Say No to alcohol!!!

Children with ADD (attention deficit disorder) are prescribed Methylphenidate (Ritalin), this works the same way as cocaine, blocking reuptake of dopamine at the same brain receptors. The only difference relates to dose and time course. However, medics declare that children who take long term Methylphenidate are less likely than others to abuse drugs during adolescence or early childhood. By the way they came to this conclusion based on the experiment on rats, because it was impossible to conduct research on children. How convenient for ADD treating doctors, the kid takes the pill, gets super active, and doctor gets paid for curing the poor kid who couldn’t pay attention before…

P.S. Domino...i take back "only" on dopamine...i put "mainly" :)

There was a study on chimps on that. Ritalin kills brain cells, and those who take it are more prone to suffer from a psychiatric condition, notably psychosis. It is true that they are less likelly to abuse drugs, simply because they are already dependent to a drug which they have been prescribed and saturate their receptors during treatment, so while on treatment they won't take anything else.

Some kids realy need the medication, but it is certainly overused, most often it is the idiot teacher who thinks she is a doctor who tell the parent about the med, who take t as a miracle drug. Which parent won't want it, when the teacher say that the drug will increase the kids concentration, but him/her more intelligent.

Many kids could do on fish oil and don't need such meds.

A glass of wine is a known factor that it is very beneficial for people with high cholesterol levels. It minimizes the risk of heart attack because the wine minimizes the thickening of the blood. It has been found that beer is also beneficial for health.

But when a woman is pregnant, she must stay away from both alcohol drinking and smoking. The hazards of both are detrimental to the fetus. I have known this a very long time ago and it's a fact.

  • 3 weeks later...

a few years back my teacher was telling me about her kids and that one of them has ADD

first two kids are gifted and very smart, but the third has ADD. the only thing she did differently is have 1 margarita (as far as i remember) which the doctor said was ok.

pregnant women should consider this....

Consuming alcohol is not a sin and like all things, when used in MODERATION can be enjoyable and safe- non-harmful.

BUT adults should know when to say "enough". Don't say no to alcohol. Say NO to being incapable of contolling yourself, say NO to succumbing to peer pressure (after a certain age it is not an excuse anymore), and say NO to making a fool of yourself in front of loved ones and complete strangers.

Don't mention sushi please. I'm staying away from the stuff for a while. As you said, EVERYTHING in moderation. :)
