Exactly and vice vera!!! So what makes their realization so much better than mine?

 

When you say "elders at my church", you have to realize that you are already talking to a very biased bunch of people. So forming any opinion based on what they say, might be quite biased if you don't talk to other people with other views. I think it is at least promising to see you talking to other people outside of your church.

 

I never said their realization is better then yours, but you cannot use your age/experience as a reason because of it.

 

I talk to people from all kinds of religions on a daily basis...

In Greek this subject would be known as Thanatology, the science of death and dying. The reason why they had to invent names like Athanas to mean immortal. In Armenian we have a slightly modified version Anastas as in Anastas Mikoyan, yet , again in Armenian "mard" as in (hu)man simply means "mortal" just a "human" means "from humus", soil. I loved it Anonymouse; I am supposed to read the book in which I have read only 4-5 pages of it; then I got busy with my studies. This truly enthuses me now to read it through as soon as I am through with my studies the end of the semester. How philosophical a masterpiece.

I was shockingly surprised today seeing a Zoroastrian parade in New York City. They were dancing on trucks and apparently celebrating something (I wonder what). Too bad I could not hang out with them because I was driving. I never knew there were Zoroastrians in the US.

But I searched the forum and found your post last year about this:

 

The Armenian New Year is Navasard, which in fact means Nav/Nau=New and Sard=Year (it is in August. I can expand on it) while Nauruz means New Day.

In the Armenian "ruz" appears as "roj/rojik" which has evolved to mean "daily supply/provision" as in the soldiers' rations or the travellers' provisions. We have spoken about that too, please search)

The other not so good aspect of the story is the confusing native traditons with aryan/ism. Please search and find one of my posts, probably in the "culture" section titled "Aryan Aryun" (Aryan Blood) .

If I am allowed one question..

Why are you so defensive about our present faith?

Did Jehovah assign you as our “redeemer”?

Was Jesus Armenian?

Did WE invent that cult of Jesus?

Once again, chimpanzees have no religion, humans do. That one extra brain cell that separates us from our “closest cousins” compels us to think, try and come up with answers as to who we are, why are we here….hence, religion.

This last new fangled “Jesus Cult” may have lasted for 1700+ years. For how long, before that did we worship Aramazt, Vahakn and Anhit, Zoroaster and Mazte?

All they are doing is searching for a "raison d'etre" for our existence just as you and I. Are they preaching anything different from all that so called, mythologically speaking, are they saying anything different from that Christian mythological gobbledygook of virgin birth, resurrection, ascension to heaven and sitting at the RIGHT (correct) side of God?

Can you guarantee us that this “Jesus Cult” is our last and definitive religion?

Probably not. As you can see at the site you posted, over 30% of Armenians profess to be “pagans”. That interprets over one million only if we consider the inhabitants of Yerevan Province. Ad another couple of millions to that who live outside of the region.
