Johannes
Foreign and Expatriates Ministry stressed that "In relation to the Turkish authorities which forced a Syrian civilian plane to land in Ankara Airport and searched it before allowing it to take off, there were no prohibited goods onboard. In a statement issued on Thursday, the Ministry said that the Syrian plane took off from Moscow Airport yesterday at 14:26 pm with a number of Syrian and Russian passengers onboard. After entering the Turkish air space, and at 17:20 pm, the Turkish authorities addressed the pilot to modify the GPS data and gave him illogical GPS that is different from the pre-set flight course. Then, suddenly and without warning, the pilot noticed that Turkish warplanes accompanied him and forced him to land in Ankara Airport. After landing, nobody approached the plane till two hours later. Passengers were asked to go to the waiting hall after which the Turkish security authorities subjected the plane to search and assaulted the plane crew, not to mention locking the contents of the plane for long hours, in addition to having reservations on some contents for inspection. The Syrian plane arrived in Damascus Airport today at dawn. Read for more here Edited October 11, 2012 by Johannes
MosJan
Russia says Syria plane carried radar parts, not ammo http://media.pn.am/media/issue/127/362/photo/127362.jpgOctober 12, 2012 - 20:20 AMTPanARMENIAN.Net - Russia's foreign minister said on Friday, October 12 that a Moscow-Damascus passenger airliner forced to land in Turkey over suspicions it had weapons on board was legally carrying Russian radar parts, RIA Novosti reported.Turkish F-16 fighter jets forced down the Syrian Air Airbus A320 some three hours after it had taken off from Moscow's Vnukovo international airport late on Wednesday. Turkey eventually permitted the A320 to resume its flight after a five-hour inspection of the aircraft that resulted in the seizure of a number of items."We have no secrets," Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told journalists after meeting President Vladimir Putin near Moscow. "There were, of course, no weapons on board and there could not have been."Lavrov also stressed the delivery was "entirely legal" and that Russia would demand both the return of the equipment and an explanation from Turkey. But he also said the "radar station equipment" was "dual purpose," meaning it could have both civilian and military applications.Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday the intercepted plane was carrying Russian-made military gear and ammunition destined for the Syrian military, but Syria’s Foreign Ministry said the jet had no weapons or illegal items on board. Moscow has repeatedly blocked international sanctions against the embattled regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad over what it says is a pro-rebel bias. Tens of thousands of people have killed been since the outbreak of civil war in Syria in March 2011, according to opposition groups.Russia has insisted that its ongoing arms deliveries to Syria are in accordance with international law. The videos show fighters inspecting lines of large missiles. Two Aleppo-based activists and Rami Abdul-Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, also say Jabhat al-Nusra fought in the battle. The base's capture is sure to fuel fears that Islamic extremists are playing a greater role after nearly 19 months of unrest in Syria.Western powers say their presence is a reason not to arm the rebels.Syrian opposition activists estimate more than 32,000 people have been killed since March 2011 when the uprising against President Bashar Assad's regime began. Johannes
Syrian Truth l Press Tv l US upset about Iran-Iraq-Syria alliance: Gordon Duff Oct 12,2012 A prominent military analyst says the United States is deeply concerned about the alliance among Iran, Iraq and Syria and their stand against Israel, Press TV reports. “There are deep concerns within the US that a coalition between Iran, Iraq and Syria will stand against Israel and Turkey which frankly is their long-serving surrogate since Ottoman times,” Gordon Duff said in an interview with Press TV on Friday. He further stressed that there needs to be a no-fly-zone over Turkey “since they seem to have difficulty following international convention.” Turkey has beefed up military defenses on its border with Syria over the past weeks, stationing tanks, anti-aircraft missiles, and additional troops in the area. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned on October 9 that Turkey’s armed forces would not hesitate to strike back in response to any strike on Turkish soil after the Turkish parliament authorized cross-border military action against Syria “when deemed right” On October 4. Tensions have been running high between Syria and Turkey, with Damascus accusing Turkey -- along with Saudi Arabia and Qatar -- of backing a deadly insurgency that has claimed the lives of many Syrians, including security and army personnel. Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011. Damascus says outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorists are the driving factors behind the unrest and deadly violence, but the opposition accuses the security forces of being behind the killings. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said in August that the country is engaged in a “crucial and heroic” battle that will determine the destiny of the nation. http://www.presstv.ir/detail/2012/10/12/266298/us-fears-iraniraqsyria-alliance/

