-Asir in Sidon clearly 'clipped the wings' of the Qatari
politics in Lebanon. This might be followed by a Qatari regression in
Lebanon, following a lengthy period of advanced Qatari partnership
with the influential countries on Lebanon. This princedom managed to
impose its vision and lured top international and Arab and regional
player in Lebanon into consulting it and taking its opinion whenever
they want to pass a deal or put solutions to the crises. The most
prominent example was the Doha Agreement which led to the election of
President Michel Sulayman and to the holding of the parliamentary
elections. A national unity government was later formed too. However,
it seems that the Qatari regression in Lebanon comes in the context of
the losses suffered by this state amid several losses in favour of the
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia especially when it comes to the Syrian file.
Indeed, Saudi Arabia has recently succeeded in seizing the leadership
of the opposition's Syrian Coalition from Qatar.

But the question that arises here is: Are the political changes in the
Qatari administration going to be confined to the 'emirate of gas' or
will they have repercussions on the files associated with the previous
administration, the final decision of which was made by former Prime
Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin-Jasim Al-Thani?

"The available pieces of information indicate that the massive
political fall of the former Qatari rule practically means the fall of
all the public and secret commitments and agreements that Qatar had
already made, mainly the 10-point agreement concerning the phase that
will follow the supposed fall of the Syrian President Bashar al-Asad.
Al-Safir had access to highly important pieces of information
regarding a secret agreement that was made on the sidelines of the
Syrian opposition's conference in Doha in November 2012. Most of the
conference's attendees knew nothing about this agreement which was not
discussed with them. The available information indicates that the
agreement was made between the then-Foreign Minister of Qatar Hamad
Bin-Jasim Al-Thani, and his counterparts including Turkey's Ahmet
Davutoglu and the UAE's Abdullah Bin-Zayid Al-Nahyan, as well as
Robert Ford, the American ambassador to Syria, Riyad Sayf, the Syrian
opposition member who was then at the head of the Syrian opposition's
Coalition, and Muhammad Riyad al-Shaqafah, the head of the MB group in
Syria.

The Terms of the Agreement

The agreement - which was to be carried out following the fall of
Bashar al-Asad and the rise of a new regime - stipulated the
following:

1. Reducing the number of the Syrian Army troops from 600,000 to 100,000.

2. Syria, under the new regime, is not entitled to reinstate the Golan
Heights, except through diplomatic and political tools and aside from
any military actions.

3. A peace treaty is to be signed between Israel and Syria under the
supervision of Washington, the European Union, and Qatar. A water pipe
is to be extended from the Ataturk Dam in Turkey through the Syrian
territories all the way to Israel.

4. Under the supervision and assistance of Washington, the new Syrian
regime shall get rid of all the chemical and biological weapons and
missiles of all kinds.

5. The new Syrian regime shall undertake, in writing, to stop
demanding to reinstate the Iskenderun territory and shall relinquish
some border towns that are inhabited by Turkmen in the governorates of
Aleppo and Idlib and give them to Turkey. In addition, all the
fighters of the PKK shall be expelled and the fugitives shall be
handed over in addition to blacklisting the PKK.

6. The new Syrian regime shall annul all the former agreements signed
with the Russian and Chinese companies in the field of underground
wealth exploration and weapons' deals.

7. Qatar shall be allowed to install a gas pipe through the Syrian
territories all the way to Turkey and from there to Europe.

8. Qatar and the UAE shall pledge to reconstruct Syria, provided that
the privileges of the gas and oil exploration in the Syrian lands and
the Mediterranean Sea are given to the Qatari and Emirati companies
exclusively.

9. Limiting the relations with Iran, Russia and China and boycotting
ties with Hizballah and the Palestinian movements that refuse to
abandon resistance.

10. An Islamic, non radical regime shall be established in Syria, the
leaders of which are to start implementing the terms of this agreement
as soon as the opposition accesses power.

"The signatories of the agreement back then agreed on escalating the
confrontations and increasing the military pressure on the regime in
the next few months. They were expecting that the regime will collapse
between April and May 2013. The available pieces of information also
indicate that the field developments - that reached a pinnacle with
the fall of the strategic Al-Qusayr village and the Turkish popular
protests, as well as the escalation of the already-stringent Russian
position - tipped the balance. Furthermore, the fact that Al-Asad's
regime did not collapse within months as expected led to failure of
the plan and to the fall of those who were working on it. The change
in Qatar thus occurred by the end of the spring season and the
beginning of the summer. This was followed by the resounding fall of
the MB rule in Egypt. However, this does not mean that Syria is
shielded against a political change under the terms of a new political
administration, the features of which will start to emerge by early
2014.

