I can’t find the English text yet. In a nutshell; Pope Benedict XVI has confided to the British Financial Times the opinion of European conservative parties, something that will cast a long shadow on Turkey’s hopes to join the Union. Addressing some 500 political activists He has called on Europe to preserve her Christian heritage. Will someone remind that Nazi turned Pope that it was his own Kaiser Germany in 1915 and his Nazi brothers in 1939 were the sole sponsors of equally kaiseric and Nazi Turkey preventin the Allied plans of reducing Asia Minor to its original native components, Armenia, Kurdistan and others. Does He know that, as Pope he will be as successful (not) to stem the tide of yet another Ottoman invasion of Vienna, and will “in a Christian spirit” stand aside, just as his predecessors did when Turkey was slaughtering its Christian population? Maybe, in another decade or so His Holiness will understand when those same Turks slaughter His Catholic Flock in Vatican and Rome. Do you think that some day His Hloiness and others will realize that Turks do not come with the "Cross" but rattling the "sword" of muhaaamanamanammeddd, whatever! And, do you think, in the words of that great philosopher Evita, we're gonna "Cry For You (Ar)Germantina"! gamavor
What goes around comes around. In other words I care for Europe as much as they care for Armenia. Since their "caring" index is close to zero the feeling is mutual. If tomorrow Moslems bomb Europe or Turks start raping European girls, I would just say that sh*t happens and history should be left to historians. I was reading a fashion magazine the other day and one of the exhibits were golden necklace depicting a dual headed eagle. The advertisement at the bottom of the picture read: From Cradle of Civilization - Asia Minor (this part was OK) - Seljuk Turks' Art from 13 century (here I was about to vomit). SINCE WHEN THE EAGLE IS A SELDJUK TURKS SYMBOL MOTHER F*****S???

arshakuni
Guys, guys, Europe knows what is good for it ad Europe needs Turkey for it's future. This Christian-Muslim talk is an absolute bullshit;both in Europe and in Turkey religion plays a very little role in politics and progressive people realize that the future not only for Europe but for the whole world is in cooperation that will guarantee peace and development for all. Apart from that, you completely misunderstood the Pope, because in that statement he speaks for Christian unity and values. What's your fuss about? SINCE WHEN THE EAGLE IS A SELDJUK TURKS SYMBOL MOTHER F*****S??? This reminds me of how the Turks reduced the khatchkars to the "anchor stones" of Noah's ark. But of course, this is the Turks' own internal propaganda-- one that is viewed mainly by tourists. I see a lot of what Gams sees-- people giving Turkey credit that she doesn't deserve. Zartonk
This is what happens when a people are almost eradicated along with their heritage and contribution and not a peep is heard from the on-lookers. As for Evrope, is isn't so much about preserving her Christianity, but preventing the massive growth of a new wave of migratory Islam into her secular ways. So in away, I see where Ratzinger is coming from. It is defense more then it is unity.

Aubépine
They used it to legitimise their rule over Anatolia. What better way to do that than to use the same symbol as the Byzantines and call themeselves the "Sultan-ı Rum" "Empire of the Romans" just like the Byzantines did. Arpa
stole? I did not know, Eagles were properties of byzantium. Has anyone heard of the "aquiline" nose of Haik? Aquiline means eagle-like. Where were the Seljuks when Haik the Eagle ruled?!! They renamed Constantinople Istanbul. None of our business? They renamed Sebastia/Sevastia as Sivas. Note the interchangeability of V to B as in Vahram/Bagram. They changed Aghori Ler to Ahri Dagh. In this age of CNN, with all the documentations, dare they change Ani to Ana (“mother “ in their MF language)?? , I don‘t mean to give them any ideas?? That were ottomans, and anadolu selcuks. Not Big Selcuk Empire, the one used eagle is mainly ruled at iran, not anatolia. Arpa It is well known, selcuks took eagle from byzantium, but true word is adapt, not steal. Listen turkish bocluk, we can't change history but we can make one. Specially for you! Go back to Mongolia, MORON! should I afraid from mighty armenian soldiers? well no, armenians will not do turks anything. Even If armenians win a war(and this is not much popular idea about a turkish-armenian war), they will mostly take kurdish lands. Sorry but, and middle two turkish cities have more population than your ROA. Yes!!! No. Edited April 7, 2006 by zurderer
gamavor
should I afraid from mighty armenian soldiers? Of course not. We are human, remember? You should be afraid of the deactivation of cesium! That were ottomans, and anadolu selcuks. Not Big Selcuk Empire, the one used eagle is mainly ruled at iran, not anatolia. Arpa It is well known, selcuks took eagle from byzantium, but true word is adapt, not steal. Either way, the ad in the magazine that I was reading doesn't say "ADAPTED" Seldjuk Turks eagle. Hence, it is a LIE! The only truly turkic symbols are the Lizard and later the Wolf. Both representing your homeland - Central Asia. Even If armenians win a war(and this is not much popular idea about a turkish-armenian war), they will mostly take kurdish lands. Briliant. Just one correction. Whatever we take all the way to Cappadokia and to the north the Black Sea is ARMENIAN. The kurds repopulated the area in mass after the Genocide. Kurdistan is located in the South East of Turkey, the Northern part of Iraq, small parts of today's Iran and Syria. This is Kurdistan. Capish? skhara
Actually gams, there is no Kurdistan. There never was a Kurdistan. If you take a map and put your finger on Shiraz Iran, than draw a 45 degree trajectory in the northwest direction, that is how the Kurds "flowed". Anonymouse
Europe is a lost cause. My rant deviates a bit but still relevant. When civilizations and nations forget the value of blood and kin, they begin their march down toward destruction, decadence, and oblivion to be nothing more than topics in history books. France is the first nation that has lost its sense of nation and blood and is now a breeding ground for the mixed offspring of French and Arabs creating a thorough melange with a Muslim majority. Britain closely follows suit. So with it, Christianity will go down the tubes. I read a report that so far this year, it is the first year in which the majority of the births in France have been to Muslims. It is typical of the enervated European in its prurient lifestyle to not even care about breeding, not simply to grow, but at least to sustain current numbers. Sadly, Armenia is not exempt from these tides of history, and people who forget their sense of nationhood and blood are doomed. Truth is stranger than fiction. Europe is just fine, you don't worry about it . NAtions have been travelling and mixing throughout the history and I don't think that the immigrants to Europe are a threat to their host countries security. Mainly, iit's exactly the opposite -they work hard, harder than the locals, get paid less and keep the European erconomy competible on the world market. France hasn't lost it's national identity, if you had ever been to France you would have never said that. They had their shortcomings in their ethnic policies, but that can be improved. And what is this hatrage towards Islam? You guys watch too much TV.Arabs and Muslims in general are people like anyone else, not some animals who want to kill everyone around them. There are fanatics who take their religion to extremes, but do not forget that us Christians were the first to go to their lands in Middle ages, robe, lute and rape under the name of Christianity and with Pop's blessing. Europe has been, is and will be the centre of world civilization thanks to it's opennness and flexibility,it's multiculturalism and freedom. We have to understand that that is the way forward and we're not gonna get anywhere with our "All Turks and Muslims are bad" slogans. Future and the wellbeing of our nation is not in wars and reclaiming lands that we cannot populate, but in building a safe, prosperous country that people at least won't desperately want to leave,

Azat
our = Armenian Youth they're all around you. percentage wise Christian Armenian youth has increased dramatically since 1980 due to the colapse of atheist soviet empire. so based on that i would say morality has declined as christianity has increased. no?
