Places To Go On A Date?

Emil

Recommended Posts

I'd like some recommendations on places where you guys/girls like to go on dates. The movie/dinner thing is getting to be boring. Walking around Citywalk isn't fun, the Santa Monica Pier is full of gangster wannabes. Had dinner at The Charthouse last night, was at a loss what to do afterwards. You can go so many times to a Starbucks type place before you get sick of it.

Suggestions?

gym, pool, picknick at a lake or river, diving, hicking, tennis, swiming, interesting play at a local theather (avoid student performances - too amaturish), book reviews, check also major hotel chains usually offer interesting programs at the lobby - jazz nights, swing, etc.. plus they are not that expensive. Check out also the ticket master for local concerts and sport games. Edited by gamavor

For a longer date (one day), take a drive to Big Bear or Arrowhead. You can also drive up the coast towards Santa Barbara. One of my favorite drives is along the 78 from the I-5 into the Anza Borrego area. But this assumes you both kind of enjoy driving and the $$$$ needed for gas is not a huge issue.

You can never go wrong with hitting the beach ... just take a couple of blankets and sleeping bags and head over to Zuma. When you get to Zuma, the part behind the hill (east of the actual beach) is excellent and you can park there till midnight. Otherwise you can just park along PCH and walk over to the beach. I've spent many nights there and it can be a great place to create a bit of intimacy with your special someone (plus it's free!).

Some nights you can just go walk around the UCLA campus ... maybe get something to eat around westwood. There's a great cookie place accross the street from BJ's.

One day you guys may want to go hit up the Ghetto Center (aka Getty Center).

I could through out some more ideas maybe but it really depends on what you both like. If you're not both much into driving I probably won't be of much help.

Write a song together.

Take an art class together.

Give each other a manicure.

Study the Gospel together.

Walk down a busy road eating M & M's and wave at the cars that are the same color as the M & M you just ate.

Haven't had any complaints so far :) But yah I am not married if that is what "single" means.

By the way, as far as hitting the beach, having an SUV with a folding back seat and a tail gate is a HUGE advantage in this case. Emil, I'm not sure if the back of yours flattens out but if it does, then don't be shy to use it! It's much better than any back seat! ;)

I know this is not particularly good for dating. But recently I thought that it would be a great idea to take some complicated cooking class together. Also learning a foreign language is fun, we are now learning Italian for our big trip. But I don't think it's a good idea to do any of these with someone you are just starting to date.

Go to Las Vegas and gamble together, that's a thrill. And I am a sucker for action parks (Coney Island here), a juicy sausage and pepper sandwich and some non-rollercoaster rides. Not long ago I went to play miniature golf and I did some batting in the batting cages, it was so much fun! We also have tennis courts all over the place, I love playing tennis. Pool and bowling is a blast, although I personally prefer pool over bowling, the ball gets too heavy after a while.

I really liked the brunch at a jazz joint and bowling after, it a was fun packed day. Ooooh, art museum or a natural history museum any day. Love the aquarium too. Ok, sorry this is not about me. :P

Go to museums together, to auctions, antique outlets, maybe banji jumping? :P jog together, bicycling in duo, go by the see and gaze lovingly at each other's eye until you can't stand it anymore, read love poems to each other on Sunday mornings, write love notes to each other every time you see each other, etc. etc. :) Edited by Anahid Takouhi
