OBAMA LEADING MCCAIN BY 7 POINTS

The U.S. is holding presidential elections today, November 4. Two candidates, Illinois Senator, Democrat Barack Obama and Arizona Senator, Republican John McCain are running for the post. The last set of polls before election day show Barack Obama leading Arizona Sen. John McCain nationally by 7 points. An average of recent polls gives Obama a 51 percent to 44 percent lead over McCain. Obama is reported to have the votes of over 300 electors while McCain is supported by 181. Barack Obama, the first African American presidential candidate in U.S. history, is leading in 6 out of 8 battleground states.

:punk:

:) ;)

I have to mention this. I made a second attempt to vote and was succesful. While there, I was approached by an elderly Armenian couple (83 and 72 yrs old :o ). They had not voted since the Clinton elections, so they had forgotten exactly which building their voting location was in. They had walked about 10+ blocks to vote for the "Savakan". :)

I helped translate for them, and filled out their pink provisional ballot form. I had to step aside so that they could punch in their choice for Obama (they did not care to vote on the Props). Afterward, they thanked me and did not accept a ride back home.

The part that inspired this post is the statement the man made before we left the building. He told me that he wanted to make sure to come out and vote for the last time since he did not believe he would be alive for the next election. He said it was important that the "Sevakan" take office. The experince was bitter sweet. I hope he has a long healthy life so he can vote in at least two more elections. :)

What do you mean you made a second attempt to vote and was successful? You mean from the 2004 election?

(they did not care to vote on the Props)

I was wondering about this... do the votes count if one does not vote for everything on the ballot?

Wow, that is truly touching :)

I tried to vote around 8 a.m. but had to leave the line without voting to go to work. The line was not about halfway down the street, but for forty minutes it felt like it was not moving. I went back after noon and it took me only about 5-7 minutes to vote. And the another ten to help out the couple.

I am pretty sure that you can only opt to vote for the President, and/or the positions/ props of your choosing.

Yup. Very touching.

Did you guys watch/hear Obama's speech? He has a way with words; he is very inspiring. I loved the "YES WE CAN" repetition from the supporters. :)

I am just ecstatic. Today was a good day. I hope it is a indication of things to come. :)

And it came with such force that it turned your red state blue. :D

Yes, unfortunately... NV has become very urban with high levels of emigrantes... So the old libertarian values are slipping away... Plus, for many people here, the republican party has not been their party, but the lesser of two evils... So the more centerist the republican candidate is, the more chances the democrat one has...

de hima qani or menq :) Hayers Abamayin prezident enq darstrel :) tesnenq yerb e na ir xosqi ter@ darnalu

Shun@ hisheh payt@ qasheh. His bark may be sharper than his bite etc. and many other cliches,

It is not that Barack will invade furkey, but let us see how the world in general will react. Like what will happen in Iraq etc. Remember when Pres. Reagan was elected the Iranians released the hostages immediately withourt preconditions, that is a good example of one's barck being worse than one's bite. Will the Iraqis take charge of their country and destiny now that uncle Dicky wil not send billions and billions in welfare. Will the furks change their stance now that Barack's bark  is heard loud and clear?

One more thing. Not a new phenomenon, but we all know what "negative vote" means, it is when people vote not so much FOR candidate A but rather AGAINST candidate B. This last election was a perfect example when people voted to THROW THE BUM OUT, rather than ELECT the new guy IN, just so we would not have another 8 years of GWB's ghiost..

Finally. Things cannot get any worse than it has been for the past few years.

Speaking of "negative vote", look what the Armenians did, they voted against a most openly "denialist" candidate.
