vava
I know nothing about this - up here it's all government controlled. But it sounds like a fabulous idea - you could also cater to high end buyers as well, doing private importations etc. Seems to me that it could be very profitable... but that's a very un-informed guess. Takoush
And since you love wine, vodka and plain drinking what could be better than getting in that line of work, Azat jan? Plus you don't have to put up with lousy higher ups, whether there are enough jobs or not and or your lazy or incapable employees. You just have to put up with clientele, that's all. Like Vava says, I don't know anything about it myself; but I think she may be right, you may make very good profits by catering and or exporting and importing, then later on you could either buy more stores or get into import/export business, which can be even greater income potential for you. Go for it pal. Before you go for it though, do a great deal of investigation about this line of work. If you didn't already, start right away; I would even suggest to go and work for a good winery business or a store. Just to see how the whole thing works. Be also aware that you have to be careful when working with the public, I mean hoodlums and so forth that may want your money. You may look into it that perhaps you should be armed and be very close to with the police station, having a buzzer ring or something. I am just letting you know that there are very good customers and yet the other extreme too. I am sure you know, but I am reminding you pal. Takoush
I must add that although I have never owned a store; however my uncle and all my four cousins are store owners, and they each own several stores. My uncle talked about his business extensively to me; especially when for six months once I have helped him with his business. Azat
the idea is to have a small store and sell different 'cult' wines. not the kind you find in regular stores. small, maybe 60-70 varieties max. collect customer info and start to have monthly wine tastings. we'll see... Azat
Anahid just to correct the misconseption. i do not drink vodka or beer or just plain alcohol. never drink alone. 6 packs of beer lasts 6-12 months. i do love wine in social occasions with friends and family, but even at that we may consume 2-3 bottles a month max. i talk big but drink like a baby eve, if you read this. there was a store in ny that had the great concept. the store was very bright, had no shelves, just holes in the plastic walls which were back lit and bottles were stored in thos holes and on tge wall there were little stands that woukd hold a wine bottle for display. the wine was arranged from simple to complex. mostly for the layman. would you by any chance know the name? Anileve
Azatyushkin, I can't believe my eyes! Are you finally going to materialize your dream?!!! I really hope that you will follow through with the idea, it sounds like it has a lot of potential. It's about time you start taking risks. This may sound like an immature suggestion, but why not speak to a wine store owner? Some are very happy to give tips and advice on starting your own business. And considering your engaging and personable nature I am certain that they'll will warm up to you almost immediately.

Anileve
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA???!?!!!! What????!!!! Tell me you are kidding! Please please. Azat jan, there are so many wine stores and I am hardly an expert. I don't know of such store. However there are a few places that have the same concept of holes in wooden walls with holes and mainly wines that they specifically select based on a preference. Those are usually husband & wife shops or some very intimate spots, rather than the large kind. Edited March 5, 2006 by Anileve
Takoush
Sorry pal; you've talked on many occasions in the past about drinking, so I thought that you drink on a regular bais. I should've known better as I know you are a jester. However; like I said before, I would look into it. Best of luck. Sorry about the news Azat jan; but I am sure this could end up being a good thing for you. Edited March 5, 2006 by Anahid Takouhi

ED
Azat, if I'm not mistaking, alcohol lisence would cost you at list 70-80K, this is in LA city limits, i assume it would be much more in Glendale or any other city. just a thought, it would be a good business to include verity of cheese also
Arpa
Another gem by Kamar Katiba/Raphael Patkanian.

I want to attract the gay and yuppie crown. Most likely hip part of Hollywood or west Hollywood. alcohol licence is anywhere from 40-100K in so cal. However that is for a place where they server hard alcohol. just selling wine and beer is it around 3k oh yes and I was thinking about artisan cheese Edited March 5, 2006 by Azat