Johannes
Foreign and Expatriates Ministry: EU New Sanctions Contradict International LawOct 17, 2012DAMASCUS, (SANA)_An official source at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said that ''In yet another move that proves the colonial mentality that some European countries insist on following in dealing with the events in Syria, the EU announced a new package of sanctions against Syria which target the livelihood of the Syrian people and various economic sectors that directly affect providing the basic needs for them.'' The source told SANA that the EU insistence on imposing unjustified economic sanctions has no legal or moral basis as they contradict the international law and depend on fabricated information that go against the EU claims of caring for the interests of the Syrian people, as the Syrian citizen is targeted in his livelihood and is turned into one receiving humanitarian aid. ''How can the EU justify its care for the wellbeing of the Syrians as it imposes sanctions targeting the sectors of energy, banks, transport and health, and prevent any the possibility of importing basic needs including the medical equipment and incurable diseases' drugs?,'' the source inquired. The source added that ''the policy of imposing sanctions on Syria is a new episode of the political, financial and media support provided by European countries to the armed terrorist groups which are targeting the Syrian state and people, and is a direct support to the parties interested in prolonging the crisis that the international community agreed unanimously on settling through national dialogue among the Syrians as to preserve the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria away from foreign interference.'' ''Syria affirms that such unilateral, unethical sanctions won't weaken the will of the Syrian people in preserving the dignity, stances and heritage of their country, and the Syrian government will do its duty to overcome these inhumane sanctions, '' the source concluded. Johannes
Syria #News #Syrian_Truth #freedom #syria #Revolution# Syrian Truth l globalresearch l “Living as a Christian in the Hell of Aleppo”: Besieged by Syrian “Opposition” Rebels. Testimony of a Priest By Agenzia Fides (Vatican News) Christians in Aleppo are victims of death and destruction due to the fighting which for months, has been affecting the city. The Christian neighborhoods, in recent times, have been hit by rebel forces fighting against the regular army and this has caused an exodus of civilians. This is what a Greek catholic priest in Aleppo says in a heartfelt message sent to Fides, and Fides prefers to guarantee anonymity for security reasons. The message, titled “Living as a Christian in the hell of Aleppo,” explains: “For a long time the Christians of Aleppo have been living in neighborhoods close to each other: Sulaymaniyah, Aziziyah, Villas, Telefon Hawaii, Al Jabiriyah, Al Maydan, Al Surian , Al Tilal. These areas are currently under the control of the regular Syrian army, while neighboring areas are occupied by the opposition army. That is why our neighborhoods are daily objects of bombings and shootings by snipers among the rebels. The bombings are sometimes blind, without a purpose, and this causes severe damage to homes, or innocent victims such as bystanders.” The priest gave Fides the lists of the latest victims in the community: “Our latest martyrs are Fadi Samir Haddad, Elias Abdel Nour, Nichan Vartanian, Vartan Karbedjian, Maria Fahmeh and the young Joëlle Fahmeh, all innocent victims.” He then goes on to explianing the damage to the structures: “the greek catholic Archbishopric in Tilal was severly damaged, injuring Fr.Imad Daher. The church of San Michele Arcangelo and an important monastery of nuns in Aziziyya were also damaged; a pastoral building of the greek-catholic community, called “The Hope” was hit, killing three people and causing dozens of casualties among the civilian population “. Even the convent of the Franciscan fathers in Sulaymaniyah was hit. Meanwhile, the text continues, “bombs continue to fall on the area of Almidan, of Armenian majority, launched by armed opposition groups which is located in Bustan el-Bacha: they have killed several people, injured so many and destroyed many houses “. Some groups in the rugged opposition, where there are also jiahadisti groups, “fire on Christian houses and buildings, to force occupants to escape and then take possession ” the text concludes. http://www.globalresearch.ca/living-as-a-christian-in-the-hell-of-aleppo-besieged-by-opposition-rebels-the-testimony-of-a-priest/5308882 Edited October 19, 2012 by Johannes

