Mr. O'Reilly brought in a frm. ambassador from Norway as a guest today and was analyzing the reasons why Norway is statistically considered the number #1 country to live in.

I can not quote his exact words but he said something of this sort: "So yeah Norway is a good country, you wouldn't want Turkish or Armenian people there."

How dare he defame our culture which is considered one of the most intellectual and sohphisticated cultures out there.

So are we going to take notice of what some twathead says?

I think the lesson for Armenians from this should be - don't think or act similarly. Racism cuts both ways. Sure, you can look down your noses at some other group - they are too dark, too drty, squabble so or whatever - but there are people who view you just the same - etc - not white enough - just another wog etc.

So we should all have a little more appreciation of others - don't concentrate on being negative about (percieved) differences - but understand that although people may have different ways (and some of these may on the surface seem unusual or even offensive to us) - accept this - they are people as we are - and we may have habits and such that annoy them (etc) and others as well - doesn't mean anyone is necessarily better then anyone else.

Fighting rascism with rascism - why would you want to do that? "Oh, the stupid Irish" You might think you are getting back at them, giving them a taste of their own medicine or showing them how it feels. But all you are doing is going down to the same level as thi(se) person and people like him, which is counter productive. And making yourself feel worse in the bargain. Feeling he is just a "stupid Irish" isn't actually going to do anything. It's just going to make people with this attitude feel better, and lump all Irish in the same category as HIM! (This is not true: almost every single Irish person I have met is lovely - but mabye it's different in the States becasue they think of and define themsleves as Irish and English, Wlsh, but in America I notice if you are a white immigrant you are called an "american" (This is what I thought when I saw the title "The o'Reilly factor" I imagined it would be complaining about Irish or something similar)

It doesn't even do anything for the Armenians or Turks or whatever(though you might imagine you are!) If you really want to get back at peole like this, carry on joining armenians forward themsleves, (probably breeding his own insecure feelings of jealousy anyway!) Remember people like this don't even know any better anyway. So all you have to do is just feel sorry for them and leave it at that.

Comments such as this O'reilly's are almost always based on ignorance and are much more of a reflection on the issuer of such then the subject.

Exactly. Don't you want to show you are better that that, instead of the same?

Kazza - you have quoted me I see - but are you talking to me (or the general audience etc) in your comments - if it is to me then I suggest you read what I was trying to say over again (as I understand and agree with the points you have made - andd these were some of my points as well - just said differently). If your comments are addressed to others and are meant to elaborate on what I said etc - then sorry - my misunderstanding....

O'Reilly has a Puritan mentality, though he's Catholic, and was brought up that way. I see that he cares about saving innoscence in our youth, but he's targeting the wrong country.

I personally haven't heard any talk about school discipline, but is it so extreme? How many children in the Soviet Union would insult, disrepect, shoot!!!, etc a teacher? This is what happens when people like Thomas Jefferson that lib influence innoscence.
