Yeah - just noticed that - too bad - been routing hard for him..still a very good show and good for "Armenian tennis" with Agassi (perhaps) on the wane from a run of very many good/great years...
-
wrong...we're talking the real stuff (no additives whatsoever) - aged 12 years - with wonderful flavor (sure can't overuse...)...with virgin Olive oil, perhaps a bit of strong mustard, ground black pepper...yum yum! (don't know what your missing...)
-
Hm - well I make a wicked (fresh) pomegranate & balsamic salad dressing...
-
well Ok - perhaps I could agree with that...
-
yes, and your point?

We are traveling to Europe and take an extended tour! (Germany, Austria, France & who knows where else...)... we will pick up our new car in Munich(oh & Accel - looks like I'll be doing some lap time at Nurburgring!!!! ....in our new M spec 3!! ) ...then later this summer we are planning to spend some time at the seashore up in Maine (this time without the kids!!! ) ...hows that?

And another (and I will argue that this one is certainly even on-topic)... No World Order 1.1 Composer: Todd Rundgren Let me tell you 'bout the new world order Not the kind to make you run for the border It's a new religion wrapped in a revolution With a proven solution for your mental pollution Cars and gold bars and chains and diamond rings These are the symbols, we want the real things Peace in the soul and a natural insight Things that please the mind and make the body feel right Don't let no one tell you that god ain't got a sense of humor Someone said he's pissed off, but that was just a rumor I know he's laughin' when the preacher starts to scream about How trippin' is evil, and sex is unclean Nature wants your life to go on long and on strong To have children and show them where you went wrong So if your life style leads you into hell or into prison Wake up and listen, this is what you're missing Free will, we can't seem to get our fill We are beggers, we are choosers drunk on a lack of power I believe in understanding, I've got to know where we're landing I'm takin' my survey now, hands up if you're with me Do you want different choices? Can't hear the quiet voices Got to dim all the lights, turn down the volume Put on a little more forgiveness, who's gonna be my witness? If we must endure this trial, someone is bound to touch us Do you want more sex, more comforting A little more foreplay and afterglow, let my people go Everybody wants peace on the earth, children sheltering Calling every man, every woman We're gonna take control of our own bodies Peace breaks out in the battle of the sexes We start to learn what the other one expects is We stay away from what the other one rejects is And have respect for individual perspectives We're gonna break out of this cycle of dependency And liberate each other from a hopeless life of drudgery And face up to the truth as we dispel all of this secrecy And simplify the situation when we learn to speak plainly We're gonna take control of the machinery Bad little actors that chew up the scenery Job number one is gonna be findin' a way That we can rave all night and meditate all day Mankind's strugglin' hard to see the light To hear the voice of the spirit in the night To lay down his heavy burden and pick up his soul power And build a heaven on earth hour by hour by hour Child protection, more careful mate selection Everyone wants to be wanted by a natural father and mother Lookin' for a sense of wonder, don't let your faith go under This is a beautiful world, if we could only give up fighting The answer is surrender, every race, every gender Beat our swords into plowshares on the anvil of a pure heart We gotta have honest answers and the courage to take our chances Opportunity's knockin' loud, give me your attention

no problem..so you liked that? Well here is another form the same album - "No World Order" - (highly recommended BTW) Fascist Christ 1.0 Composer: Todd Rundgren Founding fathers and mothers left us a mandate We've got to separate the church and the state So get your head straight before it's too late And you drop it in the plate, you must appreciate Jesus and money make a man speak in tongues Scream out his lungs, roll in the dung And when the song is sung, he moves up another rung And the deaf and the dumb are the ones who get stung Here comes the sex police, they're at your bedroom door Movin' in next door, searchin' from floor to floor You know what they're lookin' for Someone's always keepin' score every time you dip the oar Love isn't fun no more Fascist christ, come to the rescue Gimme that old time religion, here it comes Let's get fundamental about this strange philosophy In which god and man are enemies In which there is no serenity unless you happen to believe Precisely what they want you to believe, and no diversity Come join the army and learn the noises That drown out the others' voices and please the devil Who rejoices when mankind has no choices And power exploits us, and peace avoids us Guess who to the rescue on a holy mission To uphold the tradition of the Spanish Inquisition And preempt your decision by forcing your confession Now let that be a lesson Who do you think you're messin' with? Somebody took our god away

