Saying the Sun revolves around the Earth is just as valid as saying the Earth revolves around the Sun. However Mars and Venus clearly do not revolve around the Earth. Reading the right books also matters. Sure but I think once a person gets into the habit of reading and develops its skills, he/she will then pass on to read good books, though the most stupid book can teach one, even if it's not a great thing. Judging the value of a book require experience with different ''quality'' of books to build a hierarchy of value of the content of each books. So, you infact acquire knowledge at first, reading any sort of work. It is only then that you developpe the skills. A kid won't read Rousseau etc., it is not up to his level and you should not try forcing him/her to do it, you shorcut the natural process of the evolution of that kid. The only way right now we can detect planet presence around other starts is by measuring this revolution of the stars turning around their planets. Those religious fanatics on the middle ages weren't entirly wrong. Exactly, it leads to a red-shift or a blue-shift in the spectrum emitted by that type of stars. Since the molecular composition of the star can be determined by its size and other factors, the unshifted spectrum is well known; hence from the observed spectrum one calculates the red or blue shift extent, and hence the mass of the nearby planet(s).