Chambers of Industry to Take Legal Action against Erdogan Government over Looting Acts

Feb 15, 2013

DAMASCUS, (SANA)- Chairman of the Federation of the Syrian Chambers of Industry, Fares al-Shahabi, called upon Syrian industrialists to support the Federation's efforts to halt the acts of theft and loot against the Syrian industry and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The Federation is seeking to take legal procedures against the Turkish government of Recep Tayyip Erdogan over involvement in piracy and looting acts in Syria, a move that was supported by the government and the People's Assembly.

A statement issued by the Federation on Thursday, which was distributed to the Chambers of Commerce, stressed that Erdogan's government is involved in acts of looting and facilitating stolen things into Turkey, in addition to its provision of shelter and arms to the terrorists and opening its border for them to pass into Syria.

"The Federation has got lots of evidence and documents which confirm the Turkish government's involvement in these acts," al-Shahabi said, describing these acts as "a confirmed crime against our economy, people and homeland."

He highlighted that the Syrian industry and factories are heavily and systematically targeted in all the industrial cities and areas by the looting gangs, most evidently in the province of Aleppo.

Al-Shihabi stressed that these acts of looting are being committed under Turkey's wing, a fact that has become known to everybody.

"We are today in front of a great historic responsibility to do whatever that could be done to curb this piracy and bring its perpetrators to justice," said al-Shahabi.

"Most importantly is to compel the Turkish government, the first guardian of the thieves and terrorists, to make amends by prosecuting it at the concerned international parties," he added.

He considered it "a national, human and religious duty" to support the Federation's efforts in this regard, calling upon all the national industrialists to stand up to their battle.

SYRIAN ARMY ARRESTS TENS OF TURKMEN ARMED REBELS IN ALEPPO

http://english.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13920426001057
Wed Jul 17, 2013 5:0

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian army has arrested a large number of Turkmen
nationals fighting alongside the al-Qaeda terrorists against President
Bashar al-Assad's government, media reports said.

Tens of Turkmen terrorists have been arrested by the Syrian army
troops in different parts of Aleppo, the country's second largest city,
Jahineh news website quoted an informed source as saying.

A Salafi group named Marateb is in charge of recruiting Salafi
elements from Turkmenistan and other former Soviet Union republics
and dispatching them to Northern Syria to join armed rebels in those
areas, the source said.

"And now the Syrian army has managed to arrest tens of these Salafi
elements, including Roshan Gazakov," he added.

The source explained that Gazakov, along with his wife and five
children, arrived in Syria several months ago and as he was recruited
by Marateb.

In June, the Russian television channels showed that Syrian forces had
arrested Roshan Gazakov nicknamed Abu Abdollah, the ringleader of an
al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group who claimed to be a Turkmen national.

Gazakov said that he travelled from Turkmenistan to Istanbul and then
to borders with Syria where in an al-Qaeda camp he was trained on how
to professionally make bombs by trainers from former Soviet union,
Europe, Jordan and Qatar.

Gazakov noted that he had a choice to make between two terrorist
groups of Lava Ahrar al-Sham and Katibeh al-Mohajerin.

"The Syrian troops have gained access to videos showing Gazakov
training his young child on how to use Kalashnikov rifle and also
planting bombs in a car to be used later in suicide attacks," the
source added.

KURDS SEIZE SYRIAN BORDER TOWN AMID ANKARA CONCERNS

July 18, 2013 - 15:06 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net - A Syrian Kurdish party with links to Kurdish
militants in Turkey has seized control of a Syrian border town after
days of clashes with Islamist fighters, the Turkish military said,
according to Reuters.

The capture of Ras al-Ain on Syria's northeastern border with Turkey
by the Democratic Union Party (PYD) will heighten Ankara's fears
that the emergence of an autonomous Kurdish region in Syria could
embolden homegrown militants of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK),
which is fighting for autonomy in Turkey.

Turkey's foreign minister voiced concern at the spillover of violence
from the war in its southern neighbor and called again on the United
Nations Security Council, which has yet to come to a consensus over
Syria, to act.

In a statement late on Wednesday, July 17 the military said Ras
al-Ain had fallen under the control of the PYD, which it described
as a "separatist terrorist organization". Fighting in the town had
now stopped.

Turkish troops had shot at PYD fighters in Syria in accordance with
its rules of engagement after two rocket propelled grenades fired
from Syria struck a border post on the Turkish side of the frontier.

The return fire was the second time in as many days the military has
answered in kind after several stray bullets from Syria struck the
police headquarters and several homes in the adjacent Turkish town
of Ceylanpinar on Tuesday.