The Ministry declared that “supporting terrorism and arming the terrorists in Syria became overt that went so far as to urge others to get involved in this track which has been clear in the statements of officials in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.” “It has been clear to all that those who are behind targeting Syria are the same countries which stress the importance of devising the appropriate international mechanisms to combat terrorism with all possible means,” the Ministry added. It further accused these countries of contributing to hinder dialogue and peaceful solutions and harm the Syrian state at material and humanitarian levels.” In parallel, the ministry said that “these statements were proved to be true for the BBC reporter in Aleppo city who saw weapons shipments – owned by the Saudi army – diverted to the armed terrorist groups in the city, the piece of news was broadcast by the BBC on October 9th.” Moreover, Syria highlighted that “the French President Francois Hollande admitted in a statement to the French TV5Monde and France24 TV Channels on Thursday 11th October 2012 the existence of French terrorists in Syria among the ranks of the so-called “Free Syrian Army”.” “The Turkish government is responsible for harboring and training these terrorists on its territories to send them to Syria across its borders,” it added. Syria also reiterated its call for the UNSC and its relevant committees to start an immediate investigation in the dangerous information, stressing that it will provide the data available to the UNSC committees specialized with combating terrorism. http://www.globalresearch.ca/syria-evidence-of-foreign-countries-support-to-terrorists-letter-to-un-security-council/5308876

Yervant1
TURKEY WANTS TO GET RID OF SYRIAN ARMENIANS - EXPERT news.amOctober 23, 2012 | 14:10 YEREVAN. - Turkey wishes to get rid of the Armenians living innorthern Syria, Armenia's National Academy of Sciences Institute ofOrientology Director, turkologist Ruben Safrastyan stated during apress conference on Tuesday. According to him, such policy is an important part of official Ankara'sagenda. "The eradication of this community of the Armenian diasporahas always been an objective of Turkey. These objectives repeat the[syrian] rebels' statements in which anti-Armenian sentiments canalready be noticed," Safrastyan noted. He added that if the Turkish troops cross the Syrian border, thepotential peril that is threatening the Aleppo Armenians cannot beruled out because the city is a mere 50-60 kilometers away from theborder. "Such statements can also be to scare so that the Armeniansleave the region. Yervant1
IS SYRIA FAST-BECOMING TURKEY'S VIETNAM?By Appo Jabarian Executive Publisher/Managing EditorUSA Armenian Life Magazine The Turkish-promoted so-called Arab Spring in Syria has backfired onPrime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's Turkey. Each passing day furtherdrags Turkey deeper into the quick-sands of Syria. And Mr. Erdoganis not too happy about it. In Egypt's popular uprising, Turkey initially ignored the plightof the Egyptian people, and sided with Dictator Pres. HosniMubarak. Then Ankara switched sides. In Tunisia's uprising Turkeyremained undecided. In Libya, Ankara's fear of losing huge businesscontracts with Qaddafi's regime made PM Erdogan hesitant to takesides with the Libyan people exposing Turkey to widespread criticismand accusations of hypocrisy in the Arab media. Then, nearly eighteen months ago, the so-called Arab Spring wasexported to Syria. Hypnotized by success stories of the Arab Springs in North Africa, and embarrassed by his own flip-flopping, Turkey's Erdogan quicklyembraced a similar 'spring' in Syria. He miscalculated by hoping that the Syrian people would turn againsttheir own government. So he turned against his 'brother' PresidentBashar el-Assad, the ruler of Syria. Only a few weeks ago Erdogan had boasted, in reference to the fightingin the Syrian city of Aleppo, "I believe the Assad regime draws toits end with each passing day." However Syria and its people surprised Turkey and her allies triggeringdiscord, frustration and severe in-fighting among the partners -Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey, and among various opposition groups, unleashing deeply-rooted panic with Mr. Erdogan. He became so desperateto cover up his failure in Syria that he resorted to making falseclaims that a Turkish-grounded Syrian civilian airplane passingTurkey's airspace contained "equipment and munitions sent for theSyrian Defense Ministry from a Russian institution." Turkish international embarrassment over the Turkish Prime Minister'sfalse claims reached a boiling point whenU.S., Russian