and from this picture it's obvious we shouldn't change a thing (except maybe us relocating there).

From this pictures it is clear to me that Yerevan (in its entirety) needs to be bulldozed and rebuilt. Such awful architecture,  :disgusted: . Can't wait to see how the Northern Avenue project turns out.

Armen, I think I know him too. Can't remember his name. Did he have an affair with a young instructor? :P

Gams, you're becoming a real Texan. Be careful no to do that with a Bulgarian or, God forbid, with an Armenian or you will spend your time and money in hospitals :)

Come on, Shaunt! There is some beautiful old architecture in Yerevan, which is slowly being destroyed. It is the Soviet architecture from the 40s to the 60s that is so ugly. What do you want to see Yerevan become, carbon copy of an American city?

Old architecture, yes. But beautiful? I think not. Beautiful is the medieval architecture of European cities. And I agree, Soviet architecture is distasteful. Just look what they did to Konigsberg.

Also, I don't want to see Yerevan become an American city, I just want to see those shacks torn asunder and replaced with modern buildings. Although I would love to see the suburbs of Yerevan be constructed on the model of Westwood and Brentwood (in Los Angeles).

Amen! :naughty:

Beer + coca cola = modernity

style_images/master/snapback.png

In Belgium they call it MAZUT! :) Indeed the combination of Coca-Cola and Beer has the same color as mazut, and in Belgium (and not only :) ) is very popular dring for after hours, especially if you have had a little bit too much. Beer is used as a 'vehicle' for easy penetration in the blood while Coca provides the nesessary boost to be able to go back home. :)

Ahh. Information I could have used a year and a half ago!

By the way Gams, I didn't get a chance to look at the photos before. I'm glad this thread got bumped cause I looked at those photos you linked and they were terriffic. It makes want to just drop all the sh*t, grab my digital camera, and go. Stupid work and responsibilities. :(
