  1. Dear Iran01, The more I hear Talish music the more I like it! There is another webpage to download it: http://talishica.org/Music/Music-home.htm When you have time can you please kindly post here a few links to pages with Persial folk music mp3 downlads? Thank you in advance!
  2. Anahid Takouhi jan, Your good wishes are very nice, but I actually posted that photograph of a wedding with an army of Hummer jeeps not as a normal “wedding photo”, but as a kind of social caricature… In Armenia 50% of the people are poor, and these Hummers are $200.000 each…
  3. Wedding in yerevan... (photo taken today)
  4. The most super-mega-fantastic view to Ararat I have seen is from Dzorakhpyur, which is a village at Yerevan. From there you can see both Ararat and Aragac in their ideal form… Also the other elements of the landscape are excellent from there.
  5. Now I mostly read literature on how to protect servers from hacker attacks… plus a book on the Ottoman empire. So a pretty cool combination…
  6. I have been there for many times, and, yes, it is one of the best spots in Yerevan. It is next to Cascade… so it is at the very center of the town without being in smog due to its rather higher location. Plus the fantastic view on Ararat and on Yerevan…. But they are very expensive… $1500+ per square meter I guess…
  7. Well, in Simon Vracian’s book we read that the flag was accepted by the parliament after some debates, and that that selection of colors (as well as their order) was NOT a result of a very detailed consideration there. At that moment they had too many other things to do… In any case, or flag looks OK, although I personally would prefer a graphical solution including a CROSS… so that even the most stupid Europeans or Americans at once figure out that it is the flag of a Christian nation.
  8. He means the TOWN Vladimir in central Russia.
  9. Great work! By the way, for some technical reasons I am unable to see Armenian characters in the page Հայրենասիրություն. The other two pages are fine thou.
  10. Cool! But I think the version for Isdambul need include a booklet with turkish “answers” to questions about the Armenian Genocide! Then, having all that stuff and holding that booklet in their hands the turkish guys will be fully equipped against attacks of all types….
  11. Probably, because the Arabs “inherited” Armenia as a part of Persian Empire, and so the Arabs used the name of Armenia that was at that time used by Persias…
  12. Also, some of the “pure” Armenian names have Greek versions such as: Tigranes = Tigran, Artaxis = Artashes, etc. (these forms are used for example by Roman authors). This means that the endings “es”, “as” need not mean that the considered name is Greek. And some of the Persian names, too, had such Greek “variations”, such as: Trdates = Trdat…

    Pipe

And here is a rather strange (but helpful) “geometric” difference between փող and խողովակ: The word փող can only mean a pipe that is not very long (say, 1-2 meters or so long at most). Whereas a խողովակ can be of arbitrary length. So if a given situation you can’t figure out which word need be use for the given pipe, just try to envision if or not that pipe can be very long… From this criterion it is automatically clear, that an “oil pipeline” is խողովակ and not փող… Also, the word փող seems to be a little (just a little!) old-fashioned. So if in the given context some new objects are considered (such as computer parts or whatever), then be sure that it is խողովակ...
  14. Here is the answer: «Шэхэр бизим — халва бизим» «Город наш и халва наша» (тюркская пословица)

  16. Does somebody know at which part of the Cathedral is that monument placed? Is it properly visible from the front?
  17. Please use this: http://www.excite.co.jp/world/english/
  18. Сексуялно азабоченни, таaa?
  19. And the main population of Nakhijevan, too, consist of Kurds (in particular, Aliyevs are Kurds, and in Azerbaijan everybody knows that). So do Kurds declare nakhijevan as a part of future Kurdistan?
  20. Dear Iran01, Thank you for comments. You mentioned things that I have never considered before. In particular: 1. Yes, Iran based on pure Iranian ideology is a more understandable unit (for the world) than Iran based on Islam. Unlike Turks, Iran has rich and long history that can be presented to the world as an “ideological vector”… 2. Also, an “Iranian” Iran is a better partner/friend for Europe, for Russia (and perhaps for Americas) than a “Muslim” Iran. --- I am glad to hear that about Kurds in Iran. To be honest, I too have never hared about serious Kurdish movements against Iran (in spite of the fact that Kurds are active against Turkey and Arabs of Iraq…). As to Iranian Azerbaijan… Let’s hope they will never talk of separatism. My own fears are based on what I read about Iran in Azeri forums (which are in Russian and in Turkish languages – I can pass you the links)…
  21. Medya Do I understand you correctly that you find that the state Kurdistan must include all the lands currently populated by Kurds, including not only the lands always populated by Kurds since 2000 years ago (such as Kirkuk), but also the lands that always were Armenian (such as Kars) and that have lost their Armenian population only a dew decades ago?
  22. I see that this topic is becoming much more interesting than what I expected earlier. Hi Iran01, What you said is very interesting. But can you please kindly comment the following? Your criticism of Islam is pretty understandable, but Islam plays a special role in Iran… a role that cannot be replaced by Iranian nationalism. The role I mentioned is that it is a good glue to connect various parts of Iran into one state. In other words, if Iranian nationalism becomes a dominant ideology, there is high risk that the Turkish or Kurdish population of Iran (in Azerbaijan and in Kurdistan) will have a good motivation to stress their own Turkish/Azeri or Kurdish nationalsm… So you then will have to face much more separatism??? Being an Armenian I'd like to see Iran as large as possible...
  23. The Turkish government declared Jihad against Armenians and used many of the Kurdish ashirets to kill Armenians. The same happened to Greeks and Assirians, too (Kurds played important roles in their executions, too)! Well, it is true that Kurds as Muslims had a reson to easily become tools in the hands of Turks. However, on the other hand, Arabs also are Muslims, but they never took part in those executions… Again, on the other hand, it is evident that the Genocides of Armenians, the Greeks and the Assirians were not organized by Kurds... So the situation is not very clear, and the things depend on the fact what the Kurds do now: if they declare Western Armenia a “Kurdistan”, then the Kurds will actually continue the job of Turks, and they have to answer for Armenian Genocide, too… On the other hand, if Kurds try to find a better solution taking into account the rights of Armenians, then the situation will be different…