and Syrianofficials refuted Turkish premier's claims. Syrian Foreign Ministryspokesperson said, Erdogan "continues to lie in order to justify hisgovernment's hostile attitude towards Syria." Compounding Mr. Erdogan's problems is the fact that Turkey's proteges -the Syrian rebels have been suffering a chain of recent setbacks. The message from Paris and London is that the French and Britishkilled in Syria were not agents on a secret mission but fanatics whoacted on their own initiative. This is obviously false because certainof these jihadists were carrying communication instruments of NATOspecification, supplied by France and the United Kingdom. Whateverthe case, these events are marking the end of the Franco-Britishinvolvement alongside the Free Syrian Army, while Damascusdiscreetlyexchanges its prisoners. A page has been turned, wrote Thierry Meyssanof Voltaire Network. "Though the initial defeats suffered by the jihadists could have beenattributed to a tactical error or to an incompetent commander, afterthe sixth debacle another hypothesis must be considered: that NATO iswillingly sending these combatants to their deaths. ... The jihadistshave been left to their own devices, without any real coordination. They could be recruited by any number of actors, as the recentassassination of the U.S. Ambassador in Libya confirms. As a result,Washington wants to unload this risky and burdensome rabble or atthe very least reduce their number. The orders that NATO gives to thejihadists are designed to expose them to fire by the Syrian Arab Armywhich is eliminating them en masse," underlined Meyssan. "Under the circumstances, one can understand the frustration of Turkeyand the Wahhabist monarchies who at the request of the Allianceinvested in the secret war unreservedly, but who now must assumealone the failure of the operation. Going for broke, Ankara threwitself into a series of provocations designed to prevent NATO frompulling out. Anything goes, from firing of Turkish artillery intoSyrian territory to pirating of a civil airline," he concluded. The more the Syrian rebels' popularity in Aleppo sinks, the higherPrime Minister Erdogan's blood pressure rises. "As Aleppo continues to deteriorate, many residents are losing patiencewith an increasingly violent and unrecognizable opposition. It isn't just civilians who are tiring of the rebellion. Some whohave fought from the beginning have had their faith shaken as well,"Western media reported. "Arms supplies to Syrian rebels dry up amid rivalries and divisions. In Aleppo there is still no sign of the heavy weapons for which therebels have pleaded and ammunition is running low," stated anothernews outlet. In an effort to explain why Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan has gonehysterical over the defeats inflicted on the insurgents fightingagainst the Syrian government, Press TV quoted a Washington-basedauthor and historian Dr. Webster Griffin Tarpley who said on Saturday:"Erdogan was told repeatedly by Obama in their private telephoneconversations that the Syrian government would collapse like a houseof cards and he could then emerge as the hero of that regime change." In an interview with Press TV, James Jatras, former US Senate ForeignPolicy analyst, talked about Turkey's plans in Syria saying "it isvery unclear what Turkey's ultimate goal is in this really recklessdangerous and provocative behavior. We have seen not only a war ofwords but acts of war in form of aiding the terrorists in Syria, the stopping of this aircraft that was referred to earlier, thedispatch of fighter planes to the border with Syria, the artilleryduel that is going on with Syria, it seems that Turkey is behaving ina deliberately provocative and irresponsible way and no doubt it feelsit can do that because it has the backing of the United States and NATOand is prepared to invoke Article Five of the North Atlantic Treaty[NATO] if the Syrians respond. What is also troubling about this isthat everyone knows that this is very controversial inside Turkey, that many Turkish citizens are opposed to Mr. Erdogan's provocativeand dangerous policies. It is hard to see where this goes but it doesnot look like it is going any place good." While Turkey is vying to become a regional superpower, Erdogan'sappetite for hegemony in the Sunni world puts Turkey in a collisioncourse against Sunni Egyptian presidency and Saudi monarchy. Additionally, the Turkish state feels overwhelmed by the economic, political and possibly military fallout caused by its huge failurein Syria. The alternative is to simply acknowledge defeat, close downshop in Aleppo and elsewhere in Syria and go home. Otherwise Ankara faces the imminent danger of a Syrian brand ofVietnam-style protracted war that wrecks havoc on the home front -an insurmountable political liability no Turkish politician can afford. http://www.armenianlife.com/2012/10/17/is-syria-fast-becoming-turkey%E2%80%99s-vietnam/

MosJan