Two Turkish citizens, including a 15-year-old boy, were killed by
stray bullets in what was the most serious spillover of violence into
Turkey from Syria in weeks. The military said it had now strengthened
security along that part of the border with armored vehicles.

in attack on civilian convoy: activists

6:37am EDT

BEIRUT (Reuters) - Rebels attacked a convoy of trucks and buses in northern Syria, activists said on Wednesday, after Islamist militants had warned they would target all vehicles on the road to stop the army from using its only remaining route to Aleppo.

One woman was killed and 19 people were wounded, some critically, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an anti-Assad monitoring group based in Britain.

The hardline Islamist rebel group Ahrar al-Sham uploaded video footage of the attack onto YouTube on Tuesday. It shows rebels firing artillery and mortars from a barren hillside and several trucks on fire. There is no return fire from the convoy of around 30 vehicles on the road between Salamiyeh, east of the central city of Homs, and Aleppo, Syria's largest city.

The road is the army's only route to the embattled city of Aleppo, with the rest blocked by rebels, the Observatory's director, Rami Abdelrahman, said by telephone.

The Syrian conflict started with peaceful protests in March 2011, but after a crackdown by government forces turned into a civil war that has become increasingly sectarian. Nearly 100,000 people have been killed, according to the United Nations.

Majority Sunni Muslims lead the revolt, while Assad, whose family has ruled Syria for 43 years, gets his core support from his own Alawite sect, an offshoot of Shi'ite Islam.

Jabhat al-Nusra, another Islamist rebel group affiliated with al Qaeda, issued a statement on Monday warning residents it would attack any vehicle found on the road to Aleppo.

"We warn civilians against being dragged into the criminal regime's attempts to use them as human shields and as a cover to secure its movements," the statement said.

An unidentified voice in Tuesday's video says the attack hit a military convoy. Activists said the victims were civilians.

"They are all Christian Syrian-Armenians who live in Aleppo. They travelled in a large convoy because it is safer," said Abdelrahman, citing medical staff at an Aleppo hospital where the wounded were being treated.

Pulse Gathering for Syrian Civil Youth, which calls itself a non-violent group against sectarianism, said on its Facebook page on Wednesday that the attack targeted civilians, including women and children, and called it "a reprehensible crime".

Syrian state media have not mentioned the incident.

Reporting and security restrictions make it hard to verify accounts of events in Syria.

Eye on Syria: Concern mounts as another Armenian dies in Aleppo

http://armenianow.com/sites/default/files/img/imagecache/600x400/syria-bus-shooting.jpg Photo: Screenshot from youtube.com

By Gohar Abrahamyan

ArmeniaNow reporter

In the Near East, where clashes between rebels and the state army continue inflicting heavy human casualties, two passenger buses from Aleppo to Beirut suffered from an armed assault, leaving one Armenian dead, 16 more injured.

Press Service of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports, with reference to the Armenian Embassy in Damascus, that the victim was a mother of two, 40-year-old Tamar Varvaryan-Srunyan (her husband and two children are among the injured passengers). Two of the injured Armenians are in life-threatening condition.

Zhirair Reissian, press secretary of Aleppo’s Berio Armenian Diocese, told ArmeniaNow that some got checked out after receiving first aid, others are under doctors’ supervision.

“No changes in the city, the armed clashes continue, with gunshots and explosions and unceasing human casualties,” says Reissian, adding that leaving Aleppo is challenging, too, that is why few people would take the risk.

The hostilities of the past two years in Syria, with its 80,000-member Armenian community, have taken more than a 100,000 lives, 50 among them Armenian.

Chief of Staff at the Diaspora Ministry Firdus Zakaryan, also leading the task force group managing Syrian-Armenians’ issues, told ArmeniaNow there are currently around 9,000 Syrian-Armenians in Armenia at the moment. Their inflow has stopped because of the blocked air and land communications.

Syria remains to be gravely challenged with unrest. There has been news recently that the authorities are using chemical weapon against the opposition. Days ago General Martin Dempsey, US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, reporting to the US Congress, outlined five options for U.S. military action in the Syrian conflict, according to which the United States can provide “a train, advise and assist mission”, which could raise opposition fighters’ capabilities but carries a risk that extremists could gain access to U.S. weapons; limited stand-off strikes, establishing a no-fly zone or buffer zones. The last, most complex option Dempsey outlined — controlling chemical weapons — would require a no-fly zone, air and missile strikes and thousands of troops on the ground.

Giro Manoyan, leading the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun’s Armenian Cause office in Yerevan, told ArmeniaNow that only Turkey and Qatar support the external extremist forces in Syria, others are trying to localize the issue one way or another and deter the forces that have come from the outside, however the Syrian people pay the price for all of it, and so are the Armenians living there.

“Armenia has to keep in touch as much as possible with all the key forces, so that should the need arise it could turn to one of them for the protection of Armenia’s interests – in this case the safety of the Armenian community of Syria, which I believe is more or less being done,” says Manoyan.
