vava
Check this out... I never thought I would see Figure skating to Armenian music. If i'm not mistaken, part (or perhaps all) of the music selction is from the sountrack to Ararat. Jeff Buttle - Free Skate Video to Armenian Music I wonder how he came about his choice. It was obviously successful - but he didn't magically turn Armenian did he?

nairi
Ah, I finally got to see it. The other link didn't work for me. Nice! But he'll have to be prepared for the World's in March. The European men are jumping quads, and god knows what the Asians are going to come up with. Too bad Plushenko is not competing. I truly missed him this year. Perhaps the first time in years that not a single Russian is going to win a medal, except in Ice Dancing. The Armenian Ice Dancers came in 14th this year. Three places below last year. Julia Sebestyen for Hungary (with an Armenian coach) is back up for the ladies and a potential contender for bronze at the Europeans. Meanwhile Elene Gedevanishvili from Georgia has truly proven herself to be a natural. Anyway, last year Buttle skated to Khachaturian's Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia. Watch out for more Armenian music and coaches during the World's.

Apart from olympic competitions, I don't think I've ever watched/followed any figure skating at all...
Armenak
Thanks Vava and Fadix. I think Sasha Cohen has skated to Armenian music as well.

Apart from olympic competitions, I don't think I've ever watched/followed any figure skating at all... I've opened a thread every year. It's my favorite sport, even if I still can't always tell one jump from another (axle, salchow, lutz, etc.).

Takoush
cool...why do things like this make us so happy??????????????? Because it's part of our culture; and as great as our culture is, it is not known much throughout the world, like the Italian, the French, the German or the Greek cultures. When something like this happens once in a while it flatters our ego, it makes us feel proud and good. nairi
Who names these things, anyway? Those who invent them. Do you skate yourself? Nope.

nairi
The World Championships have begun this week. Buttle will be on with his long program on Thursday.
nairi
Buttle went down to 6th place after the long program. He fell a few times and lacked the passion I felt he had in Canada. But, I already warned that he would have to jump at least one quad if he wanted to be anywhere near the medals. He tried a quad, but fell. Next in line: keep your eyes out for Mao Asada (ladies), who is also coached by Arutunian and does stand a chance at the title.
