    Impressions Of The Day

Understood. But if they don't volunteer, moreover, if they make it known that they don't want to answer a certain question, do you have a right to ask again? And if you are lied to, whose fault is that? Did you not set yourself up for it? I just don't see the point. I'd rahter not ask and avoid being lied to. There are some questions that cannot be answered with "i can't answer that because it may hurt you". You can't plead the fifth amendment with those who are nearest and dearest.. so you tell white lies. That is all I'm saying. Of course those who should not even butt in should be tactfully told to mind their own business. ANd all worthwhile and meaningful relationships should be based on truth and trust, but expecting those two unconditionally is not realistic. Or have I become jaded too early in the game?
  2. Ashot, who wrote that? I did not find it in any post.
  3. From Bill Mears CNN Senior Producer WASHINGTON (CNN) -- In a much-anticipated ruling issued Thursday, the California Supreme Court struck down the state's ban on same-sex marriage as unconstitutional. California's Supreme Court ruled Thursday that the state's ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional. Several gay and lesbian couples, along with the city of San Francisco and gay rights groups, sued to overturn state laws allowing only marriages between a man and a woman. With the ruling, California becomes the second state to allow same-sex couples to legally wed. Massachusetts adopted the practice in 2004, and couples don't need to be state residents to wed there. Vermont, New Jersey, New Hampshire and Connecticut permit civil unions, while California has a domestic-partner registration law. More than a dozen other states give gay couples some legal rights. Seven other jurisdictions around the world have legalized same-sex marriage: Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, South Africa and the Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec. San Francisco officials in 2004 allowed same-sex couples in the city to wed, prompting a flood of applicants crowding the city hall clerk's office. The first couple to wed then was 80-year-old Phyllis Lyon and 83-year-old Dorothy Martin, lovers for 50 years. "We have a right just like anyone else to get married to the person we want to get married to," Lyon said at the time. One issue before the justices was whether San Francisco's laws carried legal weight when the rest of the state banned same-sex marriages. Gay rights advocates argued the state was violating their civil rights by limiting marriage to opposite-sex couples. The state law in question is the Defense of Marriage Act, Proposition 22. Oral arguments in the case in March lasted more than three hours, a sign of the political and legal issues at stake. Six cases were consolidated. Same-sex marriages that were nullified by the law remain nullified, CNN legal analyst Sunny Hostin said. Groups saying they were promoting a pro-family agenda had vowed to fight a statewide law allowing same-sex marriage. "The government should promote and encourage strong families," said Glen Lavy of the Alliance Defense Fund. "The voters realize that defining marriage as one man and one woman is important because the government should not, by design, deny a child both a mother and father." An appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court is likely. The federal high court has never addressed the question of same-sex marriage.

    Impressions Of The Day

I think you guys are looking at it a bit from the wrong angle. No one is comlpetely honest, you should never trust anyone above your own instincts, and no one owes you the truth as you would like it. The world doesn't revolve around me. People have lives, problems, issuses that they would rather not divulge or even admit out loud. Sometimes I don't ask a certain question I need an answer to because I can sense that the person is going to lie to. Maybe it is not for me to know. It is not my place to ask. So I don't put myself or that person in that position. Be it a parent, a friend or a partner. I think it is not healthy to become so attached to people that they become above human for you..meaning that they should never tell a lie, break a promise, or even break your heart. I don't trust anyone is going to care for me above their own skin (with the exception of my mother), and life has proven this to me time and again. Yet in certain relationships, the risking of being lied to, having promises broken or being let down comes with the complete love and surrender you bestow upon that person. Otherwise, it is a false bond- contingent upon and hinged on false expectations and requirements. I know I fail others, so why are they not allowed to fail me? Having said all this, I still curse, scream and shout when someone builds themselves up only to fall from my eyes. But I chalk it up to human nature, and I either forgive or forget and move on. What don't kill you makes you stronger. A friend of mine saw me crying and said.. "Ches amachum, yesel karcumey du uzegh aghchikes. Partvum es? Esqan shut? chesel amachum. Mihat kez havaqi." Hima el yes Ani~in em asum.. mihat kez havaqi! Hl@ ures... sa skizbna...

    China Earthquake

My prayers and thoughts go out to them as well. It's just so hopeless. Some people lost their sole child. I don't even imagine what they are living through.

    China Earthquake

California is overdue for an earthquake. It is a 99% percent definite probability that we will experience an earthquake of strong magnitude in the next 30 yearrs. They said that the magnite 7.9 which hit China is 20 times stronger than what we experienced in Northridge. While our infrastrucutres, buildings are mostly up to code, we can still expect deaths in the thousands should we experience such a strong earthquake.

    Impressions Of The Day

What a glorious morning! The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, my coffee is just the right temperature and just sweet enough! I am having an amazing morning so far. And my dear Anoushik, Edward and Zara, I still fail to see how you can prefer the weather from the day before to today's. Just kidding. I will admit it was kind of romantic and nostalgic. And had I been near a lit fireplace sipping wine, I would even admit that it would be the perfect weather. But I wasn't. And as Anoushik mentioned, the heat wave is coming up. Low 90's by Thurs/ Fri. Yayyyyy!

    Impressions Of The Day

I HATE the gloomy weather we are experienceing in L.A. It has turned everybody into a grouch. Everybody looks somber and depressed. It has ruined my day. I got ZERO work done today. I feel as if the last few hours of my life were completely wasted. I learned nothing, I did not contribute to anything worthwhile. I basically sat around in a vegetative state for the past seven+ hours. If I worked for myself, I would take the day off and go straight to bed. That would be far more productive and it would be of some benefit. I realized long ago that my general mood and temperament are greatly influenced by the environment surrounding me; the weather; the people. That is why I would never live in England. The people and overall weather are not my cup of tea. Does anyone enjoy this type of weather? And why?

How talented can one have been to put into words such feelings and create such pictures in my mind?!?!?! Ehh Sevak, Sevak.

  20. She should do everything in her power to keep the child with her- with the exception of kidnapping. This will later enable her lawyer to substantiate the "status quo" in her favor. Which will be grounds to keep the child with the mother; in simple words, keep thinbgs as they are to serve the best interest of the child. The fact that she is unemployed and future employment prospects don't look good will not help her situation. At some point she should begin some type of vocational training or some type of part time job. She should make an effort to show the courts that she can care for her child. The issue of her mental case is not really an issue. A lot of men use that tactic in divorce court. At worst they may mandate a visit with a psychiatric specialist. If she isn't crazy, she has nothing to worry about. Another thing, no offense intended toward the men... Togh antat police zangi. Yete tan mot ga, togh zangi asi vor vaxenum em irenic. Sorry but he has started the war, she doesn't have much to play with so she should play dirty. Such is life. Call the Armenian Bar Association @ 323/ 666-6288. Believe me, they have the funding and the motivation to take on some of these types of cases pro bono (free of charge). And all attorneys in Glendale, Hollywood, etc. know each other. Through the grapevine, someone will be found to help her. Hope it ends well. It is going to take a long time. Tell her to be strong.
  21. Wow, Sip. Nice pics. Place looks very quiet, relaxing. Camping alone? In the middle of nowhere. You're brave.