For you Anoushik: Property 1.0 Composer: Todd Rundgren I'll be your fantasy, but I won't be your property Love you eternally, but I'll never be your property Love from me's not guaranteed Just because you think I'm property I can love you totally and still not be your property Every girl and boy wants to grow up to be loved someday And you can't wait to give your heart away But it's like worship in their eyes walking down the aisle When you slip on that ring, they start to treat you like a thing, yeah I call it slavery when you call someone your property Don't waste your vanity, I will never be your property Something wonderful happens when people fall in love Your happiness is all they're thinking of But it's like "anything you say" 'til the wedding day When they get it in ink, they start to tell you what to think, yeah Darkest day in history when someone invented property Cause of our misery is the constant lust for property Since god began it, we've been dividing up the planet When you see something you want it You've got to put your name tag on it And we go on carving, meanwhile half the world is starving It's a crime .. hands off what is mine! Take all you can 'til you slam on the parking brake And you need space to make your own mistakes But it's like "I won't hold you back" 'til the bags are packed Then they're struttin' about like they own you inside out I call it slavery (you can't make me a slave), when you call someone your property Don't waste your vanity (don't be so vain), I will never be your property Darkest day in history (why did you have to do a thing like that) when someone invented property Cause of our misery (misery, misery) is the constant lust for property

schmooze is like kiss up to...in a sense...but be friendly is the thing..be personal - get them to know you...I always did - and often before I would ever take their classes - picking your profs is important business (where possible)...(again I got some sotries...but I will save them for now...) But yeah - don't worry at all where others are "at" - it makes no difference - its your life...live it according to your own rules & expectations...I think your doing well...
-
Sounds like a small school Anka..French & Economics..same prof! Reminds me of an Economics course I took - "Theory of the Leiesure Class" - based on the writings of Thorstein Veblin (If you don't know him you should look him up - brilliant guy...in his lax sort of way... ..sorry i probably spelled his name wrong...)..anyway I worte this paper making the case for why the dishwashing job that I had at the time was likely the best job I would ever have in my lfe...it had to do with being able to drink (as much as I wanted) on the job (a privelege normally reserved for only the Greeks...and extended to me..being Armenian)..sleep (or study - bleh!) when things got slow...they fed me...for the whole week really - sent me home with tons of great food), I was entertained - by the Greeks and by all the others (personalities) in the restaraunt, by sports on TV (which we gambled on heavily) - always on - etc etc etc ...got an "A" BTW! ...and all not bad for being 16-17!
-
Yeah Sip I hear ya...though I've been working since age 13...cut lawns (which expanded into a full care yard service with a gardening speciality), then I (also) babysat - nights mostly (yeah me! ), worked at various restaraunts (mainly washing dishes..and when not doing that running numbers! ...and drinking - of course!)...then professional (suit) work (began while at school - cooperative education...a great program...like an intership - but paid! that I highly recommend for anyone contemplating any particualr or various career paths).. And yeah - I moved out of the house pretty much as soon as I got my car when I was 17..but then rent was easy ($120/month) in an off campus town home I shared with soem buds...and for food...I had my ways - either the restaraunt took care of me...or we found bars with happy hours! ...yes - it was during this period where (an attempt was made) to recruit me as a gigilo (really) ...having to do with one of the bars we frequented with needy (rich/older) female clientele...well I was into older gals at the time...but it just wasn't my cup of tea...and I already had too many jobs going... So what are you saying Gevo - Armenians don't know how to work hard...maybe your spending too much time on your bike eh? (good for you...)...and 4.0 GPA...sure congrats..but in the scheme of things...there are other things to be concerned about..but yeah - competing for scholarships...getting into the right grad school etc - understood... And Nairi - while I understand the dilema with social-sci (been there-done that...) ya got to learn to schmooze a bit eh? ...though there are always some profs that are tough nuts to crack... ..ANd course like bhio - or any of the entry level course - well they are designed to weed out folks - simply as that..and they use any trick in the book to make sure you got what it takes..brutal sometime (man do i have some stories...) - like the Pakistani Calculus prof who would face the board - and talk over his shoulder with his accent...- while writing with his right hand while simultaniously erasing with his left...you coulnd't see what he was writing half the time, coulnd't ever understand him well (he actually needed interpreters to communicate with his Taiwanese teaching assistants...)...and when anyone asked him a question he woulnd't answer - instead he would scream that you obviously wern't listenting to what he'd been saying...(getting any ideas Sip?...you'll perhaps need to affect the accent...)...anyway one of only 2 classes I think where I got a "C" - couldn't really be helped really...(and nothing to be ashamed of...)
-
Well believe what you like...but it did help that I began taking college courses at age 14 (Johns Hopkins) and (thus) graduated (college) at age 19...which is why - at 43 I'm set to (fully) retire in about 7 years...so perhaps all the hard work will have paid off..eh? (in addition to the fact that I've been earning a decent income for a bit of time...)...still wish I would have goofed off more..
-
..no wonder your nuts! confirmed... Seriously now - while good advice in a sense...you know - one only lives once. When I was your age (and younger) I worked my A off....essentially graduating (each in 3 years) high school (or at least dropping out..but yes graduating just the same) and college - with 2 majors, a 3.5+ GPA, while I worked two and sometimes 3 jobs (one being - for a time a 40 hr day job while I took 12 Hrs credit at night!...and I worked weekends - double shift on Sunday - etc etc)....and ya know...if I had it to do different...well maybe I wouldn't have been in such a hurry...so manic about it..instead I think I would have goofed off more - done stuff for myself - my own fun & interest...regardless if it had any career, educational or financial bearing....SO I say go out and see the world - do something fun - get drunk and party sometimes without care - all of that...always (plenty of) time for serious stuff...and in the end you may just have less regrets and you may just find a way to live longer....

