It's some sort of a church choir, definately Russian Armenian (meaning Eastern Armenian). Perhaps it's Tourian's picture when he was an Archbishop in Smirna (Izmir) before he came to the Americas? And if that's the case then this picture is before September 1922; because that's when the turks annihilated practically all of Smirna's Armenians. Aubépine Posted March 14, 2007 Report Share Posted March 14, 2007 I can’t profess to know about Armenians or Armenian communities in general, but it seems to be a place where there is a diverse émigré community looking at the picture. They all look pretty different to me. The woman third from the left in the picture looks British. It could be somewhere in the Levant (I have Egypt in mind) or could be one of those trading outposts farther a field. Is there a hint in the picture?
