It was the day my little brother called me to tell me he had successfuly filed my PhD thesis at UCLA, got it approved by the library and the graduate division (must be done on the same day), and had the certificate of completion in his hand.

I had a couple of exhilirating experiences, I am not sure which one was more important. Meeting my parents after a long time, each time I heard the news of being admitted to a university, landing in this country, just a few days ago accomplishing a very tough assignment that had made me sleepless for 10 days, etc..

Thank you Sip and Sasun also for sharing! :)

I knew you guys were brilliant, but I didn't know you already hold your PhD doctorate degrees. But I shouldn't be surprised, really! I feel I should be honored to have cyber conversed with you guys! :)

Just a correction, I didn't say I have a PhD degree though you are right about the brilliancy part :P

To be perfectly honest with you; most of you guys are brilliant! :)

There's great many very intelligent conversations going around here; so yes almost all of you are quite brilliant! :)

Well of course the birth of our children are the highlights of our lives

... there are so many ohter experiences which have shaped and formed and directed my life...it would be difficult to just name one...

Interesting thread...quite thought provoking,I'll see if I can narrow it down after a couple glasses of wine tonight ;)

and Azat... :lol2:

You know it really is difficult to pinpoint one experience...there are good ones, bad ones, illness',hard times, happy times, boring days, dry stretches in our lives...they all make an imprint on our lives, they all shape our lives, they all direct and redirect our lives....

so I guess the good ol' generic answer is...

the birth of my children :D

What is the most exhilarating experience in your life?

Opening the big package from USC with huge letters forming "You're In" on the folder. I had been accepted as a piano performance major. It's very competitive to get in. I finally realized that my education is okey, it's not as behind as I had thought, having lived in so many different countries.

Yeah you're right Maral; but I had to put something that looked sort of respectable, you see? :D

By the way, thanks to you and Anoushik for your answers and sharing. :) Ed and I share your exhilarating moments. Oh well in your case it was three moments!!! :P

And Anoushik; Good for you, yes it is a great thing to have. I have known an Armenian woman also from Armenia who married a friend of mine in Montreal, Quebec and she is gifted in piano teaching and she teaches piano to children or whomever from home and she makes very good bucks. She happens to be an extremely smart woman like you guys/gals. :)

I think the most exhilirating experience in Azat's life was when he traveled all the way to Green Bay to go to a packer game against the bears and was witness to the WORST game they have ever played :lol2: :lol2:

... Sorry Azat I just had to get that in!

As far as PhD and brilliance ... I don't know if those two are necessarily correlated. PhD usually indicates depth of knowledge in a very very specific domain. In many cases, it might also indicate a certain disciplined mind that may be able to communicate better than average. But all that really says usually is that someone stayed at school for at least a decade after highschool :D

The most… I think when, many many years ago, after a sleepless night of reading (and almost 11 years of being the top student at school with the best grades), next morning I passed the interview and was granted full scholarship to a university in China, for bachelor’s degree program. It was during winter, and throughout the whole thing I had NO feelings. why I say so? Because as soon as my name was pronounced, I screamed(as others say, cause I don’t remember), then, all of a sudden I started feeling HUNGRY, EXHAUSTED, NEEDED TO GO TO THE TOILET, WAS FROSEN etc! all in once! in short, my feelings were back, and that’s when I realized, that I hadn’t felt anything for a loooong time.

Another exciting moment I can think now about, when I was asked from the 2 offices of the UN HQ in Geneva, I had sent my profile to, to work for them: I thought I’d never be accepted, but both of them wanted me!!!! and the experience I had, was very very nice: till now I think it was a dream.

The other recent one, is when I got my LLM, and I HAD MY HUSBAND NEXT TO ME!!!!!!!!!!! u can’t imagine how happy I was!!!! And I really felt that I have done very well in life: not only got a diploma, but also a very handsome, nice, young, grate-looking, crazy-in-love-with-ME husband!

Now, I hope when I get my PhD, not only to have my hubby next to me, but also a cute little doll: a daughter. THIS would definitely be another great exciting moment, and probably the best one for ever! no, wait! the best one for ever would be getting my palace on the island i have always been dreaming about

;)

Sipan jan:

The main reason for saying to you and Sasun and others on the Forum brilliant was for the extremely intelligent and the knowledgeble conversations that goes on on here. Although your doctorate degree adds to it; but I'm mostly impressed for your extensive and intense knowlege about mathematics, logic, cars, etc. You are extremely intelligent and smart. The very same with Sasun, Domino, Vava, Edward, Zartonk, Gamavor, Vanetsi, Movses, Harout, Azat, Anoushik, Maral, Amy, yes Arpa too. You guys and gals kept having extremely intelligent conversations here. How can I not but think of you people to be brilliant? I simply do because it's the facts.

Anahit, you seem to be a very driven and successful person. Were you living in Armenia prior to being granted the full scholarship to China?

Yes Anahit; you seem to be accomplished.

I keep having these dreams that one day I'm going to hit real big and perhaps then we'll visit each other's islands. :)