Vaghe G - there is a difference between Democracy and mob rules....

Azat - go see a doctor right away. It could be somethign temporary though - and hopefully it is. A bunch of years ago I walked out my front door and sort of looked into the sun a bit and I had this spot that woulnd't go away - turned out I had (have) a whole right in the middle of my retina of one eye - think it was caused by an earlier vollyball incident (I took a spike to the head which crumples my glasse up - etc) - to make a long story short I had impared vision and it was pretty nasty. The retina specialist (who normally treats pro atheletes who develop vision problems from contact) I went too was great - he took a wait and see attitude - as surgery would guarantee my vision would be even worse - ended up my brain corrected for the problem - and it stopped getting owrse (blood vessels which had formed around it withered luckily). He said it was a one in a million injury and a one and a million recovery. I do occasionally have problems though - when I am under intense stress. A few years ago - with the death of my father the problem returned - big time - but the specialist dsaid it was no worse - just the stress affected my brains abiliity to process...maybe you are going through something similar (my problem manifested itself a few weeks after...) - anyway hope it turns out OK and hope all is well with you...
-
But you just can't get around to getting the words down eh?
-
soma...OK..yes...understood...
-
Again - I like the sense you make...many (but not all here of course) take a widely divergent view from what you have just stated...shame...I think there is a difference between a people (and from judging people) then from judging how certain representatives of (a) people think/act...etc...just as I know and like many Turks and have a fondness for Turkish people (as essentially being very much like us) - while at the same time I abhor the Turkish Governemnt and certain aspects of Turkish society (and perhaps the aspect of the culture that breeds chavanism and such...yeah speaking of - many Armenains are like the Turks in that too....)
-
True story - I took 4 years of French in school...and I finally made it to French 2! ..I'm not what you might say much of a language guy...right brain all the way...
-
what are you saying? "ladies first"?

Again Anaheet I hear you...I have a great Uncle (or some such) on my father's side who was a grand Dragon in the KKK down in Oklahoma...and much of my father's family was/(is?) proud of this fact!! ...so yeah I'm quite familiar with these type of attitudes...and much of my fathers family has been in the states since the very early 1800s...(and agree with your thoughts on racism/rascist folks...) My mother's (Armenian) side is from Istanbul..and before that both sides were from some villages near Divrig - (Sivas region) in Anatolia... BTW - you know expotentially more Armenian then I! ...oh yes and I too do like my

Much of this is good info - but there are certain inaccuracies and I think the support given to Armenain forces is in fact pretty well known - over & covert (and is ignored by this study/claimed to be debunked...but I don't think so...) . But what is not mentioned is that the majority of Armenian/NK heavy armor, APCs and such was in fact obtained through capture and refurbishment of Azeri (poorly operated) equipment.
